Better than expected but not the greatest

I really liked the regular EarPods for overall sound and comfort. They fit my ears well so I gave these a go. I was overall very impressed with sound and fit. I do feel they got heavy over time at first but my ears adjusted. They don't do well when there is a lot of sound around you but very pleased. Biggest perk is the ability to hop from phone to mac and iPad at will.

This 3' Insignia NS-LW16 3.5mm audio cable lets you connect a cell phone, tablet or MP3 player to a stereo system, speaker or computer and features a low-profile design that enables easy connectivity while your device remains in its case.
I am using this connection with a new Insignia Portable CD player but the volume is so low I can hardly hear it with the volume on the car and the CD player turned all the way up. What is the problem and is there a solution?
Are you sure it's plugged in all the way? This happens a lot when the stereo connector on the tip isn't leads in the devices. Secondly the portable player probably doesn't have enough power to drive the sound to the car radio, you should turn the portable device up to about 75% volume and then adjust the car radio to your liking. Start there and then turn each up some.
