When Clutch's previous label DRT went under, a lot of music was discontinued including Clutch's albums. With their own label, the band reissued all three DRT releases with expanded packaging and bonus material. Robot Hive/Exodus is an essential album that I think explores different sounds they had done before while introducing new ones. If you need more of a reason to get this, check out the song Burning Beard.

Clutch have always been the kind of band that did things their own way. Whether it's putting out something a little bluesy, or hard and heavy, of course they would want to start their own label. For their first release on Weathermaker Music, we get Strange Cousins From The West: a great showcase of what they do best, but more stripped down. As far as the type of sound, it leans more towards bluesy, but a little rockin'. If that's what you like, I also recommend Robot Hive/Exodus and From Beale Street To Oblivion. If you like hard and heavy, Earth Rocker is perfect. Clutch, Elephant Riders and Pure Rock Fury are also recommended.

In 2005, As I Lay Dying's third album is released. Not being impressed with their previous efforts, I thought "big deal." After seeing the video for Confined, my opinion changed quick. This CD is a great start for new fans.

I hate to sound like a fanboy, but I feel like Lamb Of God are always getting better with each album. Not saying that it's better than the previous albums, but I'm excited for what they'll put out next.
