High on Promise, Low on Delivery, Yet Still Great

Picture quality for a non-HDR 4k is excellent. Easily the best this movie has ever looked. However, Funimation promised HDR on the package, but shipped a non-HDR disc. They have pledged to ship a refactored 4k disc with HDR once it is created, if you send them proof of purchase etc, so they are working to correct the mistake. The package ALSO stated there was a Funimation digital code inside, which was not in there either... but Funimation is NOT pledging to correct THAT error. Truth of it is, I am a physical copy person, so it is not that big of a deal... but the entire advertising v delivery is pretty bad on this one. Excellent 4k transfer regardless.

4k works wonders with this classic! Love the grain, where only a few minor places (in dark scenes) can the grain be noticed as odd. These are places you really have to be looking for to see. Other than that, it's very filmic. Wonderful crisp, clean, great print. Sound is great for such an old movie, and Atmos is a nice addition, and if you have a system with discrete overhead channels, it opens things up quite a bit. The movie deserves such a quality 4k treatment. Well done!
The steel is nicely minimal and a finish that is not glossy, so it doesn't show fingerprints as quickly. Very good package.

I would have rather had an 8 or 10 foot version, but 12 or 6 was all my local store had on hand. Regardless, the cable is well-built and does everything a more expensive brand-name does. Works for 3D and 4k, with HDCP.

Great Steelbook on an OK Movie

Steelbook is nicely styled, even somewhat minimalist. Not a glossy fingerprint magnet either. Very well done, even if the movie is a bit overrated. I'm not saying the movie is bad per se, just that with the flawed elements within (e.g. the overdone cat gag, the missed moments of really endearing Danvers to us [witness the moment she could have given her jacket to the kid, creating a hero moment, but would rather fly off and burn it up in the atmosphere, never to be seen again] or the lame backstory on how Fury got his eye) the movie is a bit of a miss when compared to the greatest of Marvel. Not Incredible Hulk bad, but on the level with the first Thor. Just ordinary.

Is the light a full spectrum LED?
I don't think they have any specs listed about the light, though reviews (particularly the Wirecutter) mention the natural look the light lends to all subjects. My own experience is that it's a decent light that I use sometimes, but is not required for most uses unless you are in an unlit room. Turning it on or off is as simple as rotating the outer ring when the camera is in use. Hope that helps.

if I use this to power a small device and its on trickle mode, may I continuously use the small device while it charges? More specifically, will it always charge until I turn it off?
This is a battery with a USB connection to charge. Treat it no differently than a USB wall-wart. If your device is expecting a USB connection to charge, then this will charge it until the internal battery runs out. As with ALL lithium batteries, if you are charging the battery and discharging (using) it at the same time, heat is a real issue and lifespan is DRAMATICALLY reduced. This becomes an expensive paperweight very quickly, with overall power output reducing quickly over time when discharging and charging at the same time.
If you are asking about charging the portable battery while IT charges another device, as mentioned above, don't do that. Plus, if you have access to an outlet to charge the portable battery, why not just keep your device plugged in? There is no benefit with this battery between the wall and your device.
If you are asking about whether you can use your device while it is plugged in to this portable battery, then if you can do so when it's plugged into a wall, you can do it when plugged into this battery. Treat the battery just like a wall charger.
