The wire is a larger gauge to make up for the length, data transfer speed....
Since it was longer I routed it to another spot and freed up some desk space...

We first bought this and then returned it because we thought that we could put the Spectrum app on our other TV... When we were unable to put the app directly on our older Samsung TV, we bought this again... We were easily able to put the Spectrum app, the NFL Network App, and others onto the Apple device and then play on our TV through an HDMI cable.... Its pricey though, like all Apple devices...
