Just okay. Needs more innovation
on July 24, 2022
Posted by: darkhome
Verified Purchase:Yes
I think the star shaped nozzle is a good idea. When using it, I am not sure it truly has a benefit but it seems it should. I am skeptical that the "deep clean" does anything useful. It just pulses the pump motor - which to me seems less of a deep clean than normal "clean" mode.
I like the flow control in the handle, but don't like that you have to start the thing at the base, then turn on the flow control at the handle.
Some improvement suggestions for the manufacturer
- Please please please consider how you can use USB-C in a future design for the power connector. This should be top of the list quite frankly.
- I am tall. The hose could be a foot longer.
- All of these devices tend to want to tip over. Why not put some weight in the bottom? This device doesn't need to be portable. Better yet fill the bottom with a heavy rechargable battery! Solves the need for more weight and offers many more placement options for the base.
- Please consider that the power connector on the bottom may not be very convenient as others have pointed out.
- maybe consider how this could be plumbed instead of a tank. I know I sound crazy but the tanks on these things get gross, are always fiddly to work with, etc. I bet people give up on these things after the "new" wears off because they are tired, and don't want to mess with the tank.
All in all, not bad, but this products in this category feel like they need more innovation. Other than the end of the nozzle and the on-off in the handle this is the same thing we had 30-40

backlight too dim otherwise nice

Christmas present for my gaming son. He likes the keyboard but we all think it is too dim - which wouldn't be a big deal - except you cannot see the keys unless they are lit. May end up replacing the keycaps at some point, I would recommend skipping this more expensive phantom version and going with the non-phantom.

Amazing card that really needs no review tech-wise. BestBuy is one of the few (maybe only) retailers that doesn't price gouge on the GPU shortage. Also they put tech in place to allow normal mortals to have a chance to actually get a card.

Small slim mouse pad - what I was looking for

I wanted a mouse pad that didn't take up much desk space, had a cloth feel and wasn't too thick. This fits the bill - and just happens to be inexpensive as well. No garish "gamer" bling - which I appreciate. Tasteful logo in the bottom right corner embossed into the fabric.

Good, but needs better cable management
on May 22, 2021

Decent stands for the price. They work well with the Vizio Elevate surrounds. My only complaint is that many speakers these days have connectors on the ends that are not removable - which means there is no routing cables through the stands. Sanus needs to give some thought as to cable management here. I ended up using some black velcro which is okay but not great. Maybe they could throw some black heat shring tubing in the box. Would be pennies and could really tidy up the look.

Cheap Dolby vision but clunky interface
on May 22, 2021

Has locked up a few times on me during a movie and is certainly not built like a tank. It is as basic as can be.
It has an aging UI that only a mother could love. That said, it is one of the cheaper models that support dolby vision (unlike my samsung that it replaced).
Unfortunately, discs are dying to streaming. I personally think the streaming picture quality is good enough but the audio difference between disc and streaming is marked - disc is so much better.

Great induction cooktop. 30 amp too
on May 22, 2021
Posted by: darkhome
Verified Purchase:Yes
I have a 30 amp circuit - so this was really one of the few choices for me without rewiring. If you do the math, this unit has more cooking area than most other induction 30 inch cooktops by diameter. I considered the next higher model up in the Bosch line - but I probably made the right decision with the 800 as I don't do much griddle cooking or moving the pots between zones.
I wasn't a fan of the idea of red LED controls. I have to say that now that I have it, the red is okay. I prefer the color/look of say the GE Cafe induction - but it is 40 amp so a non-starter. The controls on the Bosch are just a little slow to react. Not painfully slow but close to it. My understanding is this model has their 2nd gen of these controls and improves upon some issues with the prior gen. If you get water on the controls or you put a pot over them - they get annoyed an beep at you. This makes sense if you think about it as it is getting multiple inputs and it clearly has no idea what you are intending. A quick wipe of the controls or moving the pot and you are quickly back in business. There are various count-up and count down timers that I will never use. There are controls for the separate Bosch exhaust fan that is ridiculously overpriced that will also go unused.
I connected the Wifi to get firmware updates. There were none. It is a bit pointless but I was able to turn on a nifty feature through the app that tells you how much power you used in your cooking session. The power used is displayed on the cooktop itself. Most will not care but I like this type of thing. I'm not sure there is much else in the app worth checking out. Obviously, they don't let you do things like turn the cooktop on via the app for safety reasons - and why would anyone need to do this anyway?
The cooking performance is exceptional. It quickly was able to show me that my Fissler brand pressure cooker is a great even heating pot and most of 10-year-old Kirkland all-clad knock off pans need to be replaced as they only heat in the middle. I am amazed how fast the power boost is. I used to reheat soup in the microwave and go through the awkward heat/stir/heat/stir cycle. Now I throw it in a fry pan on power boost and it is boiling in a matter of a minute. Crazy how fast this thing is. Power boost is limited to one burner on the left and one burner on the right simultaneously - which is fine.
Installation wasn't simple but it took every last millimeter of opening in my countertop from left-to-right. I was surprised since I measured before buying and thought the cooktop would have plenty of room. I am not sure if my measurements were off or if the advertised measurements were wrong, but I was certainly surprised how snug the fit was.
Would I buy this model again? Yeah - at this point in time. I research things to death - so I can literally rattle off the specs by memory of all the 30 inch induction cooktops on the market. For me this is still the right choice.

Very pleased

I have been looking for a grinder with a large burr set that is still somewhat reasonably priced. From what I can tell this is the only option in this price range. Makes grinding so much faster.
Things that could be improved are a slightly larger hopper for single dosing. Also, oily beans tend to need coaxing to fall down to be ground. It is a messy grinder. Grounds do not always make it into the cup. This is rumored to be something they are going to fix.
All in all very pleased even with the limitations and would absolutely buy again.

Sony fix streaming apps sound problem
By marcoslnobrega
Every other day I have to restart the tv in order to get sound from apps like Netflix, amazon prime. If the manufacturer wants to advertise it as a smart tv they have to be able to fix this issue. I have to reach the back of the surge protector to unplug the tv and wait one minute, sometimes I just give up.

Last year's G model also has the problem
August 7, 2020
This needs to get attention from Sony. I and other co-workers have collectively purchased 5 of the G model based on my recommendation. I was hoping to get an 85" H model for the basement in a few weeks but now am having second thoughts. I cannot continue to recommend the X950 line while this issue exists.

Storage Issues
By Reviewer
Im wondering where most of the storage went it states on the hard drive 440 free of 475 so im sitting here wondering where the rest of it went and it gives you the option to remove and clear stuff but im not very technical with it so i’ll leave it as is but otherwise the big screen is a good upgrade the only thing that sucks is if its night i have to have a light on as no backlit keyboard so that sucks but overall seems ok.

It is normal for a 512GB drive to show as 475GB
October 13, 2021
The missing space is not due to anything with the Surface. This is just the way hard drive space math works and it has been going on for decades. Here's the math (not my work).
1 kibibyte = 1024 bytes.
1 mebibyte = 1024*1024 = 1048576
1 gibibyte = 1024*1024*1024 = 1,073,741,824 bytes
512 GB = 1,073,741,824 * 512 = 549,755,813,888
And what happens if you take 512000000000 / 549,755,813,888? You get the number 0.9313
And when you take 512 and multiply that by 0.9313? You get 476.8
The discrepancy stems from the fact that a KiB is 1024 bytes not 1000 bytes. Once you multiply that 2.4% error several times, you get a pretty significant discrepancy, as you can see.

Regarding the 75", is the reported lighter contrast/black levels on the 950G really that noticeable compared to 900F in a room that has some ambient light at night (dim lamp or bias lighting)?

I have never looked at a 900F so I can't compare. I probably read the same reviews you did of the earlier high-end model with the xwide angle filter having lighter contrast level. I have the 75" 950G and I think the picture is exceptional. Blacks seem deep black to me at least. I had the 65 inch for awhile and decided I liked the picture so much to return it and get the bigger size. I think the 75" looks just as good color-wise. I don't think the 75 inch is as bright as the 65 inch but it is still very bright and bright enough. If I stop to look for defects in the picture about the only thing I can find is that all of the extreme corners of the screen are just a bit dim.

I was also considering the Samsung Q90R but I haven't seen one yet. I have a feeling the panel itself is nicer on the Q90R. I ruled the Q90R out because it is $1,500 more, doesn't have Dolby Vision, has a cheaper remote and Bixby instead of Android TV. How ironic that I love my Samsung Note 9 phone running android, but they decided to go their own way with Bixby here!

Anyway, I'm happy with my choice - and at the moment, I would make the same choice.
