I'm so glad I had the Geek Squad warranty

The old TV suddenly stopped working, Geek Squad sent someone to check it out, it could not be repaired, so they replaced it with a
new TV. I purchased another 5 year warranty for this new TV.

Beautiful picture

I have had this TV a little less than 2 weeks. I am not a gamer or a tech person. So I can't be really detailed about the review. I mainly buy a TV for the picture quality.
My older TV was Sony XBRr55 850D purchased in 2017. I liked that TV. I thought it had a nice picture. It suddenly stopped working in May 2020. Luckily it was under warranty. I know some people say not to bother buying a warranty because warranties usually run out before the item stops working. Well, in my case, I was so happy it was still under warranty. I would not have been able to purchase another tv that nice and that size. I called Best Buy and they sent a person out to check the old TV.
It couldn't be repaired. They replaced it with this Sony xbr 800H 55".
I was hoping it would be a nice tv. Wow! It is so much brighter than the 850D. The picture quality is amazing. In the spec's it says it has a 4K HDR processor x1 for 4K images, detail and texture. The details are so much clearer on this tv. The color is beautiful. I have it on Custom and seems pretty accurate. Looks like most settings are really good except for Vivid, which seems way too bright and saturated in my opinion.
It's suppose to have Dolby digital and Dolby Atmos, but I have not got anything hooked up to try that yet.
Backlight, it doesn't have local dimming but is direct lit.
I thought the movement was a little jerky and I tried to make it better, but couldn't get the right setting. I saw someone online say to try Motionflow on Custom, smoothness 0, and Clearness 1, and I like that so far.
The remote does not have a back light. I haven't had any problem with apps freezing. Haven't had any problems with you tube freezing which happened occasionally on old TV.
I didn't want Alexa or to use mic on remote. I'm old fashioned. Don't want all that stuff.
It has 4 HDMI and 2 USB on the side of the TV. HDMI 3 is ARC.
The sound on the TV is good enough for me.
I don't like the legs on the new TV's. I guess the TV manufacturers assume most people want it wall mounted. I can't put it on a wall. I think they should have the width and depth of the feet/legs first thing in their spec's instead of having to dig for the info. The width of the feet on this 55" TV are approximately 38 1/2" and the depth is approximately 13 1/2". Just fit on my 44" wide and 15" depth stand with not much to spare.
That's about as technical as I can get. It's everything I want in a TV. I recommend a Geek Squad warranty. They were very helpful.

I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your TV. I'm guessing they probably won't take the TV back since it hasn't completely stopped working, but they should send repairman to fix it. My TV completely broke down. (black screen, wouldn't turn on ). They sent a repairmen and once they got the report it was not repairable, the Geek Squad was really good about replacing the TV. I hope they can fix your TV. If that happened to me, I would keep calling them till they got it fixed. Good Luck.

Three years ago we bought a SONY TV. The TV was damaged in July due to power surge and could not be repaired. In September we were offered a new TV. We’re being asked to pay for installation. Why? This is covered by our 5 year warranty (both old and new)!

I bought a Sony TV in 2017. I paid for the installation and paid for a 5 year extended warranty. The TV suddenly stopped working in May. (black screen, wouldn't turn on). Once it was determined by repairman that it was not repairable, the Geek Squad was really good about getting me a replacement. My receipt showed that I had paid for the installation so they did not charge me an installation fee for the new TV.

What is the difference between a X750 model and a X 800 model?

Hi. I'd be glad to try and help you, please understand I am not a technical person. I go to websites that sell the TV's and read through their spec's and through the reviews.
My guess (by the spec's I've read) is that the 800H has Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and the 750H says it has Dolby audio..
My understanding is Dolby Vision optimizes the HDR picture, and color gamut. The Dolby Atmos enhances the sound. I do not have a nice soundbar to give a review about the sound. I do have a 4K Blu Ray player hooked up and the picture is really good, but I thought it looked good on my old TV too and it didn't have the Dolby Vision. Looks like both TV's have good reviews.
Another thing I noticed is that the 750H says its has an estimated annual energy cost $33 and the 800H is $20 , sounds like the 750H is more costly as far as paying electrical bill. Thanks, hope it helps you.

I recently was able to hook up my DVD player to my X800H tv. But the picture is not good. It has horizontal white lines all the time. can you tell me what is going on?

Hi. I sent a response a little earlier to your question. I wanted to add to that. When the guys from Best Buy was hooking up the DVD player to new TV, it didn't work. They asked me if I had any problems with the DVD Player. I told them I was watching the DVD player the day my old TV quit working. They said maybe the HDMI cable isn't any good and put a new one on and the DVD player worked fine after that. ( I bought a high speed cable at Walmart probably 2-3 years ago. I would never have thought about the cable not working. My first thought would be something was wrong with the DVD player.)
You might try another HDMI port on TV to see if its working properly. If that doesn't make any difference, you might try a new cable. I read that you should use the "high speed" cables. I just turned the DVD player on and watched it for a little while. It's working OK, I hope that helps you.

Sorry, I am not a tech savvy person. I have a dvd player that is hooked up to TV. I have the high speed HDMI cable. When it was first hooked up it looked good, but I haven't spent a lot of time with the dvd player yet.
