I have to admit I found this movie to be quite overrated based on all the good reviews I heard but it’s still an entertaining romp especially if you enjoy Michael Bays filmmaking style which is on full display here. being a recent film, of course the AV quality is top-notch and will rattle your windows sufficiently.

Though it may not be quite as bad as you’ve heard, this is easily one of the weaker Marvel efforts. Ham fisted and overly serious, at least the AV quality is top-notch. If you can still find the steelbook packaging, it’s pretty cool too.

Ramon Menendez's inspirational biopic of math teacher Jaime Escalante, Stand and Deliver comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Mono. There are no subtitles, but the soundtrack is closed-captioned. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence. This is a by-the-numbers release from Warner Bros. for a film that deserves better on home video. The disc is technically weak, and offers nothing in the extras department.

Such a good movie but I’m disappointed that in 2022 it’s still only available in full frame DVD format. I finally caved and bought it since it’s reasonably priced but I would gladly buy it again if and when it ever comes out on Blu-ray in its proper aspect ratio.

Shlocky eco-horror fun

If you are a fan of shlocky eco-horror movies, this one suddenly belongs in your collection. The AV quality won’t ever get much better than it is here, which is to say it’s a little rough around the edges but it is a 47 year old TV movie after all. Not sure that it’s necessary to include both a full frame and a wide screen presentation, considering the movie was intended to be shown full frame but I guess one should never complain about having options.
