I needed something to transfer photos from my camera chip to my computer. The Best Buy representative recommended this and I purchased it.
It was very reasonably priced and when I got it home it worked like a charm. It was easy to use and transferred the photos quickly and without a hitch.

does the USB have its own actual memory where I could move photos from the cards to the USB or is it just a plug?

What SD card sizes is this card able to read?
I have read other card readers have trouble reading older SD cards, such as, 2 GB, and smaller,
does the Insignia NS CR2021 reader, have the ability to read 2GB, 512MB, and 256MB SD cards?

My SD card is 32 GB so it should be able to take anything at least smaller than that. It is only transferring the data, so the card reader should not be limited my the number of GBs
