I thought Pixar annimation movies were gone

I do home theater, haven't been "out to the movies" for eleven years, matter of fact Journey to the Center of the Earth was the last film I saw in the theaters, getting off-topic. Our "movie" watching "TV" is a 75" Sony Z9D being driven by a X1000ES UBD player, running through a Z5000 ES amp. The visual rendering of this movie, simply put, are absolutely stunning in 4K. There are many elements of this movie that are pure art work, viewed on the right display. The sound (configured in 7.1.2), which is a very larger part of this movie is reference quality. It reminded us of the movie "Up", which ten years ago on Blu-ray was as good as animation gets. With all due respect "Super Hero" movies are great, however it's nice to see that movies like this that seamlessly combine all the classic elements that Disney/Pixar are known for are still being made, thank you.

Haven't watched it yet, but don't need too. We're going to do a Wickathon, these are always great movies, the whole tie-in with the "under world", it looks familiar yet new, not going to make any dog jokes.

OK, I haven't been a fan of Mr. Smith for years, however I went into this with an open mind, after all it's Disney. He was great, everybody was, good movie, visuals were off the chart, will be re watching this again for sure, probably several times, the audio was great too.

Did a Dragathon

Actually started with the first one, can't believe it's been nine years. I'll admit it, by the time we got to the end of the third one we were crying....a lot. it was like watching family part ways, great movie. About the movie, watched it(4K), through a 75" Z9D, connected to a Z5000ES, using a 1000ES player, totally blown away, the colors, brightness, and motion are unbelievable. I'd recommend this movie, great for the whole family.

The last time I watched this movie it was VHS. This blue-ray looked good upconverted to 2160 on my 65" display, I was surprised. Someone did a good job transferring this film to disc and it sounded great. I don't "buy" many blue-rays anymore, usually they come with the 4K's, but I doubt this like many other vintage movies will ever be offered on 4K so I recommend it.

I actually haven't watched this movie yet on 4K, I suppose it has the same up-tick in picture quality over typical 90's 35 mm film remasters that were out on blue-ray ten years ago. Probably not much to be gained in audio quality with nine channel sound. However if you haven't watched a version of this film ranging from VHS, DVD, blue-ray, to ultra blue-ray, you may want to buy the 4K and give it a try. This is likely the best version you'll ever see. The movie shouldn't be as popular as it is, but it just is, every one turned in a great performance, great sound track. It's probably in the top 25 quoted movies ever made, I've seen it dozens of times, and I'll watch it.....again.

I enjoyed this movie, it was like a 1960's low budget western with a descent plot

Good Grey-ray

I heard good things about this move over the years so I decided to buy it. I think if I'd seen it 14 years ago I would of liked it more, back before Disney was making Pirates of the Carribian movies and before Marvel and DC super hero movies were popular. It just seems like a mash-up between Kill Bill, Death Proof, Pulp Fiction...in black and white. Maybe I'm tired of hearing all this stuff about Tarantino's production company. Other than that it looks great for B & W but I suppose most of us don't buy nice big 2160p TV's to watch black and white movies. The actors performances I thought stood out were Mickey Rourke and the female actor that sat in the back seat of that 1971 Dodge Challenger with Zoe Bell hanging on the hood in Death Proof, sorry don't know her name. I didn't know it was based on a comic book until I watched some of the special features. I'd probably watch it again, I'd like to see the 148 minute version of it, maybe I'd enjoy it more.

A true classic

Ahhh 1979, the year I gragitated High School. With the exception of maybe Romero's NofTLD, Laser Blast, and The Incredable Melting Man...possibly Scanners there was really nothing like this around. My friends and I used to watch these kinds of movies on some late night cable channel out of SF/Oakland, maybe KTVU...Bob Wilkens Creature Feature I think was the program. I was really surprised to see it in steel box, Blu-ray with lossless audio, so I grabbed it. JJ Abrams oversaw the resto, no wonder he makes movies like Cloverfield. This is a must have "reference" disc for any sci-fi horror fan who likes things like Event Horizon. As far as picture quality, I mean it's lo budget 1970's and this is as good as it's ever going to get...so basically DVD quality that's been cleaned-up. You watch movies like this and say...good luck getting anything like that made today.

Cool cover artwork and I like Tom Hardy movies
on January 30, 2019

Actually I haven't watched this yet, I'm waiting for the price to drop some more on the 4K A/V receiver I've had my eye on for the last month, then my HT will be complete(ish). Anyways liked Tom since The Revenant and anything superhero seems to be popular and a lot of critics gave it poor reviews so I bought it, what do they know? Plus, I didn't know the actor that played the Romulan in the last NextGen movie back in 2002 or 2003 was Tom Hardy. So to sum up: Like Tom, Star Trek and artwork, so I recommend this movie in 4K.
