Big Disappointment
on August 6, 2019
Posted by: YourMainDude
Verified Purchase:Yes
Either MSI has pervasive quality issues or I simple lost "the display panel lottery". Upon 1st firing up this laptop to set up Windows, I was shocked at the extent of back light bleed coming from 3 corners of the screen - and also along the bottom and right edges. When I went back into my local Best Buy store, the exact same display model looked perfect. I understand the potential for IPS glow - which this gaming laptop also had - but the back light bleeding was major, clear & distinct. It's really a shame considering what the configuration has going for it: Light weight, a solid feeling keyboard (in partnership with Steel Series) that has striking lighting profiles, dual channel memory and a fast WDC solid state NVME drive. I was happy to have a 1660Ti as ray tracing isn't a big enough benefit in my eyes ... yet. And the 9th Gen CPU was good to have too.
Putting the screen issues aside, the amount of bloatware on this laptop was also aggravating. The fans were noisy (pitchy) and I detected some actual ticking sounds along the way. The screen panel feels super flimsy and you can see how just touching it immediately impacts the light bleed problem - when lifting it open for example. Something is seriously wrong with how MSI sandwiches the IPS panel within the structure of the frame. It's either a workmanship issue or a simply a poor design.
Pros:
Lightweight
Fast & responsive
Conservative styling (for a gaming machine)
Steel Series keyboard
16 GB of RAM already in dual-channel mode
Western Digital NVME
Cons:
Horrendous back light bleed
Flimsy lid
Over-the-top bloatware
Fan ticking
There is key cap light bleed as well. Personally, I'm not bothered by it but I do know that it is a peeve for many - so it's worth noting.
I ended up not rolling the screen lottery dice any further. After looking at the other competitive brands on display, I went with the Zephyrus that has the 1TB Optane drive, for a small amount more. Screen uniformity on it looks fantastic.
If screen uniformity is an important factor for you, be prepared to either play the display lottery game ... or look elsewhere. I dislike having to return computers more than once and in this case, the screen issues were so bad - I knew it was time to switch brands.
I cannot recommend this 15.6" Stealth line and would expect the 17" bigger siblings to be even worse - due to the flimsy construction.

Power Drain a Problem
on August 1, 2019
Posted by: YourMainDude
Inconsistent battery drain during (off mode or standby...who knows) observed after several weeks of ownership. If you turn off the bud with the Sony mobile app and set them down on a table for several days, one bud will report high battery level while the other will report 20% upon their next usage. Within minutes of usage, the low boy will power down following a voice prompt.
This needs fixing.

This is, by far, the best keyboard I've ever owned. It is touted as being Linear-Quiet but some may find it still a bit too loud. I'm OK with the dampened click feedback. The lighting control is truly amazing and looks great. Steel Series demonstrates consistent software support without all the glitchy nonsense and bests even the biggest name competitors.
Having been a Tactile kind of guy for many years, this keyboard has convinced me that Linear is better. Super fast and precise. Worth every penny.

Great for music and noise cancellation
By Rocky
These are the best earbuds for music and noise cancelation. People talk - I don’t hear them. My neighbors ac unit goes on - I don’t hear it.
The only downside is that they don’t do a great job of picking up your voice in phone calls - I’ve been told it sounds like I’m in a tunnel.

Disappointed, overhyped
By OJSilk
Positives:
•Good sound (though not impressed).
•Solid Noise Isolation (for small buds – not near Bose QC35 II).
•No volume control (big miss IMO).
Neutral:
•No IPC rating for working out (perhaps due to technology limitations with NI – fair trade off).
•Large case (extended battery trade off).
Negatives:
•Unknown battery status for case.
•Must hold down each earbud (L&R) simultaneously for 7 seconds to setup additional bluetooth pairings (a big issue for someone with 1 arm or someone who’s arm is injured, like me).
•Sony headphone app is terrible (always needs to reconnect).
I’ve opted for Powerbeats Pro as my every day, go to headphones over these Sony’s. Disappointed as I bought into reviewers hype. As an IOS user, I prefer PBP – who offer excellent sound, battery & have an IPC rating. I also used & was happy with Airpods for a while but battery was subpar, especially after 2+ years of use.

Worked for 3 days
By Disappointed
I received this as a gift from my wife. It worked great initially, then after two days one of the earbuds quit working. It doesn't light up at all. I tried the "hard reset" that was recommended but it didn't do anything. There was no water damage and I didn't even take them outside. It just quit. I will have to decide if I want to roll the dice with a replacement unit or just return it and go with a different manufacturer.

Doesn't achieve 5 stars...
By YourMainDude from The South
The Sony WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones are an amazing leap towards perfection - but they fall short.
These ear buds are big. And in terms of 'ear'gonomics - they are uncomfortable, have a strange center-of-gravity and as such - they don't instill confidence when wearing them. Those are just the facts. Not quite sure what dictates the shape & size, perhaps it is the noise cancelling/ambient sound microphones and/or the battery, but It doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense no matter how you look at it. I've tried the various ear pieces and none of the smaller ones, more suitable for my ear canal, stay snug or provide what I would deem a truly comfortable fit. It's kind of a shame...
The Sony Headphone Connection app for Android is actually one the best I've used. All the functions and status information is laid out in a nice linear fashion. You get battery status, a super logical EQ and various other setting controls. There's even a 'power off' function at the top of the screen. I don't believe I've ever seen that provided by the competition.
Pairing was quick, smooth and simple. I had these ear buds working with my S10 Plus in mere minutes.
Another area keeping these ear buds from achieving perfection is the presence of compression artifacts (high frequency noise) that is generated and sits dead center in the sound field. If you turn off all the sound enhancement features - which these have a nice set of for various use scenarios - the detection of the noise in the upper treble region is diminished. DSEE HX doesn't help but avoiding the brighter EQ settings does help mask the problem... as does disabling Adaptive Sound Control and Ambient Sound Control. One thing worth noting is that Ambient Sound Control keeps defaulting to 'On'. I'd prefer that it didn't to be honest. The sound quality vs. connection reliability control is also another that impacts the severity of the compression artifacts. So in the simplest of terms, the app is good - but the obvious stack up of DSP functions of this product is a bit over-the-top and combinations of them contribute to the distortion issues.
The voice prompting is pleasant and precise. The overall volume (gain) is also good - even considering the presence of the digital compression distortion. These headphones have excellent bass response. Clear, articulate and punchy!
Battery life is outstanding, the charging case is solidly constructed and intuitive to use - and I really appreciate the decision to use a USB-C connector.
Generally speaking, these ear buds sound good (almost great...) - assuming that you find the right settings to tone down the sharp & noisy treble region, but they are bulky and nowhere near what I would call 'ear'gonomic. Not what I expected to come away with for a pair of in ear, stereo headphones at this price point.
Pros:
Easy to set up.
Great battery life.
Excellent charging case.
Impressive bass response and plenty of sound volume.
Cons:
Digital, compression distortion in the treble region.
Bulky and not snug fitting.
Can be uncomfortable to wear for longer listening periods.
I wouldn't recommend these to anyone until such time that Sony cleans up the sound processing, after which I would say - see what you think about the fit & feel in your own ears. So they receive 3 stars as-is and I would bump them to 4 if they can clean up the noise issues. But with that said - there is no way these are a 5 star product considering shape, size & fit.

Beautiful Clarity, Uniformity could be better
By Derrick
Being a previous Plasma owner, I am surprised to say I am impressed. Overall this T.V. is absolutely stunning. The 3D performance is better than any T.V. I have owned. The colors pop, the blacks are inky, and the up-scaling is better than I expected.
My only complaint is the uniformity. On near dark scenes, you can easily see vignetting (vertical banding) across the screen. Its not terrible, but it is distracting. If it weren't for that, I would give it 5 Stars no doubt. Perhaps over time this will improve, if so I will update my review accordingly.

Not Ready For Prime Time ...
By YourMainDude from The South
The ROCCAT KAIN 200 AIMO is common form factor gaming mouse with one exceptional quality ... the scroll wheel.
Certainly there are other more extravagant offerings in the market, with elaborate RGB lighting schemes & custom weight configurations - but this mouse isn't one of the those. It's clearly targeted at a specific segment of the market, one that wants a familiar shape & feel to the hand and with design simplicity in mind. The left & right Titan buttons are touted as being strong & precise. Personally I felt that they are run-of-the-mill buttons in feel but no less precise. Where this mouse really stands out is the feel and action of the center scroll wheel. ROCCAT nailed it. I don't believe I've ever experienced any other consumer based wheel that rolls and clicks like this. It's in a league of its own. Mouse glide on a rigid surface is excellent but I wasn't nearly as impressed on cloth. Your impression may differ. I simply found the friction force to be too great, even with all the precisely positioned glide pads. I'm still surprised companies are not using USB-C connectors in their peripherals. What's up with that?
Overall I like the ergonomics of this gaming mouse - especially the killer scroll wheel - but where this product falls short is in the Swarm control software and cursor persistence in actual gaming.
First the software - The Swarm software crashes on me constantly. Randomly out of blue when using my computer and sometimes when actually manipulating the mouse settings & lighting. Sometimes it doesn't actually crash but simply closes out on its own. What?
The bigger problem I experience is what appears to be a cursor persistence issues during gaming. I've tried reinstalling the software a bunch of times to no avail. By cursor persistence I mean, pointer visibility. In various games I noticed that the pointer disappears, sometimes for a split-second ... other times for several seconds or more. And when it reappears, it can pop up in an unexpected position on my gaming monitor. I own a huge collection of gaming mice and none of them behave like this. I was able to verify this strange behavior with both wired & wireless connections ... so I know it's not a wireless interference problem. Perhaps future software updates will rectify the issue. One can only hope...
One last note - RGB control is one dimensional. What you set is what you get for both the wheel illumination & the ROCCAT logo.
That is a big oversight in my humble opinion.
Can't recommend this mouse at this time; not until ROCCAT addresses the pointer persistence issues.
Pros:
Simple yet elegant design.
Excellent hard surface glide.
Outstanding scroll wheel action.
Extensive power & DPI precision controls.
Cons:
The so-called "performance coating" just feels like smooth plastic.
Swarm software crashes constantly.
Single dimension of RGB lighting control.
Micro-USB connector. Yuk!

Follow-up...
October 29, 2019
A correction to my original review but it doesn't impact the score. Although not intuitive straight away, you can customize the scroll wheel lighting independently of the ROCCAT logo. You can even adjust the brightness of each and drive either down to OFF. Took some digging to try all the settings, but they ARE there. And now that I've played with this mouse a bit more, I've noticed that the light phasing (gradient, breathing, etc...) is less than smooth. Some may find this 'look' to be subpar.
Still can't recommend this mouse.

Nice Mouse - nonexistent instructions
By Waggly from Chillicothe, IL
OK...so I'm a casual gamer. I thought to myself "hey..maybe I'll like a fancy gaming mouse". I wasn't wrong, it is nice, but I'm not sure I understand all of the hype.
When I opened the mouse, I was surprised to find no instructions in the box. Just a mouse, dongle, charging cable, and some other piece that I'm still not sure what to do with.
I plugged the dongle into my laptop and it fired right up. No issues there are all. The mouse has a very nice feel and fits nicely in my hand. The length of the mouse was nice. I was able to relax my hand nicely and didn't have cramped fingers. The buttons are well placed and very responsive. I definitely like having the DPI button right on the mouse so I can quickly switch between the 5 preset options. I can see where this will be helpful in certain games when I'm moving between close quarters combat vs long range sniping.
Here is where I got confused by the lack of instructions. I knew that a mouse of this quality had to have some type of configuration software utility but there was nothing in the box. So I looked up the mouse online and found the manufacturers website. I was able to navigate through their products and find my mouse. The site then prompted me to download their utility software.
Once the software installed, it immediately wanted to run an update. I found it odd that they don't have the most current version set up as the default download, but the update ran smoothly enough, so no big deal. As soon as the software had updated, it told me that both the dongle and mouse needed to be updated as well. It said to update the dongle first, and then the mouse but didn't tell me how to do that. I was sitting at an update screen with the update button grayed out. It wasn't until I actually connected the mouse to the charging cable and plugged the cable into the USB port on my computer that they update button because available.
Once I clicked the update button, it ran through it's paces and then said everything was up to date. So, after they told me to do things in a certain order, the software just did it all however it wanted anyway.
OK...so I'm still trying to like this thing at this point. Then I start looking around in all the settings. I find lots of cool features such as multiple profiles that you can customize for different games and such. Plenty of cool things to do with the lights on the mouse. Highly customizable PDI settings and easy key bindings with Shift Click options. Looking good.
I start to play around with these setting only to realize that nothing I change seems to stick. I'm now confused and frustrated. I messed with DPI and lights and couldn't make the changes hold. I kept looking for a save or OK button but didn't see one. Finally, as a last ditch effort, I maximized the software window. Low and behold, there was an OK button at the bottom. The default window size and placement for the software had put that section of the frame under my taskbar, so even if I scrolled down, I still would never see the OK button. It was a horrible UX experience for me and really killed my excitement over this product. Maybe if you know all of this ahead of time you can enjoy your new mouse a lot more than I did.
Anyway, once I finally figured out the UI and started playing around with settings I found it to worked very well. Lots of toys to play with.
There is one odd piece of hardware in the package that I just don't get. It is like a converter that seems to change the charging cord from a mini usb to a full size usb when it's not being used to charge the mouse. I'm not sure I understand why I want that or what they intend for me to do with it. I can't really review that piece because I have no idea what it is meant for.
Unfortunately, I found myself thinking "this is cool, but why do I need all of this stuff on a mouse"? My conclusion is that I really don't. While it's fun to play with and gives me some Nerd Street Cred, it's just not necessary for a casual gamer. I'm not good enough for a 16ms different in click response time to matter. Perhaps a professional gamer would notice...I couldn't.
So, I like how it feels. I like how it responds. I like the DPI button. I like the profiles I can save in the software. I don't like the lack of instructions. I don't like the updating processes. I don't like not knowing what the other piece of hardware is meant to be.
Overall I think it's a fine mouse, but probably too expensive for what I'll actually do with it and way overkill on customization settings for most people. Perhaps if the experience had made me feel smart instead of dumb I would feel differently, but I just can't find a lot to be super excited about.

Apart from Steelseries...
October 31, 2019
Apart from Steelseries who seem to keep a solid grasp on maintaining software that works, most other gaming peripheral companies are having huge issues with software that makes sense or that works reliably. Logitech is probably the worst of the bunch. Their 'Hub' software is utter garbage.

Excellent Choice for Price and Performance.

I had never owned a Labtop and been researching for months on guys and clubs and how much ram weither it be one or dual channel and what gtx or rtx to get. And the 60hz.or 144hz or more.its all very much, just to much. HANDS DOWN. I open the box. I was drowling how Beautiful the colors and the RGB AND SCREEN IS AMAZING. ITS VERY FAST CLEAN NO GHOSTING. The On Board Asus Controls, where the fan speeds and GPU and CPU settings are are very easy to use. The fact they left room to upgrade is the best you'll find in a Labtop. The price 1349. When bought was a steal in my mind. Only wish it had a Webcam and the windows glass tracked. Very pleased an will buy more Asus products in future.

Asus Dropped the ball on this product ...
April 22, 2020
Asus Dropped the ball on this product ... the GU502GV support webpage is gone. If you contact the higher ups in the Asus support chain, they are oblivious to what downloads are applicable to this model. If you use a 'near' model, many of the download pages don't even have EXE installation files. Asus is broken.

Nice laptop. A few Asus glitches though.

Purchased this pc after reviewing online. It was chosen over a comparable Razer model. 1tb of storage made it favorable.
Although the Armory Crate bundle was advertised and per-key color mapping was on Asus website as a plus, it really isn't reliable.
Several calls to the Asus support site finally did get it working. Further searching on the ROG site shows I'm not the only one with the same issues. Followup emails from Asus said there is no timeline for a fix. The laptop does work very well even though there are misleading features of it. Best Buy does not have either of the advanced models of this and the Razer laptop in store. Bummer!

Heighten your gaming experience with this VR-ready NVIDIA GeForce RTX Founders Edition graphics card. The NVIDIA Turing architecture incorporates real-time ray tracing and AI features for enhanced realism, and the 8GB of memory supports peak resolutions and frame rates. Dual-axial 13-blade fans and a vapor chamber keep this NVIDIA GeForce RTX Founders Edition graphics card cool and quiet.

Will this PCI Express 3.1 x16 card work in PCI Express 3.0x16 slot? Limitations?

3.1 specs are presented to make this card - what they call - future proof. That said, saturating a PCI 3.0 link isn't even a thing yet - 3.1 is simply a marketing push. Believe it or not, this card performs just as well at 3.0 x 8 as it does if allowed to link at 3.0 x 16.

The image for this card shows a DVI-D connector. The specifications only lists HDMI and DisplayPort. I need DVI-D and have found adapters to not work or provide sub par resolutions. Which is accurate? Pic or Specs?

You should always double check the manufacturer specs on their website. The 2070 Founders Edition does have a DVI connector. I purchased mine from Best Buy.

Get in the game and keep up with all the action on this Logitech gaming keyboard. The slim design fits easily with gaming setups, while LED backlit RGB mechanical keys are programmable to meet specific gaming styles. Multi-key rollover turns every shot or battle maneuver into a single motion. The cylindrical key shape of this Logitech gaming keyboard provides an easy touch and effortless interaction.

Is the carbon model tactile or linear keys? Which one is best buy selling?

I've only seen the 'Clicky' version available. Seems like Best Buy is continuing down the path of limiting their product/inventory commitments. I guess that happens when you are still closing store locations...
