Do these speakers require a back box for installation in a ceiling?
Yes, I would recommend it. Just like any speaker, you will lose sound once in the wall. Sonance sells covers for them. I ordered mine through Magnolia Design center. It will make a huge difference. Also if you have some spare pieces of insulation, I will place those around the speaker. These speakers made a huge difference in my Dolby Atmos setup.
