how quickly does it charge a smart phone
I get a full charge in 30 to 40 minutes :) maybe even faster if I would leave my phone alone.

you use a cord, like what you use to charger your phone. It comes with a 3 inch cord. Plug the usb end into the charger and plug the mirco usb into your phone. That is it. It charges very fast.

How do i charge the unit?
There is a port on the side. You plug in the micro usb in to, then use a wall charger or computer to plug the usb end in to.
