Exactly what I wanted to gift and readily available. My son appreciated it. Covid-19 precautions were appreciated - had to line up to gain entrance one person at a time. Wear your mask. Wash you hands. Stay away from me.
Who says you need a big box for big bass? The Bose Bass Module 500 will take your music, movies, and more to the next level. Its rich, thunderous bass in a compact, 10-inch cube makes it easy to hide and even easier to hear. Wireless connectivity allows you to place the Bose Bass Module 500 nearly anywhere. Leave it next to the TV or put it under your entertainment center - the choice is yours.

Awesome sound - after moving it from the far corner of the room to the wall adjacent to the entrance of my Family Room. Even with a Wireless Mesh Router (Lynksys) connectivity to the far corner of the room resulted in a) frequent drop outs and b) just too loud to be seated in front of!
Paired with a Bose Soundbar 500 - this is an awesome combo. After becoming accustomed to the Bose Music App, it's relatively straight forward to set the EQ for the Soundbar and Speaker Level of the Subwoofer. I'm very satisfied with this combination as it fills out my modest 12 x 20 Family Room nicely.
Another positive: aside from being aesthetically pleasing to look at, the small foot print of the Bass Module 500 makes it less obtrusive to look at compared with the large, 10 year old Sony Subwoofer I've upgraded from.
I'm considering the addition of Bose Surround Speaker to complete the set, but the layout of the room is such they would be placed conspicuously close to the viewer and may not serve as an enhancement (quite the opposite I suspect.) May give this option further consideration.

For the past couple of years, leading up to Black Friday, I've taken advantage of the sales staff knowledge at BestBuy regarding a possible upgrade to my home entertainment system. This year was no different and it began when I checked out the TCL 55R625 based upon the positive reviews at CNET. It escalated from there to the Samsung QLED series Q60 (on special) to the Q70 and Q80. From there I graduated to the LG OLED B8 before considering the C9PUA. This is a seriously nice television - the picture is stunning and two months later I remain impressed with the clarity of content old and new. I typically watch Amazon Prime, Netflix and premium cable (HBO, Stars, etc.) with the occasional DVD. Resisted buying a BluRay Player when it was the hot, new "thing" as the last thing I needed was to begin collecting yet another media format. While there was modest price break on the C9PUA during November be advised the LG OLED are not TVs which become a 'Door Buster' Special. Assume a price drop will occur only as new models are introduced.
The User Interface on the LG is relatively straight forward, but I'm not making use of the voice control from either Google or Alexa (and I do not intend to.) The 'Magic Wand' remote is comfortable to hold, but the enter button is oddly placed where I find I have to adjust my grip whenever I switch from numeric input to the enter button. Best to let the relatively short delay between input and channel selection to occur normally. Establishing remote connections with my Verizon FIOS DVR and Sony DVD player worked very well and allows for centralized control of those devices. Coinciding with the purchase of the LG I also added a Bose Soundbar 500 and Bass Module 500 (considering the Surround Speakers for a future purchase.) The Bose connection to the LG works as anticipated and the 'Magic Wand' is used for volume control, but that's all: there is no provision made for controlling the EQ on either the Soundbar or Subwoofer as that is relegated to the iOS App by design. The only issue I've encountered with the LG + Bose pairing in 60 days was an unexpected loss of connectivity one evening. As the Soundbar was working fine the evening before, and still working via Bluetooth connectivity via the iOS App, etc. I had little recourse but to experiment with reconfiguring the connection from the LG. I've no idea what sequence of events restored functionality - I assume the connection was restored from having tried various options through trial and error. Upon reflection, I wonder if a software push had occurred and the devices needed to resync? No matter...
Menu control of the FIOS DVR is accommodated thru a drop down menu on the upper right hand corner of the display (a comparable menu is available for the Bose.) It is not as immediate to use as the dedicated FIOS Remote, but the indexical functionality is there. The same drop down menu is available upon selecting another device such as a DVD player. Still, no EQ access to the Bose though.
The included Apps feature Netflix, Amazon, and now Disney too. The LG content is acceptable if you don't subscribe to a premium service, but not a first choice. There appears to be a selection of local affiliate stations too which may be useful if you're a cord cutter. Adding/removing Apps is relatively easy I found when Amazon Prime became inaccessible and stuck on the configure Alexa screen one evening. I removed and reinstalled the App from the LG interface easily. There are options to add other popular Apps for cord cutters or if you desire more immediate access to subscription services like HBO or YouTube. I look forward to the eventual addition of an Apple TV App to this selection, but I find I'm not missing my Apple TV (3rd Gen) as AirPlay 2 on the LG suffices for now.
I spent a modest amount of time with an online article guiding me through the various picture quality settings, but did not spend appreciable time living with a setting other than Standard to have an opinion whether one setting was more satisfying than another. I may revisit this some time in the not too distance future, but for now I remain pleased with the default settings.
I could nitpick the user interface has more than one way to accomplish a given task, but then I'd likely criticize it for trying to be too dumb, or too smart, depending on the task at hand. Roku is said to have a great interface, but I've no practical experience to compare the two. Apple TV is dead simple - often too simple by comparison - requiring many button pushes. The LF "Magic Wand" provides for a floating cursor (comparable to a Nintendo interface) that takes some getting use to.
The 55" LG is considerably larger than the legacy (ten years old) 32" Sony it replaced so a new wall mount was purchased and Geek Squad contracted for installation. This experience went well with the following exceptions: I had two discussions with BestBuy regarding installation and prepared with new, longer HDMI cables to replace the legacy cables and purchased a new wall mount to account for the increased dimensions and weight of the LG. What was not mentioned, i.e. overlooked, was that building codes have changed in the past ten years and it no longer acceptable to run the power cord alongside the HDMI cables within the wall. To this ends Geek Squad provided a Legrand - In-Wall Power Kit as a solution, but unfortunately had only a single outlet solution which necessitated an small extension cable to accommodate power to both the TV and Soundbar. If this had been mentioned during either of our advance conversations I would have been better prepared for the additional cost (reasonable) and perhaps a dual outlet solution. The second issue was unanticipated: the flush mount lighting in my living room is not sunken in the dry wall, but an after market upgrade from Home Depot which lies flush to the ceiling. The height of the new TV is such that a modest reflection is visible on the front of the TV when viewing in the evening even when the lights are dimmed. As they are now a few years in age no doubt a current solution will allow for complete dimming, I hope to upgrade this lighting to a current solution - perhaps in 2021. It's not much to complain about, but take into consideration when choosing where to mount your TV. Any lower on the wall would be obtrusive so I remained pleased with the installation. Geek Squad did a good job with the installation, hook up and configuration. We enjoyed our time together comparing notes on which streaming services we use for hearing new music!
I'm extremely happy with my purchase of the LG 55" OLED C9PUA TV. Now that content providers have caught up with commercial offering a 4K UHD TV is a worthwhile purchase. The picture quality is outstanding - everything else was 2nd best.
I hope my feedback is of some use to someone somewhere.

Purchased as a gift for my spouse. The Nike Sport Band allows for improved comfort during exercise as the perforations make it more breathable. I've one too and find it very nice. Chose the Apple brand as a) I knew what I was getting and b) the reviews on BestBuy of other brands dissuaded me from choosing a less expensive option.
Hide the wires for your TV inside the wall with this Legrand WMC701 in-wall power kit, which is designed for most TV plugs up to 1.13" wide and offers a prewired design for simple setup. The plastic is paintable for a custom look.

While shopping at BestBuy for a new large screen (55") TV and SoundBar I discussed installation and the necessary accessories, new HDMI cables, warranty, etc., but this never came up in conversation - until the scheduled installation. The 10 yr, old LED Flatscreen and SoundBar were promptly uninstalled and we moved on to the new installation when it was mentioned building code had changed and it is unacceptable to run the power cables through the wall alongside the HDMI cables. Okay, I'm all for safety - no problem - and Geek Squad presented me with this option (at an additional cost, of course), but had only a single outlet model available/on hand. Therefore I had to affect an old school extension cable to accommodate both the TV and SoundBar power cords (obscured from new behind the new TV) to this device. I wish this item had come up in discussion repurchase rather than on-the-spot/last minute during installation - I would have been pleased to plan for and purchase a two outlet unit. Be advised.

Always experienced predictable results with Verbatim media. That being said, my experience with Roxio and various Open Source DVD RW burins software has been spotty at best.

Once upon a time I routinely used an iPod Shuffle - 3rd Generation - during my workout routine. This was one of the more peculiar Apple devices as it was smaller than a Bic mini lighter and had no external controls. There was option other than to use the included earbuds to affect Play/Stop etc. As most can attest, Apple earbuds back then were not designed to remain in place during anything but the most modest of activity. This necessitated the use of (comfortable) after-market ear buds. No big deal, but of course it required a very specific 3.5mm Headphone Adapter in order to affect control of your playlist. Sigh. I’ve long since lost count of how many of those adapters I went through - probably could have purchased a better iPod for the amount invested in them - and I’m certain I eventually arrived at that conclusion. The price of being an Apple Fanboi sometimes eludes me…
As I recently misplaced my BeatsX Wireless In-Ear Headphones I resorted to a pair of wired Sennheiser earbuds (love Sennheiser!) Subsequently I traded up to an 2018 iPhone XR (love it), but having come full circle I am again presented with the need for a special adapter. Sigh.
That said: this adapter works as anticipated and appears to be robust enough for routine usage.
And I bought a pair of of PowerBeats3 Wireless for the workout routine.
Groove to the music with these comfortable refurbished Powerbeats3 wireless earphones. Over-the-ear hooks keep them firmly in place, and they're sweat-resistant to ensure safety, even during the toughest of workouts. Purchased the PowerBeats3 Wireless as a replacement for a pair of BeatsX Wireless In-Ear Headphones that were misplaced during domestic air travel.
The Bluetooth connectivity is identical to the former pair of earbuds and work as anticipated with my Apple devices. I perceive the sound quality to be identical, but did not find the bass reproduction to be as satisfying until I replaced the eartips with the included larger size to affect a tighter seal. This also improved the comfort level.
The over the ear hooks definitely secure this wearable device during workouts, but these are not my first choice for easy listening, i.e., lounging about or to drown out background noise in a shared, common work area during business hours.
Purchased these as refurbished and all materials were like new, but the printed User Guide/Manual was omitted.
The stylish Bose Soundbar 500 speaker is meant to be heard, not seen. Its thin profile fits discreetly under the TV screen, while its powerful acoustics fill the room with sound. And with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built in, all your favorite music is just an ask away, or use it as a central hub to control your existing smart home devices.
My cd player has optical audio out and the bose sounbar 500 has an optical in, this must work but i get no sound?
Suggestion: Using the Bose Music App, check under Settings for Optical Auto-Wake and set it to ON

Can i get a DVD with more than 120 minutes?
I think that is a limitation of the media type. The only method I'm aware of is through the use of differing compression ratios supported in your burning application.
