Either by purchase or gift, have gotten a lot of these, in varying amounts, over the years, and with only one glaring exception from a few years back they've all worked well.
The exception was a card ordered from and delivered by BB: even though the card arrived unscratched, the revealed code was never accepted - Sony said it was invalid... go figure. After a couple of return trips to the local BB, with documentation, the manager exchanged it for another, which worked.
Estimating an average of just 3.5 a year since getting the PS3 in Dec.'09, it still means only one bad out of over 40 used. Will take them odds... and it feels safer than using the credit card on the PSN.

This may verge on sacrilege for some, but I bought this for my PS4, which Sony in their wisdom(?!?) only gave 2 USB ports to; with the purchase of the PSVR, and already having an external hard drive plugged in, I needed more ports.
Considered a bunch of powered hubs, but concerns of power feedback damaging the VR or console scared me off of 'em. Too many other non-powered hubs on my usual sites were either strange brands, a poor mix of 2.0/3.0, or ridiculously costly for what i wanted. Found this unit on the online clearance rack, and thought to give it a try.
Only have the hub's main cable plugged into the PS4 - the power cable is loose right now, but have a low-amp outlet adapter just in case. So far, tho, haven't needed it - the PSVR works fine connected to this hub, in addition to the cord for the controller. Have wired headphones sometimes plugged into the DS4, and have yet to experience any sound disconnects that a previous (quickly abandoned) reputable brand hub gave me. An acid test may come if/when I use the PSVR and headphones at the same time.
But as things stand now, for the money, it's been very worth it.

Does this have the cooling fans in it?
Nope - sorry, no fans; designed to work passively drawing air thru.
