Like Older Model Better
on March 17, 2019

This unit works but the support ring the phone rests on is much smaller that the previous model which provides less support for for devices being charged. This matters now with the new Power Share feature of the S10 phones requiring you to stack them on top of each other. I prefer the larger diameter support ring of the older model. I also prefer the charging LED on the older model. It is much easier to see the charger indicator on the previous model. This model has a small LED which is hard to see if a device is on it and you will not be able to see it if Power Share charging. It is going back and getting two previous Fast Charge models for less money.

Unfortunately the seasonal edition is not available for very long! I have two boxes I enjoy them sparingly until they become available again. I really enjoy all the flavors that come with this variety pack and look forwarding to purchasing again.

Where is the Funny??

I bought this movie based on critic reviews and after watching 20 minutes (straining to watch) I turned to my wife and asked is anything fun so far. NO NO and NO. She couldn't finish the movie and I watched the rest hoping it was going to pick up but it did not. I learned more about the movie and enjoyed the extras more than the movie itself. The jokes were lam, the acting (hum if you can call it that) was lack luster, I wasn't invested in any character, and wish I never paid for this movie. As usual beware the hype and rent or wait for it to come to Netflex.

To Big and Hard to Install
on January 14, 2019
Posted by: CFH2018
from Providence, RI
Ours is the HD Clear which is a wet installation. You remove the cover on the adhesive side and use the supplied wipe to activate the adhesive. This was not difficult but with the bottom cutout lined up with the top of the button button the top portion would cover over the phone's ear speaker and the lens. I removed the film a few times to check installation but no matter what I did the top kept going over the ear speaker and top lens. Due to being a wet installation the adhesive became a mess and I had to give up and could not use this product. I would not recommend this and have decided to use the curved glass product for the S7 Edge.

PS3 Not Fully Supported Now!!! And Cant Cancel, Bu
on November 19, 2018
Posted by: CFH2018
from Providence, RI
Buyer beware. In the US once our pay for this you cannot cancel even though the PS3 is not fully support as it was previously. You can currently play PS3 titles online without a PS+ account and there are little to no games in the monthly free section for PS3's. I get that with the PS4 being out be we decided to not update to current gen PS4. I purchased due to Black Friday pricing and once I found out I paid for nothing and tried to get a refund within hours I was told once you pay for it in the US you cannot return it!!!! On the website it states you have 14 days but the link brings you to the UK Playstation site and they can return for a refund there. In my state you have three days to cancel a contract and if you do this Sony will cancel and ban you account forever. Really, well there's $40 wasted.

Not System in the Specifications
on August 24, 2018
Posted by: CFH2018
from Providence, RI
Verified Purchase:Yes
First the memory is not the 2666 MHz it is the 2400 MHz memory. The screen is not Nvidia G-Sync enabled. Please be aware the Alienware auto update may install the wrong drivers making the system internet non-functional. Killer has one unified driver that works for both the wireless and wired devices in this system. Auto installation attempts to install two separate drivers which work against each other making the internet less than functional. The video drivers also can get messed up making text difficult to see. Please be aware of this when starting the new system. The system is big and solid. Others in this class did not feel as solid and many had a flimsy feel and deflection of the keypad and system itself. The touch pad was responsive and the feel of the keypad is excellent. I like the back lit keys but I do not see the reason for zone colors. If it is not RGB back lighting why bother. Check all the LED's colors under the keypad keys. I had several that had 2 of the three LEDs stuck on a florescent green color. Though it didn't show through to the key top it did bleed out the bottom of the keys and was distracting. You will need room for this system but if you watch the auto updates and check things carefully you should be fine. This system will NOT FIT in a standard 17" computer case. Its design is bigger than any 17" case I could find and even the Alienware cases for a 17.3" system do not confirm this system will fit. I am struggling with what case to get for it. Any input on this would be appreciated. The Best Buy price is better than configuring in on Dell? Dell states the system components are not the same? Slower Memory, not a G Sync Screen, they didn't go into any other details but G Sync is another $50, faster memory another $100+. With coupons and being on sale the savings was more than $400 and you could pick it up at Best Buy. The warranty is lack luster and I would recommend getting better than the 1 year included with this system. When I called in for assistance the Dell technician was reluctant to help because the warranty was the basic one! I am not sure if I would recommend this system but I do believe it has be better build than similar systems and decided on it for that reason alone. Good luck there are so many options out there it can be over whelming. I am only giving this 3 stars due to the auto update issues and hours of trouble shooting I had to do to get the system to work correctly. This should not occur!

Great Keyboard, Software a Bit Flaky, Price High
on August 3, 2018
Posted by: CFH2018
from Providence, RI
Verified Purchase:Yes
The keyboard lights up great, the fonts are clear and the keys include the sub items on them as well! I have been using a Logitech K800 keyboard for years and love the feel of it so this keyboard did have some getting used but I love it now. The keys all feel comfortable and just right amount of force and feedback.
The use of the software is a bit confusing though and I had to check YouTube for guidance on how to use it. I also have a Logitech Gaming mouse and headset which also use the software. Under the mouse I can select the game .exe file and make changes to the files but under the keyboard all I can do is select the game .exe file. See Pic.
I love how bright the keyboard is and how I can control each key individually. I am only giving the four stars because the software can be flaky. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Also the cable could be a bit longer and braided. The keyboard does sit really high compared to the K800 keyboard but I have place my 3M Gel wrist pad right on the bottom of the keyboard and raised the back up about an inch to get it to an angle that is comfortable for me.
Overall I would recommend this keyboard and love gaming on it. With the lights down I can see all the keys clearly. I bought this on sale and do believe the regular price is too high. Thanks

Not the best for digital artist
By JonquelN from New York, NY, USA
Product Has Serious Overheating issue! First let me say that I've done all the research, I watched youtube, read magazine reviews and spoke with every Best Buy Agent I could. I'm a digital artist, I use mainly Adobe products and I was in the market to find 2 in 1 that work support my art on the go. Of course I thought about getting a Mac because it's industry standard (I now understand why), but I really wanted a 2-1 option. I was looking for something I could draw on and use full programs (as tablets only use apps). So I went to Best Buy and spoke with an agent, told them what I was looking for and they recommended the Surface Book 2. I went home did some research and thought it was a good choice. I even went to 3 different Best Buys in my city and every agent I spoke to assured me that this machine could handle photoshop and was worth the price tag. So I went for it and purchased this very Expensive "Premium" machine.
It's been 1 MONTH and it's unusable for me. This computer gets so overheated I can't even draw on it. In the short time I've had it ,I've only been able to complete 1 illustration and I had to wear a scarf over my hand to it. 5 minutes into running Photoshop the tablet starts to get hot, then the base gets hot.
This is honestly the last problem I would expect to have from a machine that is nearly (or more than) $3k. I wanted to do digital art tutorials and videos with this computer, but I can't even do simple illustrations in Adobe without this problem. I'm also an influencer on social media and I can not in good confidence recommend this computer to my audience. I'm so disappointed with the performance of this machine and if it wasn't for best buy's 15 day return policy, it would have been back in store on day 19! I hope this review helps another digital artist before they put alot of money down on this machine.

Returning
By Thresher
Nice laptop, fast as all get out. However mine appears to be defective.
I am getting a lot of light bleed along the bottom. Not the normal IPS bloom, but actual hotspots that are clearly visible on a darkened screen.
Another note, if you intend to add another SSD to this, think it over carefully. This requires a heatshield that you can only get from Dell. The manual makes this very clear and after opening and trying to install another SSD, short of jerry rigging, it's definitely true. However, Dell's support has no idea what the part number is or how to order it. Might be because it's brand new, but it's ridiculous that the shield isn't already in the unit.
When looking at the attached picture, the glow in the upper left and right isn't really noticeable. But those bleed through spots on the bottom are very distracting.

Beautiful laptop...marred by abysmal support.
By Namdnas from TN
I've never owned a gaming laptop. This is my first one. I've always been a PC and Console gamer. Due to having a kid and multiple animals, I have all of my gaming stuff in my man-cave (queue stereotypes here, lol). It's a small-medium sized room and has my LG C8 OLED TV, Samsung Q90R soundbar, PS4 Pro, Gaming PC, Ultrawide monitor, etc. So, after a while, it can start feeling a little cramped (and hot!). I've always wanted a laptop, but never acted on it. I seen this Alienware as an opportunity to free myself from the game room and if I want to play something, just set it up on the kitchen table or bedroom and still be with the family, vs. being isolated.
I've owned two Alienware Desktops in the past. My first one (back around 2005-ish) was an Aurora-style desktop PC (I don't remember the exact model name) and the other was an Area-51 small form factor PC that I'd gotten around 2014. I had issues out of both. The Area-51 just died on me out of the blue after just a few years, so I have my current desktop now that is custom-built by another company and I've had zero issues with it and I love it. I vowed after my Area-51 that I would never own another Alienware product again.
So, here I sit, with this new Alienware M17 R2 system...full of regrets. I'm going to go ahead and start this review off by saying - I will absolutely NEVER own another Alienware PC again in my life. Even if it were free. This review is going to be different than most because, not only am I reviewing the PC, I'm also reviewing Alienware and my experiences with them during the short time I've owned this system. I mean, after all, when you buy Alienware, you're buying a "premium" brand, proprietary configuration and their (abysmal) support that goes along with it.
Let's talk about the laptop itself. The hardware will be the only positive thing this review has going for it. It has a 9th gen Intel i7 processor, 512GB M.2 Solid State drive, 16 GB RAM and an RTX 2070 video card with 8GB RAM. I do want to add that the RAM is soldered to the motherboard and is NOT up-gradable. The screen is also super nice - 17" with 144hz refresh rate and great viewing angles. It also has a built in web-cam and Tobii eye tracking. The keyboard is without a doubt one of the best I've ever felt on a laptop and I love the full RGB spectrum it has. Around back, the frame has lighting, as well as the alien head. On the inside, the power button is also in the shape of an alien head (nice touch!) and will change colors as you use it, indicating the battery level. Setup after the initial power-on was a breeze and I was able to use voice guided setup about 90% through the process. Once I got to Windows, I immediately started the Windows updates. Also note: there is an "Alienware Updater" program that you will need to run as well. This will take care of all the proprietary Alienware updates, such as their specialized drivers, Command Center and other software and...most importantly, BIOS. Everything ran and updated without a hitch.
Now...I got everything else installed that I use, like Steam, Blizzard Launcher, Epic games store, etc. After this (no games installed at this point), I have about 400GB space left. On the math part, depending on what you are playing, that's roughly 4-6 games. Fornite takes 60GB, Destiny 2 takes 81GB, WoW takes 70GB. Those 3 games alone take half of the remaining space. So, before I do anything else, I happily bounce out to my local Best Buy and purchase a $215 Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB M.2 SSD, after seeing on YouTube, etc, that others have used it and it was the highest recommended M.2 SSD. And here is where all the problems began...
I opened up the back panel of the laptop (which was a pain to wedge off after unscrewing) and there sat the empty M.2 slot, beside the primary 512GB drive that came with the system. Easy enough. Plug it in, meticulously attached the back panel and screws and flip it over to turn it on. Long story short, after removing and re-seating the drive about 3-4 times and more software updates to the system (BIOS being one of them), I finally got Disk Manager to detect it. Got it formatted as a single volume drive will full space allocation and named it "Game". But wait! Now I'm getting messages in the Windows notification center asking me what I want to do with the "removable drive". It's not removable! It's an internal M.2 HDD. So now, AutoPlay is constantly notifying me and asking me this. It's annoying and...why is it doing this? Even right clicking the drive from "This PC" shows an AutoPlay option, which should not be happening.
Thus, starts my ordeal between 10/2/2019-10/3/2019 with Alienware that gives me a 2-day (and ongoing) headache - for real. I call Alienware and after some questions, such as what kind of drive I'm using and where I got it, they refused to help me because the system didn't come pre-configured with this drive and where I bought it 3rd Party (not from them), they don't support assisting with this. So, I call Samsung. They advise me to go into the BIOS and change the SATA support from RAID (which there are no Raid profiles set, since it was just a single SSD to begin with) to AHCI. I do that and reboot - Blue Screen saying "un-accessable boot device" (or something to that effect). So, I have to change it back over to RAID to get to get it to boot properly to Windows. Samsung then advises to just do a fresh install of windows and map the drives to AHCI at that time to see if that fixes it. Issue with that is, I lose all of the proprietary Alienware software, C: Drive partitioning, etc, which I don't want to do... So, I call Microsoft. They say that it's an issue with how Alienware has mapped the ports/drives and I will need to call them to get my drives remapped. I told the Microsoft agent that won't happen - the refuse to help me. Then he was like, well, it's their proprietary configuration causing it, right? Yep...
So, since then, I've called Alienware 2 more times and get the same response - even an email from them a few days later with the same response. The only thing different that I get is that "Samsung Drives are not compatible with Alienware systems", which completely baffled me. They said they don't know why their customers always get Samsung, then have problems when literally any other brand will work. Anyway, they refuse to do anything for me. So...I'm like...let me call Alienware sales and just order **THEIR** 1TB SSD and I'll just return this Samsung for a refund - that way, they HAVE to help me if I have issues. After telling the sales agent what I wanted, he had me on hold for 10 minutes. He came back and said he can get me a 1TB M.2 SSD for $399.99. I about choked and told him he was crazy! I'm NOT paying $400 for an M.2 SSD when I can get any brand I want elsewhere for $200 or less. I told him I got a Samsung Evo Plus 1TB for $215. He starts arguing with me about "well, our drive will work". NO...ANY drive should work - you're just forcing me to buy yours for double the retail value, I thought to myself. Anyway, after we hung up, he calls me back 10 minutes later and told me he could sell me a Samsung Evo for $169.99. I told him that's the same drive I'm having issues with and they refuse to help me - and tells me it's incompatible. He then says "well, if they told you that, then I would take their word for it"...then goes on to say..."you know this is a GAMING PC, right? Samsung is for professionals, not gaming, so that's why it won't work". I immediately call bull on this one and proceeded then to ask him why he called me to sell me an incompatible drive and that he just contradicted himself. He disconnected the call.
So, here I sit, writing this review. Fuming over everything. I ordered an ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB drive from Amazon, which will be here today (yes, Sunday), as the only drives my local Best Buy has are the "professional...not gaming" Samsung Evo drives (*rolls eyes*). My gaming desktop has Samsung Evo SSD's!!! Aaaaargggghhhh. I'm hoping the ADATA works great. If not, I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I'm honestly at my wits end with all this drama and haven't even gotten to test this system to the limits, like I would like to have done. So many games I wanted to try - but so little space. I'm just....over it at this point.
So, this review is breaking down into two scores. I'm giving an overall/final score of 2 stars:
4 stars for the PC. Performance is great. Using V-Sync, I hit my max 144FPS refresh rate on most of the games I've tried. Around 170+FPS without V-Sync. For Destiny 2 at High, I get an average of 70-75 FPS and Fortnite gets about 90-ish FPS. Temps are stable and runs pretty cool. Fans can get a bit noisy from time to time when they ramp up, but that's to be expected. Build quality is pretty high but the rear panel is a pain to remove. Also, the Lunar Light color came out-of-the box with some type of scuffs or stains on it, so this specific color/finish WILL get dirty very easily and shows every spec of dust/debris.
1 star for the Alienware brand and unfortunately the support that comes with it (I would give a zero here, if I could). It is abysmal at best and is why I will NEVER own another Alienware. I mean face it, you're buying the brand and the (*cough*) support. Invest your money in another brand that wants customer satisfaction and doesn't lock everything down behind a "paywall" of over-priced proprietary hardware with no freedom whatsoever, as a consumer.
2 Stars (I probably really should have just given it a 1, but the beauty and performance of the laptop won out). AVOID.

Had Same Issue
November 8, 2019
I had the same exact issue with the M15 R2 and M15 R1!!!!. I purchased these with smaller main SSD drives knowing I would purchase a larger better performing drive and install it in the system. Just like you I bought Samsung Pro and EVO both would not work! Dell / Alienware support state the Samsung drives will not work and it is well known. I contacted Samsung on several occasions and not one of their support staff have ever heard of their Samsung drives having an issue with any Dell or Alienware system. It is possible it has something to do with how Dell configures the drives in the BIOS but to change it you have to reinstall the OS and this still might not work so I just gave up and returned both systems.

Great Hardware, QA and Support Issues.
By Anthony
I ordered this laptop with high expectations, and rightly so with a $1500 price tag after taxes. The hardware is quite good however the support I have received with my unit has been some of the worst I have ever experienced. Yes - I do understand that we are in the midst of a global pandemic and that these businesses supply chains have been massively disrupted, however this should have no bearing on the way I was treated after receiving a lemon.
The Good:
Great Exterior finish
Great Weight
Great Chassis - very rigid and structurally sound
Great styling for such a powerful laptop
Great Specs - 2060 and the new Ryzen 9 4900hs? Sign me up.
Good Keyboard - Backlighting is subpar, and has not been fixed with my production unit.
Good trackpad - Not the best out there however it is very accurate and an average size.
Good Speakers - not studio quality however very acceptable
Comes with very minimal bloatware
The Bad:
Fingerprint sensor is flaky at best - I have to be very precise in the way I use this fingerprint sensor in order to get it to register my finger print at all.
My unit has a defective screen - I constantly get large portions of the screen turning into large white boxes and flickering on / off, additionally the screen has been flickering totally black then turning back repeatedly. Colors are also very off on my unit.
Shipping - through likely no fault of BestBuy or ASUS I received my unit with a VERY large hole in the box and no protective packaging inside.
The Ugly:
Support - Due to my units defective screen I attempted to get my unit exchanged through both ASUS and BestBuy however neither support team has been able to figure this out for me. I've been through 5 Asus Support reps, 5!!! a couple of whom outright stopped talking to me mid support chat, one of whom once connected to the support chat did not respond at all. I have waited for a combine 3 hours on hold (only 2 calls) for BestBuy phone support only to never get through to an agent. The online BestBuy chat agent I spoke to was nice however clearly did not have accurate support information on this device as he told me to exchange it in store, and when I asked him to check if my store has this device realized exchanges could only be done online for this device however failed to mention how to do so (I've only found return information no info on how to exchange the defective unit for a new one). Come on guys, you are both multi-billion dollar companies this level of consumer support is unacceptable. I have been unable to arrange a solution with either of your teams over the span of a week to get this unit replaced with a new one - again I realize we are in the midst of a global pandemic - it should not be this hard to arrange an online replacement of this device.
Please Improve your support services to make an exchange process easier and less painful for the consumer.
To those who may recommend x y or z to fix the screen issue - I work professionally as a computer support technician, trust me, I've tried it. This is a hardware malfunction and not something that can be simply fixed by updating some drivers, windows, or the BIOS to the most recent versions.
Tl;DR: Great buy for the money, Excellent hardware, Great Value. Terrible Customer Support.

Thanks for this information. It seems you are not alone and your experience with Tech Support is important to report as it is a key component in owning a device. Someone commented on the proper Drivers but it seems ASUS's own suggestion is to roll back your drivers and/ or reset the system to new. I have NO tolerance for weak or limited tech support and will pay extra for it. I was so close to getting this system for homeschooling but I am not taking a chance on this system now or ASUS Laptops.

Stay Away From This Mouse
By StayAwayFromThisMouse
Stay away from this mouse. Wish I had read the reviews and seen the videos on Youtube before I bought one. Only after 8 months the left click is not working correctly. It will sometimes double or even more clicks by itself. Try to drag and drop items and it will release it randomly (just caused me many hours of work, was dragging/dropping large group of files, it release by itself and dropped in a folder somewhere, now I have to find the files).

I would be interested to know what model you received. The NordicTrack website is showing the same model number, Commercial X32i (NTL39221), for sale direct on their site. Is there a newer model of this one? Thanks

I was told to add soap/cleaner at the required ratio directly into the soap dispenser instead of adding the cleaner full strength to the soap dispenser. Which way is correct? Diluted doesn't work well. Yes, using the soap nozzle. Thanks
