I have a home server with over 80TB of storage capacity. Recently I lost the ability to connect to it over my home network. As it serves as network storage for all my music, movies, photos and some personal files. Having lost all network connections to the server, I have been unable to stream or access any of my stored data. Until I figure out what's going on with the server, I decided to buy this portable drive as an interim solution, and have begun to store my data on it by slowly downloading some of the accessible data on the server. I have then "shared" that data on the network so that I can access it from any device connected to the network and it has functioned perfectly! Once accessed on any device, streaming is seamless and fast. I have moved a ton of stuff to this drive and when I check "properties", very little memory is used up.

This review is simply for an extended warranty, not for any Geek Squad service. (Nothing against them, but I'm an engineer and fully capable of installing, setting up, and maintaining my own equipment.
In this case, I was forced to work from home, for the same reason most of us were, for the last few weeks of last year. I soon found that I had no means to communicate in virtual meetings. The solution was to purchase a gaming headset with a USB interface, which put me back in service! The extended warranty was very inexpensive so I bought that as well. Fortunately, I've not had to use it, but am confident that if I do, Best Buy will belly up to the bar.

I live in a condo that did not come pre-wired for Ethernet throughout. Unfortunately, the ISP brought Ethernet access into the place upstairs in the loft, which was just fine for my computers and server there, but not for the smart tv, the home theater computer, or the laptop. Solution: Install several of these adapters which server as wireless Ethernet extensions. All devices are now connected and have internet access!

My girlfriend has been working from home since March of last year. She is using a fairly powerful laptop I bought her, but though the laptop has multiple HDMI connections, it only has 1 USB connection, limiting what other devices she can readily (and easily) connect to the laptop. With the addition of this component, she now has multiple USB connections that can be used for other devices (gaming headset for virtual meetings, fitbit device for charging, etc.) Works like a charm.

Many years ago, seems like eons, I bought a set of Bose noise-canceling headphone as a gift for girlfriend. As we all know, working from home adds a layer of performance to the home equipment that is not necessary when working from the office. Two of us were required to work from home for the remainder of last year. My desktop, with a direct connection to an Ethernet switch and the modem always worked properly. My partner's laptop, however, insisted on randomly shutting down off the WIFI, then going into airplane mode. It was easy enough to me to reset the adapter, but not so easy for her to do every few hours. The solution: Hard-wire her laptop into the remaining open port in the Ethernet switch, and permanently turn off the WIFI adapter. I bought a cable long enough to make the trip, and used CAT6 cable to assure the cable length had no adverse affect on the laptop performance. It has been 4 weeks now since the cable was installed, and the laptop has functioned perfectly.

Against recommendations, I did travel to visit family for Thanksgiving. (I get to do the cooking!) My daughter had one of these, and after seeing its capabilities, I just had to have one. I went online and ordered it immediately. Unfortunately, it was out of stock, probably because they are so popular, but it eventually showed up, and we are more than satisfied with its performance. Had a few issues getting it connected, but it was up and running in about 10 minutes, maybe less. I have discovered that, using my cell phone, I can broadcast messages back home from my office. The replies that I get list out as text. It's an amazing device!

Yes... the bestbuy customer service agent who helped me, said I could only use 2 of these or the connection would diminish, yet from the answers it says you can pair as many as you need? Whats the truth?
Home power line wires are certainly not the best means for carrying high-speed Ethernet signals from one place to another. In my experience, I have successfully connected one source unit to 2 extensions without issues. It may be possible to add more, but I haven't tried that.

Can you use a power extender to plug it in
Due to the fact that my TV was physically located far from where I could get Ethernet access, I originally purchased a pair of Ethernet over power lines to be able to connect the TV to the Ethernet. I have used them in a distributed manner to offer access to other devices as well (laptops, Xbox, home theater pc, etc.) and they have functioned well in those applications. However, these devices can be sensitive to loading and I have found that their usefulness deteriorates as Ethernet load increases. As such, I would not recommend putting these devices on any type of extension cord. In fact, I believe I recall that the information included from the OEM specifies that they not be connected in this manner, but must be plugged directly into the outlets on either end.

I have a 5 port plug-n-play switch that bottlenecks my 200 mbs signal to 100 mbs. Will this switch have a 200 mbs throuhput?
You need to make sure your existing switch is something more than a 1/10/100 switch.
