This movie has the same delicious mixture of heart, humor, and technical wizardry that made A Bug's Life and the two Toy Story movies before it into instant classics. It's utterly delightful.
It's also funny, the characters are endearing, the monster world is cleverly developed, and the Pixar gang really has fun with this one.

I still don't know if "The Shining" needed a second act, but "Doctor Sleep" presents one that's fresh and definitely a worthy successor.
Dr. Sleep is thrilling, disturbing, and overall satisfying, It's a faithful adaption of Stephen King's novel with just enough Kubrick to please movie nerds.

[Hughes] understands adolescents as well as anyone who has ever made movies about them, and he has a fluent way with young actors. In this picture, teenage soul searching during detention definitely has it's moments.
Overall, an absolutely outstanding movie. Not only one of the best films ever made about high school-age kids, but one of the pinnacle films of the 1980s and is still just as good the 100th time you watch it as the first.
