Awesome game except for the audio lag

I bought this game to relearn guitar. The song selection and game play are awesome. I just don't like that you need an external sound system for your tv. Without the external sound system the strumming and the sound don't match. I only have an HDMI cable hook up for my ps3, so it lags when I play the game. That doesn't teach, thus making it just a game.
