Final GOT steelboook

This is the final best buy "exclusive" steelbook for GOT. This time around it is being released as a 4K/blu ray package. I really wish it would have been released this way from the beginning. Now I have 7 blu ray seasons and one released in 4K. Consistency really seems to be lacking from studios in the physical media department. The magnet is much bigger and stronger on this release as well. The style however is similar to the previous releases. I was able to buy one of the three my store had only after It was exchanged due to a boxcutter slash on the spine. I noticed this in the parking lot before I even left.

1989 Classic with new vitality

The new 4k steelbook of this 1989 classic is GORGEOUS! Hits a home run over the original artwork. The new 4K remaster breathes new life into the film but still maintains aspects of the original. The grain is still there, so film is not razor sharp. The HDR unfortunately tends to darken the image a bit but its not too terrible. The audio from the original blu ray (DTS-HD) is replaced with two upgraded mixes, DTS X and DTS- X Master Audio 7.0. The film has aged very well and deserves a space in anyone's collection

Stunning colors

The 4K blu ray steelbook features the graphic novel art instead of the current trend of "cover art" showing either floating heads or cast members lined up on the cover. One thing to note is that if your were wanting the 3D version, it is not included in this steelbook. I actually had trouble locating it in my local store. Other than that, it is a great looking steelie.

The review is mostly for the 3D version. Surprisingly, this movie was post converted to 3D, but you would never know it. There is so much going on, that there is no time for the usual and cheesy gimmicky sword in your face shots usually associated with 3D movies. It is very immersive and borders on VR. The 7.1 Dolby audio will rattle the room. Fantastic fun.

This reboot of the Godzilla franchise is really a lot of fun and way better than the one that came out in the 90's. This one has a more serious vibe to it and has some great homage scenes to the original japanese version. The 3D is great but the picture is not as bright as the regular blu ray. The audio however, (if you have a good sound system) will blow your windows out.

Who has not seen the Wizard of Oz before, right? Think again when you see it it 3D. This movie was restored to 8K a few years ago and downconverted to fit the blu ray. The results were amazing. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Origins story

This is where it all began. This is the Alien prequel that we have been waiting for. It does take a few viewings to piece together all of the different phases of the genetic mutations before it becomes the alien we have all come to recognize. The 4K and audio are outstanding. I also have the 3D version which is mindblowing to see if you have a 3D TV. Why this is being phased out is beyond me?
