It feels really cheap. It does what it's made for. I am using it for my computer and we have had some bad storms here. Glad that it works.

I already have this movie on blu ray but wanted the 4k version as well. The 4k is the way to go not only for the better picture but the dolby atmos surround sound will blow you away!! If you are set up for 4k and dolby atmos you must own this movie.

Enjoy brilliant color and sound with this Panasonic Ultra HD Blu-ray player. The chroma processing technology maximizes the color of 4K/HDR content, and the 7.1-channel audio output produces lifelike surround sound when connected to a home audio system. The color signals received by this Panasonic Ultra HD Blu-ray player are upgraded to produce natural textures and depth.

This Panasonic Player Bests My Oppo UDP-203!
By NHHomeTheatre from NH
This is a short review for now, but I will add to it as I spend more time with this player.
In the short time I have owned the Panasonic DP-UB820 I have been very impressed. This a solid unit in all areas with the exception of apps. At present there are only three apps available: Amazon, Netflix and YouTube. If you are comparing this to the Oppo you're up by three. By design the Oppo does not support apps.
The Panasonic GUI hasn't really changed since I purchased the first Panasonic BD player they put out. In my opinion it is decent, but I would love to have Panasonic spiff it up. The Oppo GUI looks so much better.
Next up is build quality. There is no contest here. The Oppo has a higher build quality than the DP-UB820. BUT the Panasonic is still very well built and hefty compared to units like the Sony UBP-700. I have three other Panasonic BD players and all are still running as good as new.
Where the Panasonic really stands out is picture quality. I was expecting the Panasonic to have slightly inferior PQ compared to my Oppo 203. Much to my surprise the Panasonic has better PQ than the Oppo! The color palate is broader, colors are richer and there is more detail apparent in the PQ of the Panasonic compared to the Oppo! This unit just puts out an absolutely breathtaking picture. This is especially true for native 4K (both disc and streaming) but also when upconverting standard Blu-rays and DVDs. Upconverted BDs look VERY close to native 4K discs, especially if the BD is well mastered.
The sound quality of the Panasonic and Oppo are very close. Both sound excellent for both movies and music. To my ears the Panasonic sounds slightly warmer with a bit more detail than the Oppo. The Oppo has a colder more clinical sound.
The remote on the DP-UB820 is really it's weak spot. Having had three previous Panasonic BD players I am very familiar with the remote layout. Having said that this remote has the "Top Menu", "Netflix" and "Home" buttons too close to the navigation buttons. As a result I find myself constantly hitting the "Home" button for instance instead of the right navigation button. It's really annoying!
The other great thing about this Panasonic is that it now is firmware upgradable to handle all three of the most common HDR formats: HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. It does not support Technicolor's HDR format, but I am unaware of any 4k player that does at this time. There are very few TVs that support Technicolor HDR anyway.
To sum it all up this is simply a brilliant 4K BD player. It's nice to see such a great player from Panasonic. They have always made great audio and video products and the DP-UB820 continues that tradition!
SInce Oppo is no longer producing players I firmly believe this is the best 4K player out there PERIOD.
Now if Panasonic would start making audio components again I would be a very happy man!

I am wanting to get a stand alone 4k player and saw this model and the DP-UB900, what are the main differences between this and the 900? Is it better to buy the 900 over the 820 or vice versa? Thanks in advance.

I OWN BOTH PLAYERS AND THE 820 IS THE ONE I RECOMEND GETTING.
