A Must for Star War Fans

I enjoy the Star Wars series of movies. I buy very few DVD's but I do have all of the Star War DVD's and enjoy watching them over and over. This is a great stand alone movie that adds to the greater story. The action and effects are first rate (as one would suspect from a Star Wars movie). The characters are also substantially defined. There are no "cute" characters to make the story endearing. This is a tale of courage and sacrifice.

Limited Reception

Purchased mainly to get the big three (ABC, CBS, NBC). Anything else would be a plus. Setup is easy. However it did not have success in drawing in ALL three of the majors. I would get one but not the other. Returned to Best Buy. This was used in a residential area on the second floor and the towers where not far away. Obstructions where limited to trees. With HD channels it is either yes or no on reception. However, the signal can drop in and out causing the picture to disappear.

The Best Remotes EVER

I love these remotes. At one time (about 7 years ago) the coffee table contained a remote for the cable box, tv, dvd, rook and receiver. To watch a program I had to turn on the receiver, tv and cable box. Three remotes to do one thing. My wife hated it. There had to be a better way. That is when I discovered the Logitech (Harmony) remotes. I purchased my first, the Harmony One on sale at BestBuy. I had no clue on how to use it, what it would take to make it work or how it worked. I was just hoping. Well after a few miss steps in programming, I was sold. Now when my wife wants to watch Hulu she has to push one button and the remote turns on the Roku and the Receiver. We have two in our house (950 and 750). This one was purchased for a friend whose coffee table was cluttered with numerous remotes. He loves it and this is the perfect entry remote to see if the Harmony will work for you. You will hear some complaints that programming the remote is a pain, and it can be if you do not have patience. It is a piece of technology and is therefore prone to human error. The online walk through is straight forward. Should a problem arise, customer service is just a phone call away. They are great. Once I had a problem that I could not resolve. Instead of calling I emailed the problem and outlined what I wanted to accomplish. They fixed it at their end and the next time I used the remote, they had programmed my remote to address the issue. Get one, be patient and use customer service.

We have three of these in our house: Roku 3, Roku Premiere and Roku Ultra. No cable, just these and an antenna. I know that there are many different choices out there to manage content but I like the ease of installation, channel choices and innovation. The latest that I really like, is that I can down load the Roku App and plug in my headphones and listen to the TV (can do this with some Roku remotes). I do this in the exercise room. No long do I have to turn the volume up to hear above the elliptical machine noise. Screen layout for the channels is first rate. I am Apple user of all things technology, but when it came to streaming I am a Roku fan.

Fun Science Fiction

I am a fan of Science Fiction. I seldom purchase DVD's but made an exception with The Fifth Element. It was a unique movie when it first came out and I believe has held up well. The story line is well written, the acting and the characters grab you and the special effects are first rate. When I watched this for the first time, I felt that I was watching a saturday morning serial from my youth, but with better special effects (no strings holding up the spaceship). And Bruce Willis is great (Die Hard in Space).

Not Right for Me

First off, these are a pair of excellent in ear headphones. My wife has a pair, and she loves them. I decided to purchase a set for myself after using hers on a recent flight. They did a respectable job of keeping the noise out and the sound was great. So I bought a pair with the intention of using them for exercising. I have the ability to plug into the TV remote to get the sound through the headphones. I have been using an old pair of apple ear buds that where doing a good job (good sound but did not stay in the ear securely). Two things stood out with the Bose: the volume level peaked out and when the cord dangled, the effect was heard in the earphones. I like them fine just for music listening. The sound is crisp and you can distinguish the different parts (instruments/vocals) of the music clearly. The sound separation is also very good. You feel that the music is around you. However they did not workout for my intended purpose (exercising) so I have returned them . . . reluctantly.

It has been about 2 months since she purchased the iWatch and continues to love it more every day. What she likes: its is a cool watch and the white band looks great on wrist. This is my third Denon Receiver. The first was an entry level many years ago. Then later I purchased a top of the line when Circuit City went out of business. That one served me well and is now in use upstairs in the exercise room. The current one was a necessary purchase since I needed the receivers capabilities to handle 4K and HDR on a new television. This is doing a great job of being the center of my home theater system. Everything runs through the receiver: 4K LG TV (ARC connection), Roku, Cable Box, DVD player. There are enough HDMI slots to handle all of my needs. Additionally this is the easiest receiver to learn and use. Having said that there is a learning curve. To get the full benefit of this receiver it is a must that you read the manual. Just plugging it in and using it will certainly work, but there are many features that require user input to activate. I down loaded the manual to my iPad and then each day read one or two sections and applied what I learned. I purchased this on sale but would have paid full price. One note: this review is for Denon AVR X1300.

This stand looks good, is functional and is sturdy. We purchased this for our exercise room to hold a large plasma TV, Xbox, Receiver and other home theater accessories. The stand comes disassembled and will take you anywhere between 1 to 2 hours to assemble. Take your time and make sure that you follow the instructions. I used the rule read, read again and then do. Served me well. No mistakes and no undoing to fix a step. The stand looks great and would have worked where we keep our main TV. If I had to do it over I would have switched stands. It is very functional. The stand holds a TV, Receiver, Xbox and a few odds and ends. Still have room for additional items if necessary. It is currently holding a Plasma TV with a 58 inch screen. It is very heavy and the stand bears its weight without any difficulty.

Great in the Gym

Purchased for my wife. First attempt was a different version of Wireless Plantronics (not behind the ears). She likes to watch movies on her iPad when on the elliptical and continually was getting the cable snared. That takes a toll on the earbuds and the iPad. This is perfect according to her. It is sweat proof, has great sound and is easy to charge. She has been using it for the last couple of months. And she now even uses it outside of the gym.

I currently bought the Hisense 55 H8c. Amazing beatifull picture.Very satisfied with tv. Will this Roku stream Netflix HDR capable movies as in HDR as my tv app is not capable of doing so.Thanks so much
The Roku you have must be able to handle HDR. I have a Roku Ultra, and a 4K TV, both running through a Denon receiver. In order for 4K and HDR to work all have to be HCCP compliant. Also your TV must be able to broadcast HDR content. Mind did not out of the box, but with a firmware update it became able.

What does 7.2 mean?
7.2 is the designation to make the user aware of the audio handling capability of the receiver. A 7.2 receiver will handle two front speakers, two back speakers, an additional set of back/side speakers, a center speaker and a subwoofer. A total of 7 speakers and a subwoofer (the .2).
