High capacity storage in a tiny package

This external drive is remarkably tiny for the 2 TB it holds!
It will easily fit into even the smallest pocket of a laptop sleeve (or bag). I reformatted the drive from the exFAT it comes with to NTFS, and then performed some speed tests. I connected it to a fast USB-C port on my computer and obtained a speed of ~1000MB/s, consistent with what most others have found. This is fine for my needs. I use this drive to make backups of my laptop. I highly recommend this drive!

My new ASUS Strix G16 16 inch laptop is thick and has a large 280 Watt power brick. This backpack can easily handle both, and has plenty of space to spare! My laptop fits comfortably in the main storage area. There is even space to insert a little extra padding on the bottom and sides when making longer trips. There are three nested pockets on the front. My large 280 Watt power brick fit easily in the smallest pocket. I put its power cord in the second largest pocket, with plenty of room for my gaming mouse and my gaming pad. The largest pocket I use for papers, and a little extra padding. I am connecting to it with a Samsung Tab S6 Lite, using the Smart View utility in the tablet. I am watching movies from VUDU, and YouTube videos with no problem. I did have to enable HDCP in the adapter to watch the copyrighted material from VUDU - and this is done using the Microsoft Display Adapter app, that only runs on Windows.

It's been many years since i've purchased a computer. I really like the size and weight of this one. The only thing I don't like is that I can't install Chrome. It seems they only want me to use Bing. The other thing is that there is no Excel without paying extra and I don't want to pay for just one spreadsheet. I have Office on a cd but there is no cd slot. Other than that, I really like it so far, much faster than my old computer and has touch screen. It was one of the least expensive ones that I could find. It's worth the price I paid. I'll just have to find someone who knows what they are doing to help me around the issues of getting Chrome and using the one spreadsheet I need. Overall good purchase.

I was not happy with the operating system not allowing me to use after market applications I haved for years, especially after the salesman said I could when I questioned him about it. Other than that it works fine

You would be able to install those applications after disabling S mode, which comes enabled on this laptop. Disabling S mode can be done in just a couple of minutes. However, once done it can not be reenabled.

It has a polarized two-prong plug, ie, one prong is larger than the other. It can be plugged in only one way. The outlet on the wall must permit the use of such a plug.

Does the refurbished t7 work as good as a new t7?
I purchased two of these refurbished drives. After properly initializing and formatting one of them, it appears to work as well as a new drive. This was not true for the second drive - I struggled to get it to work, and then found that 7% of the sectors of the drive were bad. It now appears to be working, but I less confidence in it.

Does the external SSD come with a USB-C cable? I’m not sure if I have one.
It should come with two cables. One a usb c to c, and the second a usb c to a. Mine came in a little box "hidden" behind the drive. However, you need to test them with a drive known to be good. I found 3 of the 4 cables I received with two of these drives to be defective.

I just purchased this external ssd and tried to use it for the first time. It will not show up on my computer anywhere, except on the "eject" tray. Why can't my new laptop see or open it the file location?
I suspect that it needs to be initialized and then formatted - operations you can do from disk management. However, it could also be a bad cable. I had a similar experience with this refurbished drive.

Can I add storage?
Yes you can. However to do so requires cloning the existing drive to one that is larger, and then removing the existing drive and replacing it with the larger drive.

What operating system is installed ?
My version of this laptop came loaded with Windows 11 Home. I see that there is another version of this laptop that comes loaded with Windows 11 S, that imposes some restrictions making it more secure.

Is the 8GB RAM memory expandable?
Yes it is. The 8GB of RAM it come with is soldered in, but there is an empty SO-DIMM slot where you can add additional RAM.
