Remake Goodiness

I wasn’t too keen on the LIVE rendition of Aladdin when I first saw it. Will Smith as a big blue genie was rather jarring. Then there was Jafar who looked nothing like Jafar. I took a leap of faith and bought on 4K anyway if simply for Princess Jasmine that is great eye candy. Well upon watching again, this movie is certainly good in its own merit. You just have to forget the cartoon and what you think the characters should look like. The 4K picture is crisp and the HDR makes the colors shine and pop. Gave it a second chance and I’m glad I did. Highly recommend!

First the steelbook is beautiful. The artwork is perfect and what a better souvenir than this steelbook to celebrate the 4K release. Now to the 4K video. Super crips animation and the HDR makes the colors pop. This is the definitive version of Aladdin. Highly recommend.

This was a sweet little bonus that came with preordering John Wick 3 steelbook special edition. A few weeks early than the physical release, this came in the mail. A mini steelbook which was super cool! Open it up and there was your own personal Continental black card. On the back of the card was the digital code to redeem on Vudu which gave me instant access to the 4K Dolby Vision version of the movie which looked fabulous. If you can get your hands on this little gem, it’s definitely something nice as a collectible that the majority of other people won’t have. It was great seeing the movie before it releases physical in stores.

If you read the comics, then this movie will likely serve as a disappointment if you directly compare. However, if you don’t care about the comics or can accept this as it’s own tale, then you will be pleasantly surprised. It’s a hood story and has a lot of your favorite characters good and bad. The animation is top notch and shines on 4K Blu-ray with HDR. This is the definitive version of how to view this film. It has a more adult tone and is a welcome addition to the animated DC Universe library. Highly recommend.

I didn’t grow up on Pokémon. So I went into this with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised. Of course it does help there is Ryan Reynold’s charm as pikachu! This 3D Blu-ray Disc is sharp and precise with nice spatial depth throughout. The world is imaginative and the movie is watchable whether you are a long time fan or not. Happy to still support studios that release 3D versions of their movies. 4K is nice but flat. 3D brings a whole different sense of enjoyment to this film. Highly recommend.

I bought this tv for my grandmother and I can confirm that the front frame is light gray but the entire back of the tv is white as well as the feet. Great tv!
