New to 4K. This collection features the wonder of the entire Star Wars saga, capturing the moments from a young Anakin Skywalker's descent into the dark side to the rise of the Resistance and their struggle to restore peace in the galaxy. The story that electrified a generation comes to a striking conclusion.

Love both of these. First one is likely my favorite but they both have a different, but enjoyable view. Here's hoping Disney lets then make a third one, and without too much change to tone down.

Amazing classic 80’s movie finally in 4K

This is one of my favorite class 80’s movies.
Finally in 4K.
Included is both the Regular AND Extended movies and both in 4K which is great.
The digital code is 4K which is great. However NONE of the streaming services have it in 4K so you can only stream in 1080P. Disappointing. Also the digital code only redeems for Regular version, even though Extended is also on streaming you don’t get it with the redemption.

Kristen Stewart stars in this electrifying sci-fi thriller as a mechanical engineer who must try to save her fellow crew members following the destruction of their mining rig seven miles beneath the ocean surface. Five thousand miles from land, their only hope for survival is to walk across the ocean floor to an abandoned vessel. But their already dangerous journey becomes even more treacherous as a mysterious new threat appears at the ocean's depths!

It’s an okay movie. Didn’t have high expectations but it was okay. Sets were great. But acting and flow of movie were just flat and slow. Half the movie is shot in the bottom of the ocean so it’s obviously pitch black and they have near no lighting so it’s DARK and hard to see, even on a calibrated OLED in a light controlled room. I saw it in a Dolby calibrated theater as well and it wasn’t any easier to watch. Price is low and it’s nice to have something to watch during this time when there is nothing new coming out.

I'd rather give it 3.5 but you can't give half stars and it's not "really" four stars.
First of the set isn't example stable in terms of software.
Our household is and has been a power user of multiple Roku's going back years. Recent years have show them to lock up and reset themselves more often then before. Also the remotes get confused. You clearly push right in a one app and it quits the app and launches other. And no it's not mistakenly pressing the wrong button.
With the TV these lock ups and TV reboots happen even more than the boxes themselves. We have Roku running in the house 6-12 hrs a day, often in an out all the time of various apps. Happens at least 1-2 times a week.
Part of that is down to Roku being really the whole TV OS it would seem. Most other TV's have their own OS and then different company apps on top. Typically ROKU is a standalone box that you use with a TV with it's own OS and then you use company apps on the Roku. Here when they built in the Roku into the TV the Roku itself becomes not only the streaming box but also the TV OS with all the settings. It's a little odd to have in one place but it works out.
Picture quality is ok I guess. Good for the price. I get this is a value yet. But the 15 year old plasma it replaced looked WAY better. I know the plasma was more expensive, but then it's almost two decades old. I guess I figured that the tech would have progressed more.
Dolby Vision HDR look's pretty good. Non Dolby HDR material is ok.
Off access viewing is okay. Again I'm complaining to a plasma but again the plasma is 15 yr old. I expect more in all that time.
If you only have $300-500 to spend it's a decent set. Better than other brands for the same money. I wish it didn't lock up and reset so often. But we use more than most I guess so I don't know.
If I had $500-1000 I would buy a cheapest OLED I could find, even if it was a prior year and go back to using a separate Roku box for sure next time, hands down, no questions.
I still love Roku in general and swear by it over Apple TV, FireTV, etc; but I wouldn't get Roku built into a TV again. Too unstable, right now.
Additionally I think OLED is still the way to go instead of LED. I understand they both have their up and down sides. I also understand that smaller OLED models are just hitting the market this year and they're 2-3x the price of LED.
If you don't have the funds, don't watch much, or picture quality isn't of the "highest" priority this is a decent choice and a better value than others. If black level, contact, 4K, HDR are important to you pay 2x the price and get a prior year OLED.
Or wait one more year since while LG (and Sony, panels made by LG) are currently the only OLED game in town; Vizio and several other companies will have OLED this year and be cheaper than LG.
Honestly for me I only got this set because my Plasma died. If it haven't I was planning to by the new small LG (or Vizio) OLED, at a higher price vs this set, once they ship and end of the year.

In Awe at the Picture Quality and Value
By SoxFan85
This TV exceeds my expectations, which I admit were pretty high going in. When all my new TV research started pointing to TCL's new mini-LED models as a way for me to get picture quality that rivals the best in the industry, but at 1/2 to 2/3 the cost, my hopes were way up. The TV was delivered last Friday and I feel like I won the lotto!
My first impression on unboxing was that the TV is very well built. The metal screen frame looks and feels high-end. The fit and finish is great - there is nothing cheap about this TV and it is clear no corners were cut. The included stand comes in two pieces and it looks like it would easily screw to the back panel of the TV, but I wall mounted mine so I cannot speak to how easy or difficult it would have been to install the included stand.
Setting up the TV was easy - just follow the onscreen steps to connect to wifi and pick the icons for whatever is hooked up, which in my case is satellite, a blu-ray player, and PS4. I already have a Roku account and linking the account took only a few clicks on my phone. All of my Roku apps automatically loaded, which was a huge time saver, but I found out later that you will need to login individually to these apps (like Youtube, Prime, netflix, or Hulu) the first time you use them.
The picture quality is just awesome. I tested the TV out over the weekend with a mix of live sports (mostly football) and streaming shows and movies from Prime and Netflix. The picture is bright and edges are crisp and clean. I can see details that just were not visible on my old Samsung - like the details of woven fabrics or individual leaves on a landscape of trees. But above all, I just can't get over the insanely vivid and lifelike color.
I highly recommend this TV. It has an elegant, high end look and a truly sunning picture, and I saved literally thousands from what the other tops brands would charge for similar performance - thank you QLED, thank you mini-LED's, thank you TCL!

Doesn't "Rival" but does come pretty close.
November 13, 2019
I wouldn't say it "rivals the best in the industry". It's a very good set, but it doesn't rival the best, it comes pretty darn close through and yes for a fraction of the cost. But if you want the best you'll have to fork over a few thousand more. If you're ok with the limits of the set, which aren't many, this is a good choice for the money.
I'm likely getting this same set myself once it goes on sale. I can afford the better sets but the high end marketing is changing quickly so why spend twice as much for something that will more out of date in 3-5 years when I can spend half now on something fairly close and have the other half left to get the next best thing in 3-5 years. If you want cutting edge TV the days of keeping your set for 5-10 years are LONG gone.
