If you loved DOA fighting games before, you'll love this. It's more like a DOA 5.7 because you can pretty much use 90% of the previous game's moves and mechanics except for the power blows/power launcher which is now replaced with break blows/cancel/break hold on a meter system. There's also the fatal rush/stun which is new to the series. If you rely only on the previous game's mechanics, you can definitely get by but you'll be at a disadvantage against someone who uses the new mechanics. Overall, it's a decent evolution for the series.
The base roster is decent but lacking for someone coming from DOA5LR. Expect more to be added as paid DLCs, the typical business model these days. With Koei Tecmo, expect $1000+ worth of DLCs/revisions for the life of this game. My advice, spend the $100-$150 on characters/revisions and bypass the $900 costumes. Speaking of costumes, the built-in ones now require heavy grinding, RNG unlcoks, and purchase with in-game currency; another modern business practice. Also, the game doesn't have online lobbies. Rank match is the only online mode so you can't play with your friends. The devs said they will patch lobbies in within a month. We'll see. DOA5LR on PC never got lobbies during its lifetime.
Conclusion: 5 stars for the game play as usual for a DOA fighting game. Minus 2 stars for the modern business models and no player match at launch which I believe is an industry first, a new low so to speak.

Found out I couldn't get my pre-order bonus because Best Buy doesn't have it even though I've seen it.
As for the game itself, gameplay is fun but the way to unlock costumes is terrible. Earning money as well 'pattern parts', pattern parts random distribute to fighters then their costume, you cannot pick out. Once it's unlock, then you use money to purchase unlocked costumes....

Glad you got it solved. This is all just western Koei Temco marketing bs to have preorder bonus given out by retailers. In eastern markets, this code is on a card in the game box. No preorder is required. No one will have these issues if we do like what other countries do.
