Good looking & sounding to build a surround setup.

These are a very good value-for-the-money pair of speakers. I was looking for a more budget-friendly, good-sounding, aesthetically pleasing option for my living room setup. I already have a dedicated HT room, but still wanted something smaller that would blend well with my living room without standing out too much. While it’s not very hard to find good-value, relatively-good sounding speakers, it seems the great majority of them come in some sort of black or dark brown color, and it makes it hard to integrate them into a more modern space. If you want a white/lighter option that still sounds good, you almost have to be ready to spend considerably more, as the great majority seem to go for $500+ per speaker.
These were one of very few options of pairs of speakers with good quality, without going north of $500 dollars, and that at the same time would allow you to expand the sound into a full surround, and even Atmos, setup while staying aesthetically pleasing for a more modern living room. They have decent bass for bookshelf speakers under $500, but a dedicated sub is always better whenever possible. These 250B’s are the bigger bookshelf option in the JBL Stage 2 line of speakers. The Latte/white colors work great for a living room, common area, and/or more modern space. If budget allows, I would recommend pairing these with the sub, the center speaker, and the 240B’s speakers from the Stage 2 line to complete a 5.1 surround setup. JBL also has height speakers in the same line for a full Atmos setup. They even have floor standing options in the same colors if you want something even bigger but still in these lighter colors.
I am currently using these 250B’s as the fronts, and a pair of 240B’s as the surrounds, with future plans to eventually add the sub, center, and height speakers for a full Atmos setup. One thing to note if these 250B’s do not come with the holes, nor the hardware, needed to wall mount them. So you would need some sort of stand(s) or bookshelves as it is not recommended to place them on the floor. After using my receiver’s calibration (Audyssey MultEQ XT32 with iOS app), the speakers, combined with the room correction, resulted in a very good frequency response. They won’t work miracles, but the combination of quality, price, and aesthetics is hard to beat. And the good thing about this line of speakers is that, with the right receiver to drive them, you can start small with a simple stereo setup, and little by little add more of the speakers to have a 5.1 surround sound setup, and if desired, eventually complete a full 7.1.4 surround/height speaker setup while all the speakers blend well together sound-wise, and the lighter colors makes them easier to integrate into more modern areas (which would help those with a WAF-Wife Acceptance Factor).
Recommended to those looking for a good value set of speakers that (now or later) want a surround and/or Atmos setup but also have a WAF, or simply want a lighter color option for a more aesthetically pleasing look.

Probably the best streaming player.

It has virtually every streaming app you’d want. The user interface is very easy to use and intuitive. It has very good responsiveness as well. It is HDR10, Dolby Vision, 4K, and Dolby Atmos compatible. You can choose to have it match the picture mode and frame rate (best options to match the content) and it will automatically do it for you. The only small drawback is the remote. I think buttons would have been better instead of the touch pad for the directional selections. Also I’ve noticed with friends the remote is prone to crack if dropped since it uses glass. But otherwise, the ease of use, quality, and available options within it app-wise make this the best streaming player in the market right now. If you turn on HDMI CEC on your TV, this device, and sound system (sound bar or recover) it should allow you to control the volume with the Apple TV 4K’s remote. You can also use your iPhone or iPad to control it with the app. You can even use an Xbox or PS4 controller now to play games from the App Store or Apple’s new Arcade service.

Great value for the price
on November 5, 2019

I’ll be honest, I haven’t used it much for gaming, but the little I’ve done is outstanding given the price of the laptop. The screen is 1080p with up to 144Hz refresh rate. The laptop is plenty responsive and it has never frozen on me. The graphics card is able to output 4K and HDR (but maybe not native for both at the same time, depending on the game). The keyboard feels very responsive with good feedback while typing. The touch pad is the biggest I’ve seen in a laptop, but serious games will still be better off with a mouse. At the screen size the 1080p resolution is plenty. If you want something better it’s easy to connect it to an external monitor or TV with higher resolutions. It’s very light and easy to carry, and relatively thin too. This, IMO, achieves the perfect balance between performance/power, ergonomics, and portability at a pretty good price.

Excellent ambiance lights
on November 5, 2019

I have these setup behind my OLED TV and they are great to provide ambiance and light around the TV to avoid eye fatigue if you’re prone to that. Like all Hue lights you’ll need the app to set them up. It comes with two types of ‘stands’. One is angled and the other is vertical, allowing you to place the lights is different ways. If you have a bigger TV than 75”, three of these lights might be better. The lights have the full color spectrum so you can choose any color.

No failures so far, and relatively easy to setup
on November 5, 2019

This has around a 100 degree horizontal angle, around a 60 degree vertical angle, and a range of about a 15 feet, meaning that anything within that scope that moves will trigger it. You’ll need the Hue app to set it up. You can choose sensor sensitivity (to decrement or increment motion sensitivity; i.e. how far it should detect movement to trigger), and how bright it should set the chosen light(s) depending on the time (you get two modes which are set depending on the time, one for the night and one for the day). The sensor comes with two mount options. One is basically a sticker like a 3M, or a screw for a wall or ceiling that allows it to rotate around a bit. Or you can also just set it on top of a shelf or other surface. It comes with an included battery and no physical connection is needed.

Pretty good upgrade from the standard blu-ray
on November 5, 2019
Posted by: samlop10
Verified Purchase:Yes
The steelbook artwork is wonderful. This is perhaps my favorite MCU film, and thankfully the 4K blu-ray looks and sounds great.
Overall, I thought it looked pretty good. Not as good as Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 in terms of HDR and Wider Color Gamut but it still looked better than the standard blu-ray, especially everything involving the Orb, spaceships, and other more subtle things like ship console lights and specular highlights were brighter while the rest of the image stayed within a more neutral brightness level, creating some really nice HDR effects. One stunning sequence was when Groot uses the fireflies(?) to light up the spaceship towards the end of the film. There was a nice uptick in detail especially on the customs and makeup effects which should be more appreciable on larger screens. Given the fact this was never made with HDR in mind, I thought it looked quite well.
Audio wise, it wasn't the most aggressive mix but I did not think it was lacking either. There were plenty of moments where the sub made my couch rumble. So not sure why people think it is lacking in terms of dynamics . I had to set the volume higher than usual but afterwards it sounded pretty darn good. I do think the overheads and height layer could have been used more but otherwise it sounded great. Plenty of surround effects, and clarity and complexity are top notch. If the height layer had been used more I think I would have given it a perfect score.

Great upgrade for this Pixar classic
on November 5, 2019
Posted by: samlop10
Verified Purchase:Yes
This epic adventure still holds up remarkably well. It is emotional, exciting, and funny. One of the best Pixar films even after all these years.
The HDR adds some wonderful specular highlights throughout, there were times in which it really looked like you were swimming underwater looking at the coral reefs. The sunlight reflecting off the various marine structures and shiny animals looked quite impressive. Wider color was also very well used. It complimented the HDR extremely well proving more vibrancy to the right colors while maintaining a good balance in the overall picture, and again, made the fish and other marine life look very realistic. The pink of Peach (the starfish in the dentist's office) looked very nicely intense without going overboard, looking more saturated while staying natural. Even fine detail looked better. The scales and other textures on Nemo and the fish tank were impressive, especially given the age of the film. Shadow detail was pretty good too and I did not notice any crush. The only drawback here was some mild banding in the harshest color gradients. I saw it 3, maybe 4 times in the movie. It is not very harsh thankfully but it could have been avoided.
The lossless Atmos track is equally impressive. It is dynamic, hefty, and with plenty of surround effects. Clarity is outstanding and all the sound effects are quite realistic. The height layer could have been used more, but it still expands the listening area. Voices are nicely prioritized, and the wonderful score envelops the viewer effectively, creating a more emotional impact. I wish Disney wasn't so wary of using the height channels, but overall the audio here is hardly a disappointment.

Probably the best Annabelle
on November 5, 2019
Posted by: samlop10
Verified Purchase:Yes
The first Annabelle was a disappointment in The Conjuring universe. This prequel thankfully takes a very different approach and creates plenty of suspense and creepiness, with good characters, to provide a more satisfying and a higher quality scary experience. The blu-ray quality is top notch. With plenty of well defined darker gradations and a good almost of fine detail. The picture is stylized to provide that gothic horror element, but skin tones and outdoor scenes still look natural and realistic. The Dolby Atmos track is outstanding, with plenty of dynamic range that helps bring a good amount of heftiness to jumps scares and other heavy sequences. Height effects are not as pronounced as other films like Gravity or Baby Driver, but it nonetheless uses it to create a more immersive atmosphere. Surround effects are plenty and you might find yourself turning your head around thinking something in your house is moving.

Gets the job done

It is a pretty good protection screen. Compatible with the iPhone X, XS, and 11 Pro (smaller one). The glass material keeps the original screen texture and ‘feeling’ while maintaining the ease of cleaning it. It comes with a guide to make it easier to align the protector when putting it on. I recommend turning on the hot shower for a minutes so the humidity keeps particles in the air from moving around, to help lower the chances that something will get stuck between the screen and the protector which is what causes bubbles. There are cheaper options online but if you need to pickup something fast to protect your phone’s screen, this one is recommended.

Can you use Apple TV with a Phillips 4k Android TV?

Yes, as long as the TV as an HDMI input you should be able to connect it to the Phillips TV.

If I connect this to my smart tv, will it work with the apps?

You can’t really connect these directly to the TV. You need to connect them to the Hue system using a bridge (you can find it here at Best Buy as well) and an app (free for pretty much all smart phones). If you want to sync the lights to what is showing on the TV then you’ll need the Sync box which just came out a few weeks ago. The box will sync the colors and levels of brightness to whatever is happening on the screen.

Will this work if I already have a cover on the phone that covers the back and sides only?

I think it will, it just depend on the kind of case you got for it. The protector isn’t too wide so it should be able to work fine with most cases. I’d recommend removing the case before applying it though. If the case comes up the sides towards the center too much then a screen protector might be difficult to keep on. But most cases don’t do that, and instead use a raised lip around the sides to help with the protection.

Keep your desktop free from clutter while still enjoying exceptional picture quality with this Samsung 27-inch monitor. The space-saving design attaches to the back of your desk for a more unique setup, and the WQHD resolution delivers crisp, clear images. With a slim panel and three-sided bezel-less design, this Samsung 27-inch monitor is perfect on its own or as part of a multidisplay configuration.

I have 2 questions, can you use a MacBook with it and can you use a USB-C connection, I am just curious because I was planning to get a MacBook Pro in the future and get this monitor to make my desk look cleaner.

You’d need an adapter from USB-C to either HDMI or mini DP as those are the only two inputs available.
