This is a moody horror film that in many ways superior to Halloween in every way. This is mainly due to the memorable yet nuanced performances of the cast and spot on direction by John Carpenter.

Solid Horror Effort

In short, You're Next stands as a solid horror effort in a dismal year of for horror. The centerpiece of the film is Aussie newcomer Sharni Vinson who plays a badass final girl. Enough gore to please gore fans and a smart script in hand, You're Next mostly satisfies. Though, it can't seem to manage to go beyond its b-movie territory.

What's great about it: An effective horror thriller that plays smart with a strong female lead.
What's not so great: The plot is straightforward and moves into b-movie territory in its second half.
