Great UHD version of Tangled

Bought as Tangled is one of the (if not the) favorite Disney movie in our family. We have Disney Plus for the next three years, but... given it went on sale we ended up grabbing it anyway. The case is great and has some nice movie artwork with the blu-ray and UHD discs inside. Like all Disney UHD movies this is an upscaled 2K release that still looks great and sharp compared to the blu-ray.
As we only have a Magnavox UHD player, as well as an Xbox One X I can't validate if the Dolby Vision version of the movie is on the disc. Though the HDR version I have seen looks great without the compression you get from streaming.
The other nicety of buying this movie is that it includes a digital copy to redeem on MoviesAnywhere, Vudu, iTunes, or others. And that version (at least on MoviesAnywhere and Vudu) redeems at 4K with the Dolby Vision version available on supported devices.

Spyro is a fun series similar to Crash that began on the Nintendo rival's, Sony Playstation. It's nice to see the series come full circle with a remastered release on all current consoles including the Nintendo Switch. I own this game on PC, Xbox One and now Switch with the Switch version being my go to platform as I can play it about anywhere. The Switch version requires a download of approximately 6.3GB for the extra titles so you are best to have a MicroSD card installed if you want to play these later games. That said it's still smaller than the download required on the other consoles. Still the game holds up on Switch and looks great at a slight resolution downscale at 30fps. All around the game is very playable and looks great with all things considered. If you have a Switch and enjoy 90's platformers, I can highly recommend this game.

The original Yooka-Laylee was a fun Kickstarter game that was a great throwback to the 90's platforming days of Rare on the N64. This new game plays on that mechanic but more as a Donkey Kong Country style platformer. In this area it succeeds and while not as refined maybe as that game it's still really fun to play. As you play through the game you unlock new abilities and additional health to help you take on the final boss. This boss is able to be challenged from the very beginning of the game but is extremely difficult given the amount of health you have at the beginning of the game. The number of unlockables are also great and fun to try and collect them all.

Great remaster of a fun Wii game

While this isn't my favorite Monkey Ball game to date, it is a good one. The mini-games are fun to play with up to four players. The campaign is fun and challenging, but even more so on the boss fights. The boss fights to me seem a little out of place and at times can be very challenging to the point of almost being not fun, where you finally win after dozens and dozens of times on luck though. I really enjoy the main levels and have gone back to replay many of them after getting stuck on some of the later bosses. After beating the world 8 boss you'll unlock a special character which is a nice addition. Fun game.

Bust some heads in River City Girls for Nintendo Switch. Great new game in the River City series

This game had been on my radar since it was first talked about. I'm a fan of quite a few of the developer, WayForward, and their games. I've also played River City Ransom and enjoy this style of beat-em up game. Except in this game you are rescuing the protagonists of that game as their girlfriend's. As you grab items around the world to fight with you collect money to spend at the shops or dojo's to learn new moves. You can also recruit enemies you have nearly defeated for short times to help you in the game. This game was also at release exclusive to digital and didn't get a physical release until Limited Run Games published it. And with Best Buy pairing with them for distribution on this and a few other titles recently, it's nice to be able to grab this locally. I highly recommend this game if you enjoy co-op beat-em ups.

Fun but mediocre game

Originally when this game released it was set to be a large expanding universe game similar to Destiny. It never really picked up online and the communities that played it were small. For this and other reasons the game to this point hasn't had much added to it since release. Though EA has announced it plans to continue to support the game and almost redo it in parts.
The gameplay and game is fairly sound with your character starting from a central hub and then going on missions and Raids of the local planet. Boss fights are pretty fun and the loot drops are decent. The main story mode is fun enough to play through at least once, but at this point there really isn't much reason to keep playing after that.
If you can pick this game up on a sale, it's a fun experience. But at the time of writing, don't expect to get more than your original playthrough out of it.

Return to form for Spidey

Spider-Man Far From Home is a great return to form and continuation of the Spider-Man Homecoming, as well as Avenger's Endgame. Peter Parker is set to go on a European school trip following the events of Endgame while an evil force threatens to ruin both his trip and endanger millions of lives. The story and comedy are great and lead to an ending that has you waiting to see what happens next.
The UHD 4K presentation is great though it is a little soft from being a 2K transfer like so many 4K UHD films today. But the Dolby Vision version of the film is amazing with great color accuracy and a good amount of detail. The Dolby Atmos track is okay but lacks a lot bass that really should be there.
All around this is a great movie and worth picking up in it's current premium form.

Great series and good season

The Flash (2014) is one of my favorite series out today. It's a clean series for fans of superhero characters. The star, Barry Allen wants to see the good in those that have been given powers from a failed experiment at Star Labs and help them use their powers for good. It's a refreshing take on an otherwise dark DC universe, compared with more down to Earth comedic Marvel films.
That said season five has a unique twist in a character, XS that unexpectedly shows up.
The series looks great on Blu-ray and is a nice step above watching it streamed (which this includes digital copy codes for) or watching it from the CW network.
If you are a fan of the series I can highly recommend season 5. If you haven't seen any episodes yet do yourself a favor and start from the beginning.

Slow start to a hopefully better series

As a fan of the original Harry Potter films I went into this movie with likely larger than should be expected expectations. The movie takes place in the 1920s world of wizardry in New York City. The cast including Dan Fogler have great parts and make the otherwise slow moving story worth watching.
The movie in 4K stands out for it's HDR presentation and soundscape. Though it's difficult to recommend this movie unless you are really into the series and have reasonable expectations.

That's pretty much it. 2 of the buttons stick, not because of a sticky substance, but because they aren't centered properly in the shell. You can feel them rub up against it, and they make audible noises when they're pushed from the unsticking. It is very annoying. Don't bother with their "refurbished" garbage.

Clean it

With any gaming controller if you take a clean toothbrush, slightly dampened with water and scrub around the buttons you should be able to fix this. Be sure to not use much water and then dry it when done. There is a rubber membrane under each button with a slight lip around the edge to prevent small amounts of water, dirt or soda from touching the circuitry. Scrubbing all sides of the button, maybe twice after rinsing the toothbrush should fix the problem. I've used this method to fix otherwise filthy game controllers without needing to resort to opening them to clean them.

Seems like a fine product, but I returned this unopened. I purchased this thinking it would do motion tracking for games like Just Dance, however it appears this is only for capturing video, not mocap.

Smart reason I returned mine. This should have been branded that is for "YouTube or Twitch Streaming ONLY". So many reviewers got this camera yet of dozens of reviews only one I saw mentioned this. VR and other functions of the other games won't support this camera. This seems like a huge oversight, so hopefully this changes in a firmware update. But for now if you don't stream, skip this peripheral.

Can this be used for audio commands? For instance, the Xbox Kinect allowed you to say "Xbox Pause" while watching a movie...
No it can't. It's sole purpose is to stream on YouTube and Twitch, period.

What camera do I need to get to play Just Dance 2020/21 with the PS5? Looks like this one doesn't serve that purpose. Thanks.
Either of the past PS4 cameras will work great. I'm currently using the cylinder shapped V2 camera, works great for Just Dance and PSVR.

Will I be able to connect this to a Nintendo switch lite?
You would need a third party bluetooth adapter to connect in the USB charge port on the bottom of the Switch Lite. I'm not fully certain these work on the Lite over the standard Switch. So no it won't work natively.
My recommendation is the Switch Pro controller. Though if you're on a budget the PowerA wireless controller is cheaper dealing, missing some features like rumble, a built in 48 hr battery, and amiibo support, but is an otherwise solid $40 remote that occasionally goes on sale.

I recently bought this controller for my Xbox one and went to set it up when I got home with my rechargeable batteries, but they don’t seem to work. Did they make it to where older rechargeable batteries don’t work with the new controllers?
The form factor of the back is slightly different so you'll need a new charger as the back cover is different. That said older rechargeable packs can be charged separately and then installed in the controller.
Another option is to buy a new Xbox Series rechargeable battery pack (using the cover the controller came with) an then charge it via USB-C. This time around there are two sets of battery pins inside. I'm guessing that it won't charge older packs or rechargeable AA batteries via USB-C so that people wouldn't damage their controller by accidentally charging standard AA batteries, hence the second set of charging pins.

Can this controller charge two rechargeable AA batteries if I connect a USB-C cable?
So I tested this myself, and No it does not work. The Xbox Series controller has terminals for standard or rechargeable AA batteries to power the controller. But this time there are some smaller pins for a rechargeable battery pack and these will charge a battery from the USB-C port. But as they are between where AA batteries (rechargeable or not) sit they won't charge rechargeable AA batteries. My guess is this decision was made so that someone didn't inadvertently try to "recharge" non-rechargeable AA batteries as that would be a problem.

Can I turn off the British Accents? (British accents make my very annoyed, it is a pet peeve of mine)
You can quiet them and turn on subtitles. I get it, some of the Scottish accents are pretty thick and hard to understand. No offense to anyone, I'm sure they think the same of some of us Americans.
