This range cord is required for successful hook-up of your new appliance. Our delivery personnel will determine whether a 3- or 4-prong cord is needed based on the outlet behind your existing range.

Needed to get it just so there would be no questions if something unfortunte went wrong with the range. Didn't want to take the chance if I needed to make a warranty call that I didn't follow all reconmadations. Old cord would have worked just fine it wasn't that old and had the same wiring configuration.

How wide is the oven really? I am looking for the area from side to side. I know it has that overlap feature on top to prevent food from falling into the gap thereby making it 31~ inches but can it fit into a 30~ inch opening?
Yes the opening needs to be at least 30". Most professional installers for cabinetry would leave 30 1/8 so your counter top would be flush with your cabinets +1/16 which will give you an opening of 30" . The top of the stove over laps your counter top.
