The unit comes out of the box with some of the best games, and plays and looks like they do on a old SDTV for the most part - there are some soft pixilations in console view (several filters, including pixel perfect. The console is the best one to use). You are probably going to want to buy controller extenders - I did, while the controllers are short-corded they are longer than the NES classic mini, and the unit is truly miniscule. Well worth the money. If you see one, buy one.

A bit of a mess

Discombobulation. The game starts out with you being a ship, then half-ship, flying around like a shooter, then your a person. The view changes seamlessly from side-view, to over the top, to full open 3rd person frequently and it can be a little jarring. The difficulty level is a little high but attainable. Graphics are solid and gameplay is good, but there isn't much hand-holding to get you used to them. I paid $30 and would recommend a purchase at $20.

Game is as advertised, a upscaled version of .hack. I haven't gotten too deep into the game, but smacked right away with a download of 33gb or so downloaded only while game is running. Episode 1 and 4 are included, 2,3, and special features have to be downloaded which happens automatically when you start the game, but doesn't load outside of the game is my understanding like most games.
There are videos that help spell out the story before you begin with events from the original .hack series, but it doesn't have a pause,rewind button. When you have 23 min videos, it kinda is not cool. Overall though, I'd buy again. I got the item for $30 and am very satisfied.

Long time final fantasy person here, the graphics have been upscaled nicely, and you can up to 4x fast forward the game during play to make battles faster, but they do become a bit more jarring - especially since it doesn't have a true turn by turn functionality. Overall, I skipped 12 the first time around, find myself getting rather into the storyline.

Yes. However with the age of your laptop there are very few things you can do to upgrade it at this point. More RAM if you haven't already added it, and a faster hard drive are really the only options. I use this unit in my PS4 and have no issues, however I have extensive computer/laptop background. I would actually recommend a solid state hard drive over this one in your laptop with the reasoning being that a 2010 laptop will feel like a completely different experience with a solid SSD. Boot in a fraction of the time, everything loads faster, even internet pages pop up quicker. With that being said, you need to stick to well-known brands. Intel and Samsung are the best with Intel being the better performer, but Samsung being very solid with usually a lower price point.. Stay away from brands like OCZ, Kingston, and anything of which you've never heard the name of before.
