If the specifications and description had been accurate when I purchased this I would give it 5 stars. The item is described as having a steam function, which is listed in the specification section of the Best Buy product page. It does not have a steam function, nor does it have the required connection on the back for a steam function. My purchased was based in part on this information, so I'm disappointed. Other than that, it's a decent product.

I purchased this for the surge protector. The included HDMI cables were going to be a bonus. Unfortunately, the HDMI cables did not work with any configuration I tried (4K to 4K devices, 1080p to 1080p devices, 1080p to 4K devices, 4K to 1080p devices, 720p to 4K devices, 720p to 1080p devices). My existing HDMI 1.3, 1.4, and 2.1 cables did work in all of these configurations. I'm happy with the surge protector.

Is this a hard case or a soft case? I mean does the shell have any give to it or is it solid?
It's a hardshell case, but if you put enough weight on it you will have some give. You could probably put several heavy books on it without any give, but it wouldn't provide protection from a heavy box of books.

can you use the Amazon Smart Plug to dim lamps plugged into it?
No. The plug only changes the on/off state. The options to dim the lamps would be 1) if the lamps themselves already have a dimmable switch and a dimmable bulb you could dim manually using the lamp switch - or 2) install a dimmable smart bulb that works with Alexa. TPlink makes some pretty good smart bulbs that will work with Alexa via the Kasa skill. As an additional bonus, TPlink also makes dimmable color changing smart bulbs that can be controlled by Alexa, allowing you to choose both brightness and color.

I got TPlink smart plug and never did figure it out. Is this one really easy? Also my question really is will it work with lamps with inline switches?
It will work with a lamp with an inline switch - BUT - you would have to keep the inline switch always set to "on". If you set the inline switch to "off", Alexa will not be able to turn the light on again. By keeping the inline switch set to "on", the Amazon plug can itself be turned on and off using Alexa, thereby controlling power to the lamp. As long as the inline switch is on Alexa can turn the plug on to let power flow to it. If you turn the inline switch off, Alexa would be able to turn the plug on and allow power to flow to the lamp, but with the inline switch off the light will not turn on.
If you still have the TPlink plug, you can install the Kasa app on your phone. Then you can enable the Kasa skill in Alexa to integrate Alexa with the TPlink plug.

Will the amazon smart plug work with my sons electric bed with Alexa
If I understand the question correctly, yes, it will. You can plug the bed into this plug. You can then either use the Alexa app or an Alexa device such as an Echo to control turning the bed on and off. You can also go into the Alexa app to create a routine for things plugged into this plug. For example, you can schedule the plug to automatically turn the bed on at bedtime, and turn it off a short time later.
