2nd best “Halloween” movie..could be better..

I went into this one with high expectations that were almost fulfilled. It’s probably the second best in the history of “Halloween” movies. Not sure why they gave Jamie Lee Curtis the Leslie Van Houten makeover, but she plays her part well. The film is strong enough in all technical aspects and audio/picture quality is fine. Still, the recent 4k release of the John Carpenter original is superior in every way. Both versions are worthy of a place in your UHD horror collection.

It’s the most recent of the “Saw” franchise, and the first to be released in UHD. These films aren’t for everyone, but if you’re okay with the genre, this one is fairly decent. The Dolby Vision Picture is surprisingly excellent and the Dolby Atmos audio sets the mood quite nicely.

What firmware version
Firmware 1.6 is the newest version. You can check the firmware version on your unit by holding the “mark” and “mute” buttons during power up. If you have an earlier version it’s very easy to update to the newest firmware version (highly recommended) using Escort’s Detector Tools app or through a WiFi connection.

The Klipsch website can be helpful. I would stay in the Reference Premiere(RP) line and not the lower priced, often on sale Reference(R) line. If you purchase the RP-280FA, you are getting an incredible deal on a great pair of speakers. You may have to buy the rest of the setup from the newest Reference Premiere line at full price, but you will have a great setup for hours of home theatre and music listening pleasure for years to come.

the authorized klipsch page claims the rp-280 fa is 150 watts continuous and 600w peak, while best buy is claiming 900w peak. are these an updated model? is best buy playing fast and loose with the specs?
The RP280FA is actually two speakers in one cabinet (including separate speaker wire terminals), a front firing floor speaker and an upward firing atmos speaker. The 900 watt figure quoted by Best Buy is a sum of 600 watts for the floor speaker and 300 for the atmos speaker.

To anyone wondering, these are NOT considered real Klipsch, they are department store speakers and nothing more, made dirt cheap over sea's. PWK would roll in his grave if he saw this with his name on it. You go to a Klipsch dealer to buy the real ones.
It’s true that these speakers, like the majority of current Klipsch products, are imported. RP-280SA are from the Reference Premiere line, which is a definite step above that Reference series found on the shelves at any Best Buy. The RP-280SA is an Atmos ready speaker. I purchased a pair as part of a major upgrade to my home theater room, and I don’t think you can touch their performance at the current clearance price.
