HT/1510 Predator resets expectations for REL~s standard bearer, with a confident, sexy look that meshes perfectly into the traditional REL family, while delivering significantly increased power and improved, well, just about everything. Predator II delivers upgraded performance across every performance category: 1,000-watt amplifier with PerfectFilter inputs, 15~ CarbonGlas driver that handles vastly more power, and confident, elegant styling not previously seen in home theatre designs. This encourages use in multi-REL systems, allowing blending with Serie T/x and Serie S.

Absolutely Gobsmacked!

My first exposure to Rel was quite some time ago when I heard their Britannia line and was very impressed; very musical as everyone knows about Rel!
But around the same time I was very much into the HT thing and had been fortunate to acquire Sunfire’s very first True Sub.
Not long afterwards, I upgraded to the Signature model; it has served me very well for a very long time.
Fast forward to today; I had never really forgotten the musicality of the aforementioned Rel Britannia.
I decided it was time to revisit Rel.
The HT/1510 is a fantastic upgrade replacing an already formidable Sunfire TSEQ12 no longer in production, at least the Bob Carver US version.
Coming from the TSEQ12, I had extremely high expectations for this Predator!
I’m happy to report all of my bass requirements in terms of slam, definition, palpable dynamics and purely musical elements and more exist in this beast of a subwoofer!
Prior to acquiring the HT/1510, I had considered Adam Audio Sub15 at nearly fifty percent more and only because my HT consists of all Adam Audio pro-audio active monitors.
I’ve since decided not to pursue the Sub15 due in large part to how the Predator performs; very seamless integration with my entire system.
Not only is the bass so much better than ever, but the entire frequency spectrum of midrange and high frequencies has improved dramatically with a soundstage that just feels so right and natural, not to mention very deep and wide.
My HT has never sounded better and rivals anything I’ve yet seen or heard to date.
All this and the Predator hasn’t even been completely broken in; it just keeps getting better every day.
I had even considered acquiring two HT/1510’s but after configuring one properly and hearing it perform so well, I don’t even feel the need for two.
Although it would be awesome to have a pair!

Outstanding sound quality better than expected. And as with all speakers, acoustics have a huge impact; this speaker seems to sometimes defy the laws of acoustics in a very good way. Whether indoors such as my garage while working out or outdoors as in camping, the music is never harsh or fatiguing. Bluetooth connectivity relatively stable, only my mobile device is the culprit when there’s a disconnect. My other devices such as my MacBook Pro has no connection issues with the Kilburn.

This 1210GR exudes quality craftsmanship of the highest level. But then again it is a Technics and it is made in Japan so I am not the least bit surprised. I have a low output moving coil cartridge mounted connected to a fully balanced phone stage which is connected to a passive balanced preamplifier. The noise floor is so low that it creates a soundstage width and depth that is massive. I’ve heard megabuck system’s several times more expensive that are not as good as my analog vinyl rig! Technics knocked this one out of the park! A component worthy of the finest available; very musical and very quiet!

Technics SL-1210GR Direct Drive Turntable System
I'm planning to connect the SL-1210GR turntable to my Sonos 5 speaker via the aux port. Does the turntable have to have an on-board pre-amp to work with just the speaker aux connection vs wired to a receiver?
The Sonos FIVE feature set includes: “3.5mm line input for voice control device, turntable (with built-in phono preamp), or portable player” The SL1210GR does NOT have a built in phono preamp; it has phono level output connections requiring a separate phono preamplifier. The FIVE and the SL1210GR are a mismatch in more than just connectivity. The FIVE is better suited with budget turntables while the SL1210GR is more suitably connected to high end audiophile components.

Does the turntable come with a cartridge, or does that need to be bought separately?
It does not come with a phono cartridge but it does come with a head shell to mount a cartridge on. There are many to choose from including some that include both the cartridge and head shell. Some have mounted phono cartridges that cost as much as or even far exceed the cost of the TT; the SL1210GR is that good. Has even been compared to TT’s that are not just ten times but even a hundred times more expensive.
