The 2nd best in the Monsterverse

This movie is epic! It takes place all over the world. Battles are fought in the land, sky, and oceans. The movie features a very talented international cast and will appeal to youngsters and adults who have enjoyed the Godzilla (and monster) movies over the years. Sure it's campy and corny at times but the central idea of Godzilla essentially teaming up with Monarch to save the world from destruction at the hands (or claws) of the perhaps the most dangerous monster in the universe...King Ghidorah is always front and center and you can feel the stakes being raised all the way through the movie until the massive final showdown. In my opinion the first Godzilla is the best film of the 4 movie franchise from an artistic and storytelling point of view and Kong vs Godzilla is the last of the group because it's the least developed all around and only centers around the last big fight. Honestly King of the Monsters should have been the closing chapter of the series because it is so epic in scope and the human characters actually do matter but the studio believed it was more important to end the series with a big brawl between 2 icons which was ultimately underwhelming since most fans could predict that Kong and Godzilla would ultimately form a truce. Again, King of the Monsters is at the top tier of the "save-the-world-from monsters/creatures" movie genre and employs the best of 21st century CGI to take you on a crazy ride. All these movies will be rebooted again down the line but if you have a 4K set up with surround sound and have enjoyed the Monsterverse movies over the years this version is the way to go for an action packed Friday night at your home theater.

Underrated 90s Scorsese Classic

What if you were to go back in time before the mid 80s when Vegas got cleaned up and turned into a family vacation spot (well at least on the outside) and before the mob got kicked out? You would basically have the world of Martin Scorsese's Casino. Released in 1995 the movie was seen as a kind of pseudo-sequel to Goodfellas because DeNiro and Pesci reunited but it's a completely different movie. Although some similar camera and editing techniques are used Casino feels a lot more like an epic tragedy fueled by greed, lust, and the intoxication of power than a riveting, frenzied sprint through the life of a mobster and his rise and fall. So while Goodfellas is a classic Casino is a different film as evidenced by it's opening scene that employs a wonderful operatic track that's sets the tone of foreboding and how building a man-made paradise in the middle of the desert was always going to lead to painful consequences. The 4K presentation is completely true to the theatrical 35mm source with gorgeous lighting, a light layer of film grain, and lush, rich color. The lossless soundtrack does right by the classic 70s rock tracks, sound effects, and dialogue by providing true clarity and fidelity. In other words this is the dream version for fans of this film and Scorsese.

Dredd 4K Steelbook does Justice

Oozing comic book extreme action and violent clashes between Judge Dredd and the gangs that have taken over Mega City this 2012 film adaptation is a blast for anyone looking for a change of pace from either the MCU or the DCU and like their comic book adaptations true to the source. Dredd is basically the Punisher but he's allowed to wear a badge and carry a side arm because Mega City is on the brink of social collapse and the world needs someone like Dredd to maintain law and order. The movie is part dystopian nightmare and part hyper real fantasy about a law enforcement officer who is a one man special forces team that makes you root for him but at the same time fear the possibilities of our cities transforming into cesspools should social structures collapse. And oh yeah...this 4K version is absolutely the way to go with all enveloping lossless Dolby surround and an image that pops with ultra bright colors and dynamic range. Hats off to the steelbook designers who look like they are big fans of Dredd.

Gladiator was made to be an epic crowd pleaser and those who remember seeing it in the theater will remember not only the bloody gladiator death matches but also all the sweeping emotions of Maximus' journey of revenge and ultimately redemption. The 4K version with DTS-X lossless surround literally brings the theatrical experience to your home. So basically with 4K tvs becoming cheaper and the standard way to go along with soundbars that really deliver you need to add this movie to your library to get the most out of your home theater.

Groundbreaking Anime Essential

For any fan of dystopian sci-fi or cyberpunk from Blade Runner to the Matrix this is an essential film in terms of examining our relationship to not only the world wide web but questioning what it means to be human in the midst of advanced technology. Now in the age of emerging VR and a constant state of "connection" to the web Ghost in the Shell is more relevant than ever.
The new 4K transfer with HDR really pushes the hand drawn animation and CGI elements to the max and gives viewers a whole new experience combined with totally immersive lossless surround track featuring the classic score by Kenji Kawai. It also helps that the steelbook is beautifully designed with a layered approached making the slipcover and front art function together.
A must own.

A solid adventure. Not the end of John Wick

John Wick Part 3 turns up the dial on the gun play and violence but expands the universe that Wick exists in and sheds light on multiple factions, groups, and global organizations that are all battling for Supremacy. This forces Wick to leave NY, head across the ocean for safety, then return and sets the stage for John Wick 4 due in 2021.
It's definitely an engaging chapter but does not provide closure on John's story. However, if you're looking for one of the best modern action movies that helped define a new cinematic action style in the 2010's and have not upgraded to 4K this 1080p disc provides excellent video and audio in full, blazing HD.
Add this movie to your John Wick collection because you know that when part 4 comes around you'll want to do a Wick marathon the week before to catch up on all the details.

Essential Audio Set-Up for Sonos Soundbar

The Geek Squad technicians were able to connect our existing Sonos Soundbar to the new TV and make sure playback was functional on all connected devices including cable box and Apple TV. Plus the TV was mounted to create a streamlined look with the soundbar which resulted in a uniform look as if the Sonos was attached to the Sony TV. All in all, connecting audio looks easy but when multiple devices and WiFi are involved it's good to have a professional oversee all connections so you are getting the highest quality sound playback and responsiveness on all remote controls.

Our TV install took around 4 hours mostly because a new bracket had to be placed to accommodate a new motion mount and because we opted for a behind the wall clean look for the wiring. We had one pro technician at the install who brought a Geek Squad trainee which was a-okay because both were courteous and helpful in explaining exactly what had to be done to do the wiring and making sure we understood how the new set up would work. There is no doubt you can trust Geek Squad to do professional TV installs that require special services like in-wall wiring, behind-the-TV attachments (for Apple TV unit) and "hidden" surge protection (small unit placed behind TV).
