Ok, I have a bit of a bias. I saw the original in 1968 when it came out. As an 8th grade kid, this set me up for a lifetime of movie viewing. The movie is so stunning and important that we flew from Atlanta to Detroit to watch in 70 mm last summer. So to get the see the highest quality frame-by-frame rescan of the acetate film in my home theater make this a real treat. And what a movie. When you realize that it foretold tablet viewing and reading of the NY Times nearly 40 years before you could do it shows the brilliance of the story. Come on, HAL and IBM one alphabetic character apart, spinning spacecraft to have centrifugal force mimic gravity, this is great stuff. A real treat for movie fans.

Clearly a viewing and listening fun fest. Really stunning image and audio quality. Good enough story. A million miles for the classic story but fun to watch.

Tivo has a good name. The image quality was simply note there. The image degradation was quite noticeable. I paid a lot for a big high quality TV but this reduced the image detail to a poor viewing experience. Also the interface confused the heck out of me. The grid of local changeless was interrupted with junk I did not want. I never got the hang of navigation. It was really hard to get to the programs I recorded..AND that was the reason to get the thing. Another review suggested that the company had a mixed purpose and I see what they mean. It was almost that they were encouraging you to watch (stream) other stuff trying to make this a swiss army knife out of this box. The result is a convoluted interface that is difficult to follow. Also it seemed to want to take over my LG. Did not play well with Magic Remote. This lead to further confusion and the near impossibility to get straight to local direct OTA channels when not viewing through the TV. This coupled with degraded image takes this out of my Home Theater setup.
Cut the cable cord with this Tablo DUAL LITE DVR. It streams or records from two over-the-air HD channels at once, so you won't miss your favorite shows, and it lets you skip over distracting commercials. This Tablo DUAL LITE DVR uses either dual-band Wi-Fi or Ethernet to connect to your home network, so you can place your TV antenna in the best location for OTA signal reception.

I love 1080 video for free! I hate commercials. This is device to smooth over my issues. The quality of image playback is superior. The ability to fast forward works well. One different (but helpful) feature is the encouragement (during setup) to delete stations you don't need. So I paired down the 70+ (in Atlanta) to about 10. What the heck, I didn't need to watch 480 broadcast of 50 year old movies. And there's a lot more I didn't need anyway. One complaint is the slowness of launch for Playback. No idea why this happens. It is a bit annoying, but the quality is worth the wait. I have used 3 other DVR methods in the last 5 years. And this overall is the best. PLUS remote retrieval (in theory - I haven't used it yet.
