Band of Brothers is just an outstanding series illuminating the Stephen Ambrose book.
We follow an Airborne Company in the 101st Airborne Division as it is formed, sent through basic training and Jump School together, and sent to England together.
What I took out of that method of training is that the Company already cared for each other and were therefore more effective when in a conflict.
My Father was in the 17th Airborne Division, in the Philippines, preparing to jump into mainland Japan as the leading force into a battle that was expected to generate a million casualties. Fortunately, the invasion was converted to an occupation after Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
I was commissioned an officer in the Marines after I graduated from Iowas State and got my Parachuting wings Along the way. Those wings already place you in a different category, regardless of your ultimate position.
