Depends on reciever. I have a direct Subwoofer out from my SONY so it's just one RCA cable. I would recommend getting a longer higher quality subwoofer cable. On my other sub, which didnt have the subwoofer in, I used the front speaker outs to connect sub and hooked front speakers into sub
