The tone mapping of HDR10 content is the best on the market, period. It also is capable of processing Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content as well. For the price I expected a much more robustly built case, similar to that of the now discontinued Oppo UDP-203. To get the build quality from Panasonic you have to step up to the DP-UB9000 which cost twice as much and adds tone mapping settings for projectors as well as superior DAC's for two-channel listening.

I pre-ordered this and picked it up from my local BestBuy. When I got home and opened it, I found the back of the case had been dented in, since the SteelBook movies are popular there were none to exchange it with. I've pushed out the case as much as possible so that it is usable but recommend those buying any steelbook movies to closely inspect the metal casing before buying. I prefer the steelbook cases so I ended up keeping it. As for the movie, the Dolby Atmos track is definitely an improvement for immersive ceiling channels.

The 4K re-mastering jobs on movies this old are not easily done. Cliffhanger was cleaned up quite nicely while still maintaining a bit of the graininess. Views in this movie are quite breath-taking.
