I didn't intend to buy this but I'm sure glad I did. It fits my tablet perfectly and is a great stand. My tablet sometimes will tilt on me but I've finally figured out how to position it so it doesn't. The only way to view the tablet in the portrait position is to stand it up though.

I purchased this for work so that I could carry a large amount of data with me without having to take a huge memory device. It worked perfectly. The only thing I would say is to caution against trying to change between a Mac and PC. It requires reformatting and will erase all data on the device.

The nVidia Shield is an 8" tablet, but its dimensions are 5.0 inches x 8.8 inches x 0.36 inches. Does the case use elastic to accommodate different dimensions of 8" tablets, or does it assume they're all roughly the same width and height?
It isn't elastic. It is a hard plastic shell which the tablet fits into.

Does this external hard drive work for Windows 10 and are the usb cables provided. I just want it to back up large music files.
USB Cable (3.0) is provided and I don't know if it works with Windows 10.

Does this have to be used as a back-up drive only or can it be used as sort of a large flash drive to save files and access on any compatible device?
I'm under the impression that many external hard drives are just used for back-up to restore what was lost on the computer the data was originally stored in. I just want to use this as a storage device to save things from any computer I may be using at the time - at the library, a hotel business center where computers are provided for guests, a computer lab at school, etc. Will this only serve as back up or can I save files directly to the Canvio Connect II for access on any computer I hook it up to?
You can use this like any storage. I will save and pull from it all the time. I would just be a little careful that you check it for viruses or malware when going between computers (disclosure: I'm not a computer person so this could be me being a non-technical scaredy cat).

For use with two computers?
I see that this is PC and Mac compatible. I use both -- would I be able to use it to back up both (one manually [the PC], one with Time Machine [the Mac])? Or would I have to format it for just one kind of machine? And I'm assuming 2TB would be enough for both; is that not true? Thanks!
You don't have to reformat for the Apple if you go from PC. I have personal experience.
