Fantastic movie, Flawless 4K execution

The 4K presentation is very good. It’s not quite a reference disc like Dune or the Revenant, but that’s due more to the source material. There just aren’t many bright colors to take full advantage of the UHD format. Fortunately the black levels look fantastic, which is good because there are a lot of them. I’m very happy that I switched over to an OLED TV to take full advantage of a film like this. The resolution is great, with only the slightest hint of grain in a few shots. The resolution is so good that I even noticed the limits of the CGI in one scene that I hadn’t noticed before.
The audio is fantastic. Vocals come through clearly with a very immersive sound experience. There are definitely other films out there with more active surround effects, but they often seem contrived. This audio experience feels very natural. One of my favorite effects is Cage running around a dune circling the mimic. It’s spectacular.
This is one of my top five favorite sci-fi movies of all time and I’m happier than ever to have it on 4K. If you already have the Blu-Ray and a good 4K upscaling player, you may not notice that much of an improvement, but it is there. I’ve noticed a few split-second flaws here or there in many 4K releases, but I didn’t pick up on a single one in Edge of Tomorrow. If you love the movie, you owe it to yourself to get the best version out there and this is absolutely it.

Carpenter is a master. This is an awesome soundtrack. If you’re wondering which color variant you’ll receive it may be black vinyl or orange vinyl. I received the “charred pumpkin” black vinyl variant. Sounds fantastic.

Great bar for the money

Great soundbar for a smaller room. My living room is 13’x23’ and it is great for TV and light music. Not incredibly loud but that’s not what I wanted. Great crisp sound with no feedback. Clear as day, 10/10 would recommend. The only draw back is that it’s volume (mids) peaks at 60-70%

One of the Best Films of 2017

What are these people with their one star reviews talking about? Unlike most of the ghastly war films made recently, this stays nearest the truth of what happened and eschews the ludicrous multi-cultural, woke nonsense of films like the Darkest Hour.
No mock heroics, just a lot of tense, frightened young men thrown into a disastrous escapade not unlike that of the First World War.
And the criticisms that there weren't enough soldiers in shot. Well, look at the pictures.
Excellent acting from the old timers Branagh and Rylance and no duffers amongst the young ones either.
I bought this Blu-ray expecting not a lot, for less than the price of a bottle of Milton.
And it is far superior in scope and sentiment to the stiff upper lip 1958 version - which was fine for its time.
Excellent subtitles and a host of extras in this very English understated film.

Good movie, not for kids, that's for sure.

Great movie. You know, that kind of an old type of movie with blood and black humor. The bullets are actually leaving the holes. The characters are getting killed not in a Disney way but in a much realistic way. Perfect special effects. This movie has action, "nasty" humor, elements of drama, tension (not a lot, just as needed). Of course, there are holes in the scenario, new Hollywood ideas, etc. But if you are there to watch an action movie and not ask yourself many questions. This is the right movie. I enjoyed it.

Fantastic auto-dimming clock, even for someone who
on June 14, 2022

Prior to purchasing this clock, I did some rather extensive research and tried a few other clocks. The main thing I was looking for is a clock that automatically dims at night (and is very dim at night), and does not feel/look cheap. In the end this is the clock I am sticking with, and I am very happy with it.
Pros:
-(most important for me) I really like the auto-dimming behaviour: it is bright and readable during the day and *very dim* at night. It was very hard to find a clock that was not too bright at night.
-Does not look / feel cheap.
-Time sets automatically (presumably automatically changing with daylight savings time and all that nonsense). Can set alarm with Alexa voice commands
-While a lot of clocks have a temperature readout for inside the house (temperature sensor), this one shows temperature *outside*.
-Easy to turn off Alexa microphone with a simple switch in the back.
Cons:
-For me personally, I am using Alexa smart features of this clock so I would like to keep the microphone off at all times. This is easy enough to do with the switch, but then the clock shows a rather prominent red bar as well as a red "mute" symbol on the front face. I find these indicators "too much" and I would rather have a more subtle indicator that the microphone is off.
-It would be great to have a bit more flexibility is customizing the clock in the Alexa app. For example, it would be great to have an option to only show the time and turn off other distractors such as the humidity/temperature indicators.

Two Great Actors and a Good Story
on June 14, 2022

I found this movie a cross between tragedy and some slight humor. Great acting and a very good story line albeit a little out there especially when she wasn't put in police custody after being caught by her parole officer (maybe that is what actually happens?) and left in the car on the ferry where she escaped. The good gal won and the bad guy lost always makes for a great movie experience in my book.

Flawed, but Still Enjoyable

IT Chapter 2 is a well acted sequel that doesn’t always work. The film is a trippy dramatic epic ride even if it isn’t always scary.
It is faithful to the book even if some things were left out. Bill’s wife has a disappointingly very small role in this version. This film is so long that I am sort of glad they didn’t fit her in more than one scene though.
They mostly just chose to make it a story about friendship and love within the Losers Club. Rather than making anyone out of the Losers Club, matter too much.
Bill Skarsgard gets more room to show what he can do in the role of Pennywise. Without so much CGI stealing his thunder this time. Now I can confirm that he is about as good as Tim Curry was.
Bill Hader owns every scene he is in and really does feel like an adult version of Richie. This time we gets to see there’s big heart in the wise cracking goofball.
The flashbacks can slow the film down. Since for the heck of it we learn that Pennywise haunted them more as kids than the first film showed. Some of those scenes work and some don’t. The ones that do work, at least developed the characters more.
I do admit that some parts made me think “that was kind of dumb.” Other scenes are so good that they outshine the bad scenes however.
I enjoyed the movie a lot. I would say though that such a long movie could have probably done the book even more justice than it does. Fans of the book might still be pleased by what was in the movie

Today, the Chicago projects once terrorized by an uncanny urban legend have long since been gentrified-and graphic artist/local product Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) now shared an upscale loft with his gallery runner girlfriend (Teyonah Parris). Starved for inspiration, he started looking into the Candyman myth... only to uncover buried trauma and something far, far worse. Sequel/reboot for the '90s fear franchise co-stars Colman Domingo, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Vanessa A. Williams, and Tony Todd. 91 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

An original remake of the classic
on June 14, 2022

Candyman has always had racial undertones to it from the origination of Candyman in the 1800s to continuation of story moving into the ghettos of Chicago. Had this movie been released 5 years ago it would be applauded and appreciated for the decently written piece it is; however most never picked up on the racial undertones apparently in the one star views in the original movie series since the political climate was not driving that as an unsettling topic. Not being what is considered "woke" as the term is used today. Really appreciated the ending to this one and the incorporation of needing a witness. A witness to continue that legacy..."Tell everyone..."

One Of The Very Best Of The Series
on June 14, 2022

Of all the screen Bonds, Daniel Craig has probably come closest to fulfilling author Ian Fleming’s vision of the character--a thug with some polish and a license to kill, a British answer to the American Mike Hammer. Craig in his four previous films in the series has usually come across as the glummest chum since Richard Burton in “The Spy Who Came In from the Cold.” But “No Time to Die” finally allows the dour Craig to show some emotional range, mixing elements of warmth, humor, and heartbreak into his martini-shaken-not-stirred. Craig takes full advantage of each opportunity, and this is the one Bond film that reminds us he’s an actor.
Despite a few slow stretches and bumps in the road early in the journey, on a scale of zero to one the new film easily earns a 0.07 on the Bond meter, a notch below such classics as “From Russia With Love,” “Thunderball,” and “Skyfall” but far, far above the execrable “Moonraker” and “Octopussy.” For those viewers arriving late to the table, the film’s a compelling, timely, and intelligent action thriller. For fans and followers of the series, “No Time to Die” is 100% certified platinum.
Originally scheduled for release in April 2020, “No Time to Die” was among the very first major motion picture productions delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Postponed at first to November 25, 2020, subsequent surges in the Covid virus further delayed the film’s release to April 02, 2021 and finally to October 08. Instead of dating the picture, the plot element of an unstoppable virus threatening the future of mankind makes the picture seem especially timely, technologically up-to-date, and even poignant in the present tense.
With a theme song performed by pop superstar Billie Eilish and spectacular location photography in Norway, Italy, Scotland, Jamaica, the Faroe Islands, and London, “No Time to Die” is rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action, some disturbing images, brief strong language, and some suggestive material.
