Great movie, great restoration

Criterion once again has made the film look the best it ever will. It's a 4k scan of original negatives. Its presented in 2K and looks great. It still has film grain but is never noisy. There is plenty of reviews about the movie itself so I won't go into detail, I'll just say it's a great movie

Best the Film will ever look

This set has all 3 cuts of the film 2 are just about 3 hours each. It is region free even though Arrow restored this film. Arrow lately has been on a roll with quality scans
This is a 4k scan presented in 2k. I know sounds dumb but I feel older films look better this way. It allows great detail and still has the natural grain without it being noisy

Upgrade over DVD

The picture quality is definitely an upgrade over the DVD release. It's soft at times but there are some up ticks in color. Over all I give it 3.75. They left the films natural grain. This is not a movie where they will spend a ton of money doing a complete restoration. I will say it is worth getting if you are a fan of the movie.

The 4k looked great, the movie itself was average. It's almost cookie cut buddy comedy type movies. Two guys stuck together who hate each other. Ryan Reynolds humor was what carried this movie SLJ was the same as in any of these movies just talked loud and angry. There was action and a okay story. I will watch it again, but I'm in no rush and bought it on black Friday sale. I'd recommend this as a rental 1st. But its not a must buy

Predator has never looked this good. The versions before this scan should be thrown in the trash. They did right by the movie this time. Only scene where the grain was almost noisy was right in the beginning with the helicopter over the water. Once you get past that it was great. This is the first time the colors in their camouflage stood out. Part 2 and 3 look better than previous blu ray releases but most people are focused on part 1

I haven't watched this movie till this year. I thought it looked terrible from previews. So I finally took the leap and watched it. I really enjoyed it. It's funny parts are carried by the dry humor of Vince Vaughn. I'm not a huge fan of him, but he was good in this. Not saying its Christmas vacation, but it has now been placed into my holiday movie rotation.

Digital copy warning**

I'll post review after this digital copy warning. When you follow the directions it will give you two options for getting your digital copy. It is VUDU or Fandango Now. If you do VUDU you will only get the HDX version not 4k. Lionsgate is no longer with VUDU so if you want any movie especially the Rambo series do it through fandango now to get the UHD version. I made the mistake with first blood and only got 1080p version.
The 4k scan of this and the rest of the Rambo series looks and sounds the best it has ever.

Ok no need to review the movie.m, it's been done 1million times by now. The big question is how does the 4k look. I watched it on 65 inch LG OLED and it looked the best I think it has ever looked. There is a layer of grain but it's never so heavy it takes away from the film. The opening credits with the pumpkin and the black back ground and the light inside the pumkin really was impressive looking for a movie 40 years old. I hate double dipping, but it was well worth it.

If you are a huge fan of Jaws and compare the two you will not enjoy this movie. MEG is a mindless popcorn flick. It is fun, fast paced and I enjoyed it for that reason. It doesnt take itself serious, but definitely 100% more than the sharknado series. The special effects were good. The audio and video quality in 4k are good.
