This second installment of Jumanji is just as enjoyable as the first movie, but it could have been SO much better had they chosen to release it to home video in 3D.
The movie was framed with 3D in mind, and while the 4K UHD presentation looks amazing, I miss being able to relive the full 3D theatrical experience.
Details, color, and shadow levels are top notch. Dolby Atmos audio is active through all channels, placing the viewers solidly in the center of the action.

History tasks a back seat to effects and loud soun

4K Picture quality shows an excellent level of details, and the many computer generated effects blend seamlessly with live action footage.
The problem that I have with such CG heavy films is that, much like the average Michael Bay movie, they often lose the human element in favor flag-bang look how awesome these effects are. This isn't a Michael Bay movie, but it has all the hallmarks.
That said it is a fine diversion with great picture and active audio that will have you ducking for cover!
...still, the originalb1976 film of the same name did it better, with practical effects and a cast of cinematic icons

It's "okay", just not "Cameron great".
The movie looks and sound great. It's just that the story is a bit "eh". It isn't up to snuff, given James Cameron's involvement.

Stunning detail in a overlooked & underrated movie

Purchased the HFR (60fps) UHD showing, and found it to be (excluding the poor CG effects in the epilogue) technically amazing, with stunning images that were clear, detailed, and colorful!
Director Ang Lee (Life of Pi) really pushes cinematic technical boundaries and integrates some good discussion-worthy topics (in this case, "nature vs nurture", and the moral ramifications of science).
I don't get the HFR haters. This was shot natively, and does not have the artificially induced Soap Opera Effect that is found so distracting.
The story was not as deep as some, but far better than others I have seen.
Aside from Ang Lee's push for shooting in HFR, which bothers some people. I have an issue with artificially boosted frame rates, because it isn't what the director intended, but this was shot natively at 120fps and I respect the artist's choice.
Few theaters showed it in its native 120fps 3D format. I caught a 3D showing projected at 60fps and noticed exceptional clarity and 3D free from eyestrain. One particular action screen, where bits were shot in super slow-motion was nothing short of amazing.
The only issue I had was the epilogue, with the young Will Smith looked 'off'. Other than that, it looked amazing.

4K images are amazing in this, the second chapter of the feature film version of the Stephen King novel IT.
Pennywise is as creepy as ever, however having the now grown-up children reduces the creepy factor and feeling of concern for the characters.
Sound is active throughout all channels. Color are vibrant, but often muted in the dark scenes, however images are sharp and clear.

Yes, but only due to the pancake lenses and more densely packed pixels.
The tall improvements will be seen as more applications are updated to leverage foveated rendering. To date, Red Matter 2 is the only game to take advantage of this and it really shows in the improved clarity of text in a game that was already cutting edge where graphics is concerned.
