Best Vizio Soundbar
on April 15, 2023
Posted by: stallion
Verified Purchase:Yes
If you can get this on sale, it is an unbeatable value. I actually had the m512a-h6 (the OTHER Vizio Atmos, DTS:X bar) and it was ok. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with it even though it was supposed to be the best Atmos soundbar for under $500. For starters that one doesn't have the upfiring speakers at the ends of the bar. They are closer to the center of the bar. The soundstage wasn't very good, the rear speakers were not very good and the bass was lacking. Also, it didn't change inputs very well. And it was updated to the latest firmware. The one thing that I did like about it was that it let you know what audio codec you were receiving. For instance, it tells you when you are getting Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Digital etc. It actually tells you, and there are different color coded lights on the soundbar to demarcate the different codecs. That I really liked, b/c I always want to know what is coming through the bar.
Well, I'm happy to say that the m-elevate pretty much solves ALL of these problems, and it looks super cool and still has the codec feature that I liked. I love that the rotating speakers light up letting you immediately know that you are getting an Atmos or DTS:X output. Sometimes people think they are getting Atmos or DTS:X through other soundbars, but they actually are not due to maybe some configuration issues. But, if those speakers pop out, rotate and light up, you know you're golden. The soundstage is substantially widened compared to the m512a-h6, the rear speakers are way better and you don't have to turn everything all the way up to hear it like the m512a-h6. I had the subwoofer maxed out on that one, and I still barely heard it. Granted I have a largeish living room and carpet, but still. It was puny. I only have the sub on this one turned up halfway, and it sits in the pocket NICE. Don't need any more than that, but it's nice to know it's there if I ever wanted more. Same goes for the rear speakers. Halfway up is perfect for me.
I honestly can't explain how much of a BETTER system this is than the m512a-h6. Like night and day. This bar keeps the only good feature of the lower model which is the codec output feature and does everything else waaaaay better. I'm happy I was able to sell my other one to upgrade to this because it was worth all the trouble.
I did want to get the original elevate, but honestly from a design standpoint it looks clunky. This one checks all the blocks. I'm sure that one MAY sound better since it's Vizio's flagship bar, but it just looks clunky which is why I opted for this one. Everything is oval and matches. The fabric is really nice. The design and audio quality for the sale price is pretty hard to beat. It's like Vizio worked out all the bugs with the previous two Atmos soundbars, and then dropped the best one. I've had no issues switching inputs, no lag, nothing. It's flawless. The firmware update from the thumbdrive seemed to take like 5 minutes. I thought something was wrong, but it finally finished and said "updated." So be prepared for that. It's not 1 minute like they say on the update page. Unless I just have a slow thumbdrive or something. But updating the m512a-h6 with the same thumbdrive did only take about a minute so it's probably not the thumbdrive.
It was between this and the Klipsch Cinema 1200. I hear that thing is a beast IF it works. Too many bad reviews to get me to take a chance. Plus, it doesn't tell you what codec you're getting, and it doesn't output DTS. So even though I really like Klipsch, I'm settled on the m-elevate. Honestly, Vizio's best soundbar to date.

If you like a lot of grain with your 4k

Really grainy with lots of unstable background flashing. Still probably the best cut to date despite this. If you're looking for clean, modern 4k this is not it. It's like watching it in the 80s with all the grain but with a lot better color saturation. Kinda wonder if that was the intent here.

Best Value!

Giving it 5 stars for value. If you can catch it on sale (which I did for $349) you will not find a better 5.1.2 for the money. In fact, for the sale price THERE ARE NO 5.1.2 systems available other than this one. I really waited before I did a review on this item to thoroughly test it over a period of months. I actually had to do a warranty exchange because after a couple of months, there were some screeches coming out of the rears, and the subwoofer started cutting in and out. This was actually evident when I first installed the system. I waited a couple of months to see if it would stop, but it didn't so I contacted Vizio and got a warranty replacement. The replacement system has been flawless. No screeches from the rears, and the sub is stable with no cutouts.
I have a bigger living room with carpet. The sub is strange. It kills it for rumbles in movies, but for music basslines it seems to be pretty weak, and I have the bass and sub maxed out. I mean, it's very clean sounding, and I like the look of it, downward firing 6" sub, and the rears are now very nice sounding with no screeches, but for music the bass is probably the way it should be. It sits in the pocket, but I kind of have to really pay attention and listen for the bass to hear it with the music. But for rumbles in movies, it will rattle the floor and walls. I'm coming from a bass heavy Klipsch RSB-6 so I got used to the sound of prominent bass. But it was a 2.1 system and many times the dialogue would get drowned out. Not so with this system. Dialogue is crystal clear. Atmos is evident when using an Atmos source. I have some Star Wars episodes in 4k, and I can hear things flying over my head. I also have DTS-X source material as well as Dolby 7.1 and 5.1 True HD and 5.1 and 2.1 Digital and DTS-HD 7.1 and 5.1 and 2.1, and they all decode brilliantly in full format. No mixdown compromises.
You NEED to do a firmware update right out of the box. Just search for that and install it from a thumb drive. That is the only option to update the firmware.
An awesome feature, and one that made me go for this one over the Samsung q700a with the 2.2 rears which I could've gotten at its lowest price for $200 more than this back in October 2021 is the info feature. The cool thing about this M-Series Atmos soundbar is that it can play every codec you throw at it in its native form. It doesn't have to mix it down or do weird things to make it sound like the format. It just plays the format natively which is great. And if you press info on the remote, it will verbally tell you what the source format is. It will tell you what it is receiving and putting out which I find an excellent feature since I am a purist, A/V collector and appreciator and want to make sure that my DVDs, Blu-rays and 4ks sound as intended. And with this 5.1.2 M-Series soundbar I never have to guess. I know exactly what audio I'm receiving.
For the $ there is nothing better right now. If you think the Polk Signa S4 could be better, well that one is $399, and it is only 3.1.2 with no rears nor is it capable of adding rears or playing native DTS. So for the sale price of $349 this is superior to that, because you get full surround sound. Once you have those rears, it is hard to not have them. I don't think I could ever go back to a system without rear speakers.
I have had a Samsung system in the past that was a 5.1, but those rears were horrible. Barely even audible at full volume. These Vizio rears are noticeable and make a HUGE difference in the quality of the sound. I think the reason these rears are so effective is that they are wired via RCA to the sub. You get everything in real time over a stable wired connection to the sub. Less moving parts. I think wireless bluetooth rears can be finicky and annoying. Such was the case with the aforementioned Samsung 5.1.
I mean unless you want to upgrade to a Vizio Elevate ($1100) or a Klipsch Cinema 1200 ($1900) for $350 for this M-Series 5.1.2 is a huge value to get you Atmos and DTS-X with all the lesser formats for a fraction of the price of those other options which in my opinion are really the only other options. I've listened to Polk, Sony, Bose, LG, Sonos, Samsung etc, and would never even consider them to the Elevate, Cinema 1200 or this M-Series 5.1.2. They are not worth their price tag, and all have little weird idiosyncratic issues with the display, remote or other features that make them annoying and distracting to me.
Oh, and the remote for this system is cool. It has a little alphanumeric display readout which is so easy to use, and so much easier than Samsung which you have to look at the soundbar to see the settings which is difficult to see when you are sitting far away. This is way better since the remote display is backlit and right there in your hand, easy to read. The look of the soundbar, sub and rears is sleek, too. The remote is very user friendly and matches up with the led lights on the left side of the soundbar. Plus, this soundbar starts right up through ARC when you turn on the TV. There is no 5 second delay like there was with my Klipsch RSB-6. There is also no annoying white noise upon startup or shutdown as there was with the Klipsch. It's like it's a part of the TV which is what you want.
You just have to make sure you have the input on the bar to eARC before you turn off the TV. If you are connected via ARC and have it set to any other input, it won't turn on with the TV until you set it to eARC on the remote if you are connected to the soundbar via ARC or eARC (my 2018 Samsung QLED only has ARC). I use the HDMI In on the bar to connect my 4k player. You have to do this if you have a TV with only ARC and no eARC (like mine) in order for the soundbar to decode all the codecs in their native formats sent from the source 4K player which can decode them and send them to the soundbar to be output to you. This is important for those with TVs that don't have eARC. In other words, if you have a TV without eARC you have to connect your 4K player to the HDMI In on the soundbar and not to the HDMI In on the TV to get Atmos and DTS-X. If you connect your 4K player to the TV HDMI In, the soundbar will not play Atmos and DTS-X for TVs without eARC when your source is a 4K disc player for either hard disc media or streamed through the player if your player is a streaming player.
If you don't want to worry about all this then get a TV with eARC.
So all things considered, you really can't go wrong here. If money was no option, I'd get the Cinema 1200 or the Elevate. But if you want a good full surround setup for a budget price, this is the clear winner every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Exchange #1 - 4k disc from first film froze in 2 locations (when Marty meets his 1955 family at dinner and when he meets 1955 Doc at his house for the 1st time). GREAT SCOTT! Look on Amazon reviews. The freeze in these locations is fairly common and is a batch issue.
Exchange #2 - 4k slipcover had significant damage noticeable upon removal of shrinkwrap, and the inlay was falling apart. Poor construction. Bloody savages. Unacceptable.
Finally went to a different, more out of the way Best Buy. Much better condition stock. Picked what appeared to be the best one, and opened it in front of customer service upon exchange. Flipped through it. Cosmetically everything was perfect. Went home and watched all three 4ks. Played flawless with no freezing or skips. Success!
Took some time to get a worthy set, but it was worth it for my collection because I'm a HUGE fan of this series. These exchanges were starting to feel like a rhythmic, ceremonial ritual...

I wouldn't pay $100 for this which is its current price. Prolly b/c inflation. I got it in March 2021 for $69 retail, and it it's worth about that. It's not the best, but it has bluetooth + microphone and some audio adjust options. You can only control Pandora and Spotify from the headunit if you're using an android phone. If you use iphone you will just have to connect through bt and control pandora and spotify through your phone. The display is only red. There is no color adjustment other and brightness. I installed this in our 2nd car only because it is an older Honda that my wife bought, and the factory radio was no longer functional. This fit the bill well.

I waited sooooo long for this to come out in 4k. Best Buy had it on sale in Nov for a killer price so I had to get it. The upgrade from Blu-ray was a moral imperative for me. 300 in 4k will blow you away. Wonderful film and in this format, Sparta is in your living room. King Leonidas would appreciate it. Not only the film, but the fact that I've chosen my words wisely. THIS IS SPARTA! Man, I gotta go work out now because just thinking about this film motivates me. That's one of the things I love about it!

New to 4K. This collection features the wonder of the entire Star Wars saga, capturing the moments from a young Anakin Skywalker's descent into the dark side to the rise of the Resistance and their struggle to restore peace in the galaxy. The story that electrified a generation comes to a striking conclusion.

The Force is strong with this set...

I ended up returning it because it was just too big for my collection. I mean the size of the set. It is a large, book. I didn't have room for the size of it in my collection. But if I did, I would've kept it because it is the penultimate collection of Star Wars. Everything in 4k, and the book was well done. Pure quality. I don't like streaming my media. I like owning the discs. If you have the money and the space this one is worth it. But due to space issues, if I'm going to upgrade to 4k on this one, I'll prolly just get each individual disc rather than the large book. People were complaining in the reviews about the sleeve holders for each disc. I didn't see any problems with this type of packaging. I always remove my discs from their cases or sleeves with a microfiber cloth anyway so no problems for me. There were no issues with scratches on the discs, and I didn't watch eps 7 an 8, but I watched all the other 4k discs, and they played just fine.

A little bit of drama with this one. I ordered it on the 1st,it was shipped on the 4th, and it was four days late getting to me being delivered on the 13th rather than the 9th as scheduled. The Crucial box was sealed but damaged in a couple of places so not a new looking box. So we're already off to a rough start.
Cloned in 5 minutes from a smaller SSD using the included Acronis software. Drive was to be used as boot drive for an older Toshiba laptop. After the swap, I got the BSOD upon boot! I thought the drive was defective since after a few more attempts wiping, recloning and even trying to do a fresh install of Windows 10, I kept getting the BSOD upon boot. Definitely NOT what you want to see with your new Crucial clone. Long story short, after almost throwing in the towel and getting ready to pack this thing up and head to Best Buy for a refund, I just so happened to notice major issues with the laptop charging system when I reinstalled the previous drive. The battery started having issues charging, and the laptop was acting erratic, shutting down randomly after charging the battery for a few minutes then all of a sudden showing 0% charge on the battery when just a few moments prior it was at 75%. Turns out it was a skunky laptop battery and not the drive. I replaced the battery with an OEM one and reinstalled the MX500. It booted right up and has been fine ever since.
Can't go wrong with Crucial. Form and function personified. Right up my alley.

I'd give them negative stars if i could. These are the worst speakers I've ever heard, and I've been around the industry (car stereo) for 25 years. There is absolutely ZERO bass and everything sounds muddled. Adjusting settings does nothing. Kenwood should be ashamed of themselves for putting out these cans. I immediately uninstalled and returned and wanted Best Buy to also refund 30 minutes of my life. They weren't able to so I figured I'd write a review cautioning others to steer clear. Name brand means nothing here.

Excellent read/write for 2.5" SATA SSD. Very happy. I actually bought two of these when they were on sale. Both were used to upgrade my mom's older laptops (2014 4th gen i5 and 2017 7th gen i3) from HDD to SSD. Very happy with the results for the price. Both laptops have been super snappy and problem free for the past 6 months now. The laptops now function like they are brand new, whereas prior to the upgrade my mom was going to buy a new laptop due to laggy HDDs and constant crashes. An HDD is a gigantic bottleneck and prone to mechanical failure due to the desgin. Clone your unreliable and inefficient HDD to an SSD and unleash the true power of your system. The only con if you have a PC is no cloning software is included with the drive. You have to own it or purchase it elsewhere. Macs have free 3rd party cloning software available if you look around so no con there.

GREAT DVD'S BUT...
By TRACE from Chicago, IL, USA
...The packaging of this DVD set SUCKS!
The DVD's are packed three high which means you have to take two off to get to the bottom one!
Also one of the DVD's wasn't labeled correctly.
This would make a terrific Seinfeld episode.
I can just imagine Kramer complaining about this.
I wonder if they did this on purpose for a joke.

Outstanding AMD Ryzen Laptop
By SlowMN from Temecula, CA
The Dell Inspiron 14 7000 2-in-1-14 inch AMD Ryzen 7 Laptop is truly outstanding and checks practically every box from design to performance. I have used Dell Laptops for many years and when I saw the most recent lineup included the Ryzen 7 CPU I was ecstatic. The setup was fast and straightforward. Dell even included a pop up warranty registration form you can fill out and submit. It creates an account and registers the computer. Should you ever need warranty support/service within the provided period you are set.
Pros:
* Design - Simply put, the Sandstorm color looks high class. It includes a backlit keyboard. The laptop chassis feels well built and is lightweight only weighing slightly over 5 lbs. It does not have a CD/DVD drive which I prefer because it decreases the bulkiness of the laptop as well as reduces the weight. Practically every software program is available digitally and if for some reason it is not you can easily attach an external CD/DVD drive. Lastly, I find the 14 inch screen size is ideal for everyday tasks. Laptops with screens larger than 14 inches feel bulky/oversized and screens smaller than 14 inches can be difficult to read text on.
* Tablet mode - This adds great functionality to the laptop making the screen touch friendly. It is an ideal feature for those who want the ability to take handwritten notes with an Active Pen you can buy separately. I have no doubt it will be able to withstand repeated 360 degree flips into tablet mode given its well made chassis.
* Hardware - The Ryzen 7 processor included in this laptop makes it one of the best in its class. It sports an 8 core 16 thread processor which is an absolute beast. If you try to find an Intel based system with a similar processor expect to spend significantly more to achieve the same or less performance. It includes a 512 GB SSD which is great considering most laptops in this price range come with a 256 GB. It includes 16 GB of DDR4 RAM which is really the sweet spot for the large majority of users. I had no trouble multitasking between multiple browser tabs, Netflix, and Microsoft office. The integrated AMD Radeon Graphics also supported light gaming (Minecraft) without any issues; however, remember this is not designed to be a gaming laptop so take that into consideration when purchasing.
* WIFI 6 Connectivity - Dell included the necessary hardware to support the newest WIFI technology, WIFI 6. If you have a compatible WIFI 6 router, you will be able to take advantage of even faster, more stable speeds. I have the Linksys Max Stream AX6000 WIFI 6 router and this laptop is able to take advantage of the new 802.11 ax standard.
* HD webcam with cover - The included built in sliding cover was a great addition. I hated having to put a piece of tape over the camera or add an external webcam cover.
* Fingerprint reader - I have always liked having the ability to sync my fingerprint for quick access.
* Touchpad - It is very responsive and accurate. I had no issues with it not registering clicks.
* Nice assortment of ports - It includes a HDMI, two 3.2 Gen 1 USB, headphone/microphone jack, built-in media reader, and Thunderbolt 3 type-C.
Overall, I really like this laptop. Dell did a great job with the design and included hardware. It offers great aesthetics and performance for the price. I highly recommend it.

Simplify administrative tasks with this Brother multifunction laser printer. Its 250-sheet paper capacity requires fewer refills while handling letter-size and legal-size paper for professional-looking documents, and the two-sided printing function at 36 ppm* helps save on paper costs. This Brother multifunction laser printer has wireless capability for printing from any portable device.

Great Entry Level Office Printer
By Trobadour from Hidalgo, TX
---SETUP---
The setup for the Brother DCP L2250 printer may require some help because of its bulky size and weight. It is recommended that you download the software via a computer instead of a mobile phone, so that’s what I did. Installation was a breeze and connecting the printer to my WiFi network was simple with the WPS button from my router and the WiFi button on the printer.
---FEATURES---
The key feature of this printer is that it can hold 250 pages in the tray, can print double-sided, can print wirelessly, and is an all in one solution for businesses (print, scan, fax).
---PERFORMANCE---
The performance of this printer is fast for small business needs. I’m a teacher and sometimes the school’s printer fails or is being used by many of my coworkers. I took this printer to my classroom and I printed 50 pages, front and back in about 5 minutes (it can do 36 pages per minute when single sided). The printer didn’t slow down and all pages came out with a great crisp look.
---EXPECTATIONS---
The product meets my expectations. I tried out the scanner mode on a wrinkled certificate award that I had received but valued. I fed it through the top auto-document feeder and it scanned my certificate in full color perfectly. I then printed a copy just to test out the side feeder using cardstock and the printer didn’t fail to impress. The only downside I found to the printer is that in the button panel itself, it only had buttons for up and down arrows to navigate. The problem is that frequently, you are asked to make options that are left and right of each other with arrows pointing up or down as your choices. This gets confusing and slows down productivity, but it just takes some time to relearn it’s quirks. I would have prefered a whole crosspad (up, down, left, right arrows) for easier menu navigation when not printing directly from a computer or mobile phone.
---VALUE---
The price for the printer in terms of value is quite competitive compared to other laser printers.
---APPROVAL---
I highly recommend this product for people who own businesses and are looking for an all in one solution to their business needs. This printer uses toner instead of ink and can only print in black and white. If your business fits this criteria, it’s a great entry level office printer with a few odd choices for button options. Still, it won’t disappoint.

One of my friend said; Polk Signa S2 & Denon DHT S316 are same, technically! Is it so?

Honestly, when I saw pictures of the Denon DHT-S316 I thought something was very suspicious. It looks EXACTLY like the Signa S2. If you look at the specs, the sizes and weights of the two bars and subs are EXACTLY THE SAME as well as the power output of 40W for the bar and sub each. So I googled whether DENON was owned by Polk. "Sound United, the company behind Polk and Definitive Technology, has announced it has acquired D+M Group, which is home to audio brands Denon and Marantz," according to CNET on March 1, 2017. My guess is that they are pretty much exactly the same, but slap a higher end brand name like Denon on it, throw it under "Magnolia" and jack the price up $150, your ears will never know...I've heard the S2 but not the Denon, but I'd bet dollars to donuts they sound EXACTLY the same.
