Finally, a modern Crash!

Crash 4 is great, with inventive new gameplay and gorgeous graphics, but still as challenging as ever. Love the fact that they modernized Crash by giving it a checkpoint system so you can retry sections over and over again without running out of lives and having to start the level over from the beginning. This ability can be toggled off if you want to go old school, back to the way previous Crash games worked with a set number of lives. But you do get a gem if you can finish a level without dying more than 3 times and luckily dying in a bonus level does not affect the death count. I like this new checkpoint system so much I wish they could go back and add it to the N. Sane trilogy.
It should be noted that Crash 4 runs at an unlocked frame-rate, which translates to anywhere from 30-60fps on the base PlayStation 4 (mostly closer to 30 and it does suffer from some judder) and a much more consistent 60fps on the PlayStation 4 Pro, which I am playing it on, and the smoother and faster frame-rate of the Pro really helps with a game like this that is all about split-second timing.
So if you've enjoyed all the previous Crash games, you'll definitely love Crash 4!

Nick Mason, drummer for Pink Floyd, rounded up some of his mates to form Saucerful of Secrets, a band he put together to play early pre-Dark Side of the Moon songs, and he hit it out of the park with this performance at the legendary London venue, The Roundhouse, which Pink Floyd played at early in their career. Recorded on two consecutive nights, the band expertly traverses these early songs, with a heavy Syd Barrett slant, which is fascinating to listen to knowing that he eventually went certifiably insane. Talk about taking creativity to a whole new level.
Nick surrounds himself with outstanding musicians and they are obviously having a lot of fun as smiles are everywhere throughout this performance. Everyone does a great job with the vocals and the musicianship is first rate.

The video quality is excellent even though it would've been nice to see a 4K transfer but it looks great as is. The 5.1 surround mix is excellent with instruments placed around the soundstage to give a really nice open concert feel to it, with the crowd obviously enjoying themselves as well.

Great flossing alternative

I recently had a bridge put in and the dental assistant tried to show me how to keep it clean underneath by threading a piece of floss under it using a kind of stiff monofilament line with a loop at the end that you used to push the floss through to the other side. Even she had trouble with that method. She also mentioned using a water pik or air floss instead and since I already had the Philips Sonicare toothbrush, I went with the AirFloss.
I'm very happy with the cleaning action of the AirFloss. Three good blasts between each tooth cleans them out very well. Very easy to get under the bridge too. The water tank is just big enough to do your whole mouth. Takes a week or so to get used to it (get ready to spray some water on your mirror when first using :-) ) but after that you're all set. And I like the fact I can use my Sonicare Toothbrush charger with the AirFloss. One less charger is always a good thing.

Nice size for travel. It has taken me some time to adjust to differences in it and a Windows laptop. I'm not happy that there is no 'Delete' button. Also, I can't seem to get a larger font for typing things like this or in boxes on other sites. Overall, I like it.

I also didn't like the fact that the keyboard didn't have a delete key on it but I looked up the keyboard shortcuts for this Chromebook and found out that if you hold down the Alt key when pressing the Backspace key it will then delete characters to the right of the cursor, working just like a normal delete key. Very handy!

This receiver is good for video, but doesn't deserve the hype it's received. I bought this on my 4k 120Hz Home Theater update and am pretty disappointed. My setup is now: LG C2 77, NR7100 in 5.1.2 configuration, Paradigm front speakers, Yamaha center and surround speakers (until I find some I like more), and Onkyo front Atmos speakers (all with 12 guage wire), PS5, XSX, Switch OLED, VR & Home Theater PC with RTX 2070 (to be updated to 30/40 series later this year). Cables are all certified HDMI 2.1 cables from Cable Matters and Infinite Cables - all support full features and tested at 48Gbps bandwidth.
The good: Excellent video passthrough and build quality, clean design, great GUI, lots of inputs and dual outputs. I also appreciate the front input as I like to hook up other things at random and this way I don't need to get behind the receiver for a simple/short-term add-on.
The bad: (1) I had trouble with getting all the features of my Xbox Series X and PS5 out of the box. By default, all inputs and outputs are set to "4k enhanced" and this limits available features. In order to use VRR/ALM/4k@120Hz you need to adjust the inputs you're using AND the output to the TV to "8k enhanced." (2) You can dim the front display, but you can't turn it off completely or have it turn off after a set timeout period. This kind of ruins the immersion when watching dark movies in a dark room. (3) I would have appreciated a cleaner front design and a cover for front I/O). (4) THE FAN is ALWAYS going. It's loud. It's scratchy. It's ANNOYING and I can hear it whenever the receiver is off - my WFH setup is 15ft away from my HT setup and I can hear it all the time while working at my desk. They used a crappy PC-style fan. IF I keep this, I will swap the fan with a silent Noctua fan instead.
The ugly: Here's my one major gripe and it's a doozy. Sound is hollow and low. I'm coming from a MUCH lower powered receiver, the Marantz NR-696, and somehow this is not only QUIETER (lower at the same levels and much lower maximum volume), but the sound is lacking/hollow. I'll be re-evaluating after making some config changes, but, as much as this receiver cost, I'm really disappointed and will likely be returning it.
Final Thoughts: There should have been more though put into the pre-configured settings of this receiver. Having to modify the input and output bandwidth was a big headache and caused me a lot of frustration.

Annoying fan noise...

You mentioned the annoying fan noise and I'm confused when you say that you hear it when the unit is powered off. Normally if a receiver has a fan, it is not running when the receiver is off or on standby so I just wanted to be clear, you are saying that the fan is ALWAYS running? Even when the receiver is off or on standby? Just makes no sense to me why they would have the fan running if the unit was off or on standby and not generating any heat. Thanks

Very impressed with this Chromebook. This is a rocket ship compared to the old 11.5" Asus Chromebook I had previously. Bright, crisp HD graphics, fast performance with its upgraded 13th Gen i5 Intel CPU and fast SSD makes this thing sing. Love the Gorilla Glass screen, makes for nice super smooth scrolling on the responsive touch-screen. The games I've played so far run buttery smooth. Also love the back-lit keyboard for when I'm using it in low-light conditions. For a smaller Chromebook like this, the upgraded DTS audio sounds great. And the fact it came with its own nice padded sleeve is just icing on the cake. Yes, this Acer Chromebook is more expensive then most other 14" Chromebooks but with all its features I found it to be easily worth every penny. Nice work Acer!

From what I have been able to find out, it looks like the single-player adventure mode has 4 players in a race (you and 3 computer controller characters), online multiplayer supports up to 8 players and local split-screen supports up to 4 players.

Do you have to be online to play the career mode?
You need to be connected to XBox Live to get to the career mode section of the game unfortunately. And to be on XBox Live you obviously need to be online.
I pulled the network cable and booted up the console to see what would happen and when I fired up the game it would only let me access the "Free Play" part of the game, which does have some championships and time trials so you can still do a fair amount of racing, but the career section is disabled. It was also trying to log me into RaceNet but I never created an account and always skipped the login because I don't care about it. So you can be online but not logged into RaceNet and still have access to the full game.
