Great Upgrade

Was coming from an Occulus v1, and was debating heavily a Quest 3 due to the price at $499 and knowing full well I would have ro put down another $50 just to replace the headstrap, which everyone says is crap on a $500 device. So when Quest 2 hit $199 it was a no brainer. Nice refresh rate upgrade and a friend who used to get sick, doesnt now. Still had to buy a new headstrao, but much easier to swallow ag $199 vs $499.

Doesn't work with official Xbox rechargeable batteries at all (won't even recognize them), which is a huge disappointment as I have quite a few and had no intention of buying more. It also only charges the Insignia batteries it came with to ~75% (or that's all they register as on the Xbox).

I saw Matrix 1 in the theaters at least 10x and I’ve seen the trilogy another couple hundred. I watched this movie once in theaters and have no desire to see it again.

LED to OLED

I came from a 65” Vizio P Quantum (2018) series LED, which was insanely bright, but gradients were terrible and had none of the newer gaming features. I’ve been pining over an OLED for awhile with my love of movies and games. I did as much research as I could, and bought while it was on sale, just before rtings released their review. I was between this and the LG C1 or C2.
I watch a lot of movies and Sony is known for their image processing and great out of the box color accuracy. This A80K was also supposed to be brighter, using the new evo panels from LG. I watch in a daylight basement with no real direct light on the screen. It can get pretty dark down there and while the A80k isn’t as bright as maybe the LG G2s or my previous Vizio, it is still bright enough and the colors are what makes my purchase worth it. The blacks are inky and the colors just pop.
The previous series A80J didn’t have all the latest gaming features, so when I saw this model had it all, out of the box and not a “someday” firmware upgrade l, that was a plus. There’s rumors that Sony does dimming when it detects logos on screen (think game HUDs) and stays in the dimmed state, but I haven’t seen it yet and if I have I haven’t noticed it on my Xbox Series X. The gaming mode tweaks aren’t as good as the LG series, but they seem fine enough.
For awesome color accuracy, image processing and up to date gaming features, this is a great upgrade. Wish it got a little brighter in HDR, but that’s a panel/technical issue.
