Wow. This is a great chance to get all of the HDR processing and features of its big brother, the UB820, for a fraction of the price. If you don't need Dolby Vision, this is the player for you. I have this connected to my Epson 5050UB projector and the image is incredible. The HDR settings, processing and upscaling are second to none. This also supports 3D, which is a big plus for me. I highly recommend this player.

Amazing picture and features!

This is my first projector. After doing exhaustive research for about a year, I decided on going with either the Epson 5050UB or Sony 295ES. I'm a huge 3D fan so brightness played a big role in my decision. The 5050UB is plenty bright! The 3D looks incredible, very immersive, depth and pop outs are amazing and the overall image is outstanding. The other feature that made me choose the 5050UB is the lens memory, switching between 16:9 and 2:35:1 format with the touch of a button. This is a very nice feature. And, of course, price. The 5050UB was HALF the price of the Sony 295ES. Sure, the Sony is a true 4k projector and the Epson is a pixel shifter, but I primarily watch Blu rays, which are 1080p, with a few 4k movies. Both blu rays and 4k discs look amazing. I can tell you after playing around with different settings and picture modes, the Epson throws a phenomenal image. Brightness, sharpness, contrast, colors - all incredible. When viewing the 4k video examples on YouTube (i.e. Costa Rica in 4k) the image looks like I'm looking at an OLED TV, no lie. If you're considering this projector, go for it. I have no complaints. I highly recommend.

We're tired of the desktop roku box, with the additional power cable, HDMI cable, etc. If we use this instead, will we still have the Roku home screen when we first turn on the TV? We REALLY want to stay with the Roku interface.
Yes. This plugs directly into an HDMI port and the power side plugs into a USB port (no need for the extra power cord). This specific model is great because it's the only remote that you need: it has the power and volume button for the TV. Once you power the TV on, it brings you to the Roku homepage. Quality is great.
