I guess I'm the outlier that you always see in reviews, because I bought the soundbar, along with the sub and new updated rear speakers - and found the whole experience to be a huge disappointment. This seems to be a case of style over substance; it has all the connections, streaming, wifi, etc. you could want, and I got it primarily because it has more than one HDMI input - but the sound itself (you know, the most important thing with a speaker) is just plain average. I tried everything, from virtual height engine to spatial to manually upping the sound levels on each speaker to using the different sound modes. The sound from the rear speakers is practically non-existent, save for a few motorcycles or crashes here and there in movies. The center speaker overpowers everything else on the bar itself, even when turned down, and the sound from the tiny speaker is very tinny and hollow. And yes the voice assistant was off. Atmos effects are next to nothing but I expected that going in (you can't bounce sound off the ceiling, period). The sub is fine although nothing special. I owned the previous Sony soundbar (Z9F) and frankly this one doesn't sound that much better, and certainly not for the price.
This is the 2nd soundbar in a row I've returned (B&W Panorama 3 being the other anemic performer) so it's probably just me. I just wish I hadn't listened to all the hype because for the price they're charging, this product is simply not worth it.

Not worthy of the name - or the price

It's being pitched as an all-in-one solution for those that don't want a separate subwoofer, complexity, etc. That would be fine except for one thing: it doesn't sound any better than a Vizio or similar that's half the price. The connections are limited (just one HDMI), the speakers inside are just too small, and it doesn't support DTS and so on but that seems to be the direction all soundbars are headed. I could live with that if it sounded amazing. It just doesn't.

Big improvements

The new MacBook Pro is much better than the previous model I had. Most noticeable is the quality of the speakers, which are on either side of the keyboard. It's amazing the quality of the sound they can get out of these tiny things. I don't find the processor any faster than my previous 13" model from 2014. The Touchbar works as designed but I find the whole thing to be a gimmick; it's more work to look at it and figure out what to press than to just use the touchpad and finger like I've always done. The 16" screen is a huge benefit for my eyes. Using Touch ID to signon is a HUGE improvement over having to enter a password every time. All in all, a very nice upgrade.

I like the slim design; it works relatively fast; holds a lot. I had trouble with a previous drive when I couldn't unload it properly from my Macbook, so make sure the drive is disconnected completely before unplugging it (not sure if that was the computer or the drive that had the problem).

I enjoyed this movie in the theater and then again at home, maybe even more so because the UHD picture quality is very good. Although there's nothing groundbreaking here (slight spoiler ahead), they did try to add a slightly new twist by having the first half of the movie take place on the island and then the second half of the movie somewhere else. I found some of the secondary characters highly annoying. Sound quality is amazing using my Sony ZF9 soundbar with rear speakers.

First let me start by saying I had high hopes for this 12.9" ipad Pro and really wanted it to replace my main computer and my current iPad. Wondering if we finally made it to Apple's vision of the "future of computing", I regret to say no, no we have not. Truth be told it's a beautiful piece of hardware that's blazing fast but still severely constrained by the limitations of iOS. After you shell out $999, plus $199 for the Smart Keyboard, and $129 for the Apple Pencil its going to leave you wanting more. Save your money and your time, because the lasting impression it will leave you thinking, as you box it back up to return it to BestBuy, is it's still just an iPad...

I have been an audiophile for years. Have a system built around Magnepans. It begins to be a money pit. Especially with technology changing so rapidly. I bought the Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar for a high end/simple setup in another theater room and it was the cheapest way to replicate being in a movie theater. Of course, I output to a REL subwoofer. But so nice to have all of this in 1 soundbar and no preamp/amp/receiver/7 speakers and a sub to deal with. Don't get me wrong, each end user has their preferences for Movies/TV/Music/Sports, but life is short. Hooking up the Sennheiser was easy. Calibration is amazing. And it took very little effort from me. The Ambeo even tells you to get out of the way during calibration. I would recommend getting a high end Blu-ray player that decodes Dolby Vision and Atmos. I bought 3 OLED TV's in 2018 and please don't get too in the weeds with the eARC vs. ARC debate. It sounds great on just ARC. Then on a high-end Blu-ray player that splits the audio/video, you will get amazing picture and sound on another source anyway. But all in all, above my expectations. Well done Sennheiser!

Thanks for your review. Do you REALLY get a surround effect though? I once owned the Martin Logan soundbar and while the speakers themselves were excellent, it was all front-based and I really missed the separate rear sounds.

I know I know Bose is not high end audio but it is 5.1 with a sub. Even without adding a sub to the Ambeo (which I will) the Ambeo BLEW away the Bose. My wife was even shocked. Its the best sound bar I have owned. I have had the Martin Logan Vision and Bowers and Wilkins Panorama 2 soundbars. I can't say its a 100% surround as its hard to hear anything coming from the back or from up top but from the sides it does great (I don't have a back wall its open). Best soundbar period!

4 out of 5Issue with correct HDMI Inputs

Having an issue where when I Power on TV first thing in the morning I get picture but no sound. I have to Press the HDMI 1 on the sound bar remote to get sound because the INPUT starts on with TV Input with sound bar. Have SYNC Enabled with both sound bar and Sony 2019 A9G tv. One of the confusing things I noticed is Earc HDMI cable is connected from sound bar to tv and my other 2 devices ( Tivo & PS3 ) connected to sound bar using HDMI 1 & 2 ports from back of sound bar which is correct. The question I have is does it matter which tv HDMI 3 to use. Shows player 1 player 2 and then HDMI eARC? Even though I choose say Player 1 for Tivo the next day the tv chooses HDMI eARC and like I said in the beginning there is no sound because the sound bar input is choosing TV with picture and no sound. Now I watched a YouTube video that said it's the supplied HDMI cable that came with sound bar and do not use it. For my other 2 HDMI inputs from back of sound bar I am using better High Quality HDMI cables.

I think it has something to do with the CEC settings on your TV. I turned CED on and mine started to do the same thing, every time i turned it on it went back to HDMI2 or whatever. I'm not an expert on any of this CEC stuff but I do know when I turned that off it stopped doing it. (I know, it defeats the purpose of whatever that CEC is supposed to do if you have to turn it off, but that's the only thing that worked for me).

Sounds good, but connection between sound bar and the subwoofer constantly cuts out. Same with the matched surround speakers. Followed all Sony troubleshooting, but doesn’t help. Have read up online and many people have this same issue.

Are you absolutely positive that 1. your wifi (router etc.) is nowhere near the speakers; 2. firmware is up-to-date; 3. HDMI cables are new enough; 4. externals are connected to the bar itself, not the TV and then back to the bar; 5. TV/Apple TV/PS/whatever settings for CEC etc. are set correctly? I have my own issues with this bar but other than occasional dropouts there's no problem with the connection itself.

Has potential. Interface is horrendously buggy. The remote takes several attempts before it’ll recognize a function. The Elevate looks amazing, but the system is just too frustrating to make it worth dealing with. Vizio products have always been innovative, but they just can’t get the basics and simplicity down. FYI I updated to the latest firmware. I’m a professional installer and have a lot of experience with audio/video equipment, and this is just trash.

(1) The noise cancellation is great when playing music/video but when only using the noise cancellation I can still hear people speaking, it's kinda annoying. (2) The low-end frequencies are great. I do music production in these using FL Studio and Pro Tool and they perform great, better than my Beats Studio 2. (3) The Talk-to-Chat feature is annoying. I usually turn it off b/c the headphones will pick up on me singing or laughing at a movie and switch me to hearing everything around me. (4) The touch volume is annoying it doesn't allow you to slide your finger from low to max volume, instead you have to do a series of quick swipes to change the volume.

I hate the swiping necessary to control the volume on my older model. If I had to do it again, I think I would buy another brand. Changing the volume is something you do frequently enough to make this a deal-breaker for me.

I purchased this sound bar along with the X900H 75" TV. I have not been able to find a way to adjust basic sound settings like bass and treble. It seems the sound bar menus themselves do not even have the option. So, I tried using the few presets (cinema, music, game, etc.) on the sound bar remote and those do not work either. The display on the sound bar shows "not use" when I press any of the sound preset buttons. Also, in Sony's infinite wisdom, all the options on the TV for advanced sound settings within the “sound customization” menu are greyed out because I am not using the TV speakers. Long story short is that I have a sound bar that Sony is basically refusing to allow me to adjust the sound at all, except for volume. Sony needs to go back and do a software update for the TV so people can use the advanced sound settings. I paid way too much for essential controls to be unavailable. The sounds is honestly not clear enough, I was simply looking for a way to increase the treble. Unfortunately, it's too late for me to return this. I may just disconnect it and use the TV speakers; at least I could gain control of the sound.

I used to own this soundbar but don't have it anymore so I can't remember exactly, but if you go into settings and advanced I think it is, you'll see a whole menu of options for audio, video, network, updates, stuff like that. One of the settings under 'audio' turns OFF all the modes like cinema/sports/music whatever. I believe it's the "Dolby optimizer" option. Whatever you have it set on, try the opposite setting and they will all come back. Mine sounded better with Dolby optimizer off I believe, but that is what makes it say "not use" on the bar and greys out the other options. Hope this helps.

The sound and immersion are great - huge step up from any soundbar. Be prepared for frequent trips into the setup menu to re-calibrate the wireless connection between the speakers. It seems like I need to do this every time I use it, but once done it typically gets me 3-4 hours of uninterrupted movie watching/music listening before it needs to be done again. Seems that Sony is aware of these issues, since they included an insert that is the first thing you see when you unbox (see attached photo).

I almost returned these because of all of the dropout issues but after hours i discovered the fix! I went into my TV sound settings and turned off eARC mode. This instantly fixed the audio issue! I have the samsung q90a. I hope this helps others as frustrated as i was!
