A pleasant surprise

Bale is great...as he usually is...and the story pulls you in. It needs some trimming here and there, but there's a great cast (except for Damon from time to time) working from a pretty good script.

The best movie I've seen this year. It's funny, it's terrifying, it's unsettling, it's moving...it's all the things. Don't miss this.

Ok, Joker...

Joker is a fine movie with a, predictably, great Phoenix performance. It's very obvious where this movie pulled most of its ideas from and those are better movies to watch. But you could do worse than this this year. Pretty darn violent in the third act, but you're probably expecting that with this character.

A good movie, good story, good performances all around. Also a good reminder that plenty of experiences are truly universal. Funny and touching in equal measures.

With Emile Hirsch, Dakota Fanning, Bruce Dern, Al Pacino, and Kurt Russell. 161 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

Certainly worth the watch with the recreation of late 60s Hollywood and a pretty great performance from Pitt. Walked away from this feeling like there could have been more though...

You can certainly think this is a Christmas movie...it does take place at Christmas...but no matter where you fall on that one, Alan Rickman is a boss. Not the best movie, but it's worth a watch.

Proof that one man's classic is another man's saccharine slog of a movie. I wonder if Jimmy Stewart will learn his lesson by the end?! Someone make sure those bells don't ring.

Some parts of this are veeeery dated and then there are parts that should never have made it into the movie in the first place. But it's one of the best Christmas movies out there...just go ahead and skip that Abraham number section.
