Capcom~s newest IP, PRAGMATA, is an all-new sci-fi action-adventure game with unique hacking gameplay. Set on the moon in the near future, the story follows an unlikely duo on a mission to escape a lunar station controlled by a hostile station AI. In this single-player game, players control both spacefarer Hugh and the enigmatic android Diana. Each character has their own distinct skills and abilities, and they must work together to hack, shoot, and overcome obstacles in search of a way back to Earth.

Harmonious Game Mechanics And Endearing Characters

I will be straight up honest with you all. I wasn't really interested in this game until about a week before its release when I finally decided to try out the demo and feel the game for myself. But when I did, I instantly realized that this was something special about to come out, and had to pre-order it.
The premise is simple: You play in 3rd-person with heavy shooting elements using different types of weapons. But the real hook of this game is how it blends a hacking themed puzzle mini-game together with the shooting. On console controllers, you aim and shoot with the standard trigger buttons while strafing and dodging. However, while aiming at enemies you are simultaneously using the face buttons to navigate a cursor in the hacking mini-game to specific "nodes" that once completed will allow you to damage enemies that are otherwise bullet sponges by default.
This necessity of using the hacking and shooting mechanics creates a harmonious flow in gameplay that is hard to describe, but clicks with the brain so well once you get the hang of it. Think of how Devil May Cry, another Capcom IP, combined swords and guns to create its stylish fast-paced combat gameplay. That is what Pragmata is doing with its 3rd-person shooting and hacking puzzle mini-games.
Beyond this unique foundational mechanic, Pragmata also feels structured like a Resident Evil game, with different zones to explore and enemies with different abilities and weaknesses. You have a "safe zone" in the Shelter where you upgrade your abilities and equipment using components you find while exploring. It's a satisfying adventurous loop that always feels rewarding and contributes to the overall experience.
I haven't even mentioned the story or the characters, which likely have stolen the hearts of gamers everywhere in recent days. You have Hugh, the primary player character, who is an astronaut with combat and engineering skills not unlike Isaac Clarke from Dead Space. You can see the inspiration taken from other games, and it is refined to perfection.
Then you have Diana, the child android companion who handles the hacking puzzle mini games. She always rides on your back during exploration and combat, making the majority of the game feel like you are controlling two characters at once. But during the quiet peaceful moments in the Shelter, Diana becomes one of the most endearing and adorable AI companions in a video game since BioShock Infinite's Elizabeth. Diana's lifelike animations and overall vibe really makes her feel like a real child. And your interactions throughout the game enforce the feeling of creating a meaningful bond between her and Hugh.
The voice acting in English is also fantastic, with Diana's VA delivering a very convincing childlike attitude and Hugh giving off the mature but still easygoing attitude that contrasts with the more brooding father figures from the likes of God of War or The Last of Us. Pragmata has one of the most wholesome portrayals of a father-daughter relationship in the video game medium, and I think this is very refreshing to see.
Finally, the graphics and sound are also top notch. The strong sci-fi art direction pulling styles from real life space travel and more tech-heavy robotics all combine to create a convincing world. The music is an often quiet medley of piano, synths and choir mixed together to form a melancholic melody to complement the game's themes of space and robotics. The cutscenes are also well directed, and flow seamlessly into gameplay to create some absolutely cinematic moments.
So to reiterate, this game wasn't on my radar until shortly before its release, and knowing that it was in development for 6 years is mind-blowing. This is Capcom's first new IP in a long time, and I am so glad I took a chance on it because this is what we need to see more of from game companies. Pragmata is a shining example of a game that was created with passion and given time for polish. In short, Capcom really cooked with this game and I truly hope to see it become an exciting new franchise.

Great Comprehensive Monster Hunter Package

This is a great package for anyone who wants a comprehensive experience of Monster Hunter World. It contains the Iceborne expansion on the disc along with a code to download the Iceborne Deluxe content. My only issue is that it is a code and you need to have internet access to claim the bonus content and any updates.
It would also have been nice if this included a few other DLC like the regular Deluxe content and bonus outfits and gestures. But otherwise this is a great package that even comes in a Steelbook case that holds the game well.
The gameplay takes some grinding and getting used to but once you feel it click the game can be hard to put down. It requires patience and coordinated strategies to take down its enemies but you get a real sense of satisfaction when you do it. Great game that you can spend hours on either single-player or online with friends which I still have yet to do.

A Game For Anyone Who Appreciates Creativity

Let me start off by saying that I loved the LittleBigPlanet games, and to be honest Dreams nearly slipped under the radar for me even though it's by the same developers. But I finally got to play it and mess around in the creation system and I have to say it is definitely one for all you creative minds out there.
There is a learning curve to the creation tools and while I haven't gotten all of them down yet there is literally endless potential to what you can create. It's all limited to your imagination (and the imagination of others). If you don't want to create your own you can play other peoples' creations. I have seen everything from Fallout 4 to Sonic the Hedgehog to even Avatar the Last Airbender on the list of creations that you can play. And that will only increase with more people jumping in.
Even the game's story mode is a nice homage to art and creativity, being aptly named "Art's Dream". It's a nice campaign that was built using the creation tools in Dreams itself, so what you play in the campaign is fair game for you to create as well.
Long story short, this game lets you experience the wonderful world of art, music and all things that inspire us to create. Dreams is a gem for anyone who appreciates the basic human knack for making things.

Really Fun in a Nuanced Way

You would be forgiven for thinking Days Gone is like every other zombie game out there, and in some ways it is. But it's got enough to make it stand out in terms of the gameplay, story and themes.
I haven't beaten it yet but the open-world gameplay mixed with Last of Us-style crafting and survival was right up my alley. That combined with motorcycle traversal, stealth takedowns and GTA-style side missions made this a really fun game to sit down and play.
The soundtrack is also really good, from the main theme to the scary beats that play when night falls and the zombies become more dangerous. And the graphics look great and showcase some beautiful vistas based on the Oregon countryside.
They really nailed the feel of this game, and while it's not the most original thing you can find, it's definitely one with a lot of heart and soul put into it.

I'm not kidding when I say it: DOOM Eternal is the best First-Person Shooter Game I have ever played. And I have played shooters since Wolfenstein 3D back in the day.
This is no Call of Duty or Halo. This is a hyper-speed driven, movement-based shooter that requires you to always blitz around the area to take out foes. Cover is almost nonexistent and the only way to defeat enemies it to shoot them! But you also have to be smart at how you shoot since some enemies have weak points that disable their attacks or use Glory Kills to stage them up for a fatality that restores health, or perhaps a chainsaw attack to restore ammo along with a well-timed flame burst to restore your armor.
The ways to play are literally off the walls and you can mix and match combos of moves and weapons to have an insane blast of a time. Did I mention the crazy metal soundtrack by Mick Gordon? It's a hell of headbanger. \m/
This game never gets old, and that says something since this is the same series that pioneered the FPS genre. Go out there and get this game and get ready to RIP AND TEAR!!!!

For me Star Wars games are hard to get right. They're licensed and so the developers tend to be dragged into a cash-grab process of making a mediocre game that just plainly delivers. Thankfully, that's not the case with Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.
This might be the best Star Wars game I have played in a long time. It has heart and soul put into its story, characters, gameplay and world.
The graphics look great, the sound and music pulls you into the experience and the world is so well realized with gameplay that feels like Dark Souls with a bit of Uncharted mixed in. The lightsaber combat is fantastic if a bit difficult and really makes you feel like a Jedi who has earned their merit. And the exploration feels like an Uncharted game with some scripted action-packed scenes and slow moments of observing the background.
There's really something for everyone here. I think old and new Star Wars fans alike will enjoy this, regardless of how they feel about the new trilogy films.

I have heard all kinds of things about No Man's Sky, from its procedurally generated worlds to its impressive planetary scale. However, I avoided buying it in 2016 due to some of the backlash I heard about it not being complete or offering what was promised.
Cue in No Man's Sky Beyond, a re-released version of the game with all the updates installed with it on the disc! And boy are there a lot of things added. For starters, there's base building, which is something I really enjoy after playing games like Fallout 4 and Minecraft. You can create a base on any location on any planet you wish, and it feels good to build your own space colony of sorts. Another addition is multiplayer, though I haven't used that yet since I don't have the subscription to play online yet. And furthermore, there are more story elements and quests to run and even a third-person view which was not present in the original version. These additions make the game feel like an experience you can call your own, and I love it.
On the downside, there are still a few goofy things like weird-looking alien lifeforms as a result of the procedurally generated creatures system. And while the game technically has a story, it can still feel aimless as you might just get lost in what you want to do (though honestly that's more of a good thing since there are a lot of things to do). You can explore the planetary surface, build your base colony, pilot starships, engage in space battles with said starships, trade with aliens or just simply wander the impressive open world (open-planet?) environments in the game.
The feeling of hopping in your spaceship and blasting off the planet's surface into outer space without any load times at all is still something to behold, even more so when you look back at the planet you were just on and see how massive it is. Or even the opposite when you enter the planet's atmosphere and the landscape slowly materializes as you make contact with the surface. It's an interstellar wonder to just experience these elements in this game, and I am happy it was re-released with all the additional content and updates on the disc. This is easily going to be one of my most played games ever.
