I spent a good amount of time reveiwing all of my options for an 11.2 channel receiver that had the 7.2.4 option for Atmos. While there are many great receivers that can fit those needs, I am very happy with the Denon. Prior to this we had a Pioneer Elite, and needless to say, they both function equally well in my opinion. I’ve never owned a Denon before, and so far this unit has made me quite happy. The only downside I’ve found is that it happens to run very hot compared to other brands I’ve had over the years. As far as I could tell from some quick googling, this is quite normal for the Denon In Command units. As a precaution, I still ordered up some cooling fans just to ensure I get many years of enjoyment. Anyway, I would recommend this product, and at $2,200, it’s one of the better deals you’ll find for a good 11.2 channel as most are 3k or more.

Like everything “Bose”, the package is small in comparison to the competition, but they always dress to impress. I was looking for something small for one of our non-movie-theater style rooms. I just wanted a sound bar, no additional subwoofer or surround speakers, so I thought I would give the Solo 5 a shot (as I’ve had a few other Bose sound bars over the years, and they all delivered beautifully).
The Solo 5 offers a nice clear and crisp presentation. If you are a bass enthusiast, then this is certainly not the sound bar for you. If you seek a well balanced sound bar with just the right amount of punch, then I would highly recommend giving this little guy a try. It has a center channel speaker, right and left front channel speakers, and one more on each end that bounce sound off the walls. It’s actually quite impressive for its size and not having an additional sub or surround speakers. In fact, the biggest selling point for me (aside from the sound), was that it is about 1/2 the size of its competitors.
To sum it up, if your looking for something extra aside from just the tv speakers, but you don’t want a large hunk of a sound bar, then this is your best bet for the money. Bose always delivers, and I would recommend this product to everyone.
